I like this better treating it like a Morrocan Mint tea by adding a bit of sugar to it. This is also my go to remedy for mild headaches with its mint and caffeine both working to cure the headache! I like to steep it just a little bit hotter and longer than I normally would for gunpowder because of the mint.

This is a very light oolong/green tea. I was expecting a bit more punch in color and taste of this tea, but it is not bad. Almost refreshing, it is a tea I could drink on warmer days. Expect a pale brew that is not heavy at all.

Wow! This is the first time I have tried a white tea. I must say I am plesantly surprised! When I poured it out, at first I was scared I hadn’t steeped it long enough! But then I smelled it, and it smelled wonderful. The first taste is very floral and the lingering taste is very mildly green. I was disapointed in Canton’s Vietnamese Pu erh tea, but this more than makes up for it!

I can say I’m not suprised about the Pu Erh. Pu Erh is supposed to be Chinese. That’d be kinda like making a matcha from a Chinese green tea.

This is my first taste of a pu erh tea, so I have nothing to compare this tea to. To me, this tea tastes old and musty. I know that pu erh is supposed to be aged, but this actually tastes and smells dusty, like it has been sitting on a shelf open, exposed to dust collecting. I have tried two infusions, but I can’t really like this tea. Are all pu erh teas like this? I am still open to trying other pu erh teas.

Nope, not all pu-erhs are the same, but the general taste is the same. I felt this one was a bit stronger than the usual pu-erhs. For starters I would say start with a pu-erh blend.

@Ricky: Thanks for the suggestion! I have always wanted to try a pu erh cake or brick. I just got this one in a sampler pack. I think next time I will try your idea of a blend, or go for a cake.

This tea is very similar to gunpowder, and it does have notes similar to sencha without being too “green.” It also has a nice natural sweetness, so drink it plain!

Ok, so there might be a little too much cinnamon oil in this than is appropriate, but i don’t care! I love cinnamon! I prepare it like a masala chai, bring to a boil in a sauce pan with water, milk, and sugar. If you want to tone it down a bit, just add some plain black tea, though I don’t know why you would want to do that!

Wow, this tisane is good! It reminds me of a spiced chai, but without the caffeine! The name is appropriate, too. I want to sit by a fireside when I drink it. I will admit, I pulled out a couple of cloves before I steeped it, I am not a big fan of cloves. It is good with just a touch of sugar.

This is an excellent tea, though I will admit it took me a couple of tries before I really started to appreciate it. It has a nice earthy toasted flavor, which I find very refreshing. This tea is complex without being complicated.

The flavor of this tea sits well on all parts of the tongue. One of the few black teas that is good plain or with milk and sugar.

The mint is perhaps a bit overpowering. I wish I could taste more of the tea. It is good if you are in a minty mood.

I got started on tea when I got some loose leaf tea from my husband’s grandmother when she passed away. Before that, I would drink some Celestial Seasonings tisane rarely, and of course, Lipton’s Iced Tea (don’t shoot me!). Let me tell you, there is a huge difference between bagged tea and loose leaf tea. Now, given the choice, I will almost always choose a loose leaf tea over any other hot drink. If it is bagged tea, meh, give me coffee. But a nice loose leaf tea, allowed to unfold in the teapot….there is no comparison.

Real teas are my favorite, though I will try the occasional tisane (herbal tea) every now and then.
