24 Days of Tea Day #2!
Another one I had never tried, I always go for jumpy monkey. I started drinking this cup, sipping away and got completely distracted online shopping and now that it’s 3/4 gone here I am!
I expected it to be too sweet. I find mate to be naturally sweet, almost to a fault. But when I tasted it, it was slightly bland. I added a bit of milk and sugar and now we’re back in business.
I know it raspberry, but everything combined almost tastes more banana-y to me. It’s good, but I wont stock it.
166 Tasting Notes
Decided to have a cup of this tonight, which means Miss Rally Rims also needed a cup. I love it, but it always gives me a headache. I have no idea why.
Back Log from last weekend.
How can a tea that smells so good, taste so bad?
How can a tea that tastes so bad have such a high rating? I LOVE Puerh, this one turned my stomach. I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth or the smell out of my timolino for hours! I feel like rotting leaves steeped in boiling water would be the equivalent. I’m feeling like I must have meesed something up seeing as how everyone seems to love it. I’m not sure I’ll give it a seond chance even though I have some left. :(
I received this in a swap in the summer and I transferred it the a T-Sac and forgot all about it in my cubby at work. Then yesterday I woked up at 3:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep. . . at ALL! So when I dragged myself out of bed after tossing and turning at 5:30am to slowly get ready for the longest most annoying day in my twenty-something years of life. I knew once I got to work that I need to dig it out. At that point I didn’t even remember what it was called I just remembered I had a mate tea in my cubby. So I brewed it up after I looked at the leaves hoping that would give me a clue. It smelled fabulous and immediately I was like “this smells like mocha and mint!”
Then it had a toasty taste to it and I racked my brain before remembering that one was called Roasted Mocha Mint!
It was incredible and I wanted to savour it but my coworker spilled it. :( Now I know I need to order from Fusion Teas!
YAY! Time to crack open the 24 days of tea!
Day One = Buttered Rum!
I have never had real buttered rum, but if it tastes like this then I definitely need to try it! It reminds me of werther’s caramels with butter and coconut!
Pretty psyched for the next 23 days. I almost forgot about it until I read an email that said december 1st, at that point I was happily nursing a cup of The Skinny, which I then wolfed down.
AND There is without a doubt at least enough tea for two cups of this. I used 1.5 tsp and the little tin is still more than half full. Yay!
My house feels alarmingly cold. I’m snuggled in fleece with my big dogs. It’s our first winter in this house and I feel like we may need to better insulate it. This is my first reveiw it what feels like a long time. I used to do one almost every morning until my car broke down (the parts arrive tomorrow YAY!)
This is an almost overwhelmingly cozy tea. All I need to do is start my fireplace and then I’m doing exactly what this tea is intended for. Smooth peppermint, with a hint of creaminess, vanilla maybe?
I want to put up my tree now.
I am not a fan of coconut, with that said I LOVE this tea! So does my dog, she steals the end of my cup every time. Today the pups and I paid a visit to the vet. We’re in the middle of a snow storm right now and we were late, but the vet was later than us! Two hour visit! Rally has a cracked tooth that needs to come out because it has an exposed root. Octane has a few lumps that will be biopsied next week. He also needs to put on a bit of weight. So, we were pleased that no one was seriously ill, especially after our horrible recovery this summer.
The rest of the day was spent preparing BoxerPapa for a weekend away with army. Gathering all his stuff to sleep outside in NW Ontario in winter! Bet he’s thankful for NorthFace right about now!
So after that day I needed some winding down and I decided that this was the perfect way to do it. It’s minty and sweet, every once in a while the coconut sneaks up on you. I enjoy this one bare.
Perfect tea to compliment Butiki black friday shopping! Great way to start my morning on a snow day!
I may well be on my death bed right now. I woke up alarming sick with flu symptoms. Fever and chills flu, not stomach, which I am very grateful for. But, I had little to no desire to eat or drink anything until just now, I want black tea. I’m not about to drink a caffinated tea at 6pm when I hope I’m in bed in 3 hours.
Enter Vanilla Comoro, never a bad time for the decaf piece of heaven. I’m going to get back under my blankets and enjoy this while I catch up on season 3 of ‘The Big C.’
My very first flavoured matcha.
Robust.
I purchased a matcha set from DT specifically for this and I regret nothing. As I fully intend on ordering myself a tonne of red leaf matcha now. Holy moly this is damn good!
It’s creamy and sweet, I drank it bare and it even got a little cold. I don’t want the cup to be over… EVER!
Oh my gosh! This pure heaven.
It tastes like candy and spices. I took this from the traveling tea box and I do not regret this. I need to order this!
MMMMM…. Exactly what I need.
I had to make my weekly trip to DT a little early this time in order to get my hands on an advent calendar (which I did! Yay!) So I decided to take this as a cup to go. The man that helped me told me that is was like Elf Help, but spicier, this didn’t help me because I never tried Elf Help.
It found it to be very sweet and fruity. Too sweet and fruity actually. My stomach hurt afterward. But, one of the DT staff wrote this on my cup!

So good! I had to go DT today and I’m so glad I did, I scored the tree bubble tea pot with it’s matching cups all for 19.50! Plus I got 25 grams of all the new teas. I got this as a tea to go and sipped it while I perused the mall. Today was a day of deals for me.
This tea is sweet and creamy. Like chocolate, banana and whip cream!
What a day! I had to go shopping for my packaging for the 12 days of xmas swap and ended up in Michael’s Crafts for TWO hours! I am no Martha Stewart, it was crazy in there! I had to step around women sitting on the floor pawing through things to make wedding favours and dodge women fighting to get the xmas stuff they were just putting out. Apparently there was a 40% off coupon.
Then I stopped by Steepers to buy a gaiwan. . . to have the person behind the counter say they had never heard of it! So I was there for an hour looking through some catalogs and showing him videos online. It was actually fun.
So I get home and brew up a cup of Maple cream and start building my tea packets. BoxerPapa wants to go out for lunch, I decline and tell him he’s welcome to take my car though since it’s much more fuel efficient. An hour later I am done and the phone rings. . . It’s BoxerPapa he says my car is DEAD.
Not that my battery is dead, my car is dead. The timing belt is gone. If it can be fixed he will fix it, but someone has to go get him so he can get his jeep to tow it.
So here I am waiting for them to tow my baby, the ten year old Tiburon. I hope he can fix her.
But, this cup is easing my anxiety slightly. I smooth and creamy. The peppermint is bold and there might be a hint of caramel!
I’m so happy I ordered this!
I got this as one of my samples in a recent order and decided to brew it up. It came in a satchet and the poor little leaves barely had enough room to expand. Brews up a pale golden brown. Scent is sweet and light, as is the taste. This is a good cup!
I’ve been up since 4am and if I keep drinking tea I wont be going back to bed.
Seems I’m in the minority here! I love this tea! It’s quite creamy in flavour and the slight ‘hotness’ from the ginger comes through after. Glad I decided to add this to my order!
Hmmm. . . I enjoy rooibos tea. This one doesn’t seem like anything really special. I’ll drink it, but not that often.
No flavour stands out, it pretty much tastes like rooibos. The smell is like cheap orange drink crystals.
My daughter liked it a lot.
This is a very complex tea. A lot of different flavours come through. It is very smooth and creamy, but I am not a fan. I did two steepings and preferred the first, the second was very peppery and I couldn’t finish the cup. My pup enjoyed it though :).
It is a very nice tea, just not my cup.
Oh my! This is perfection! Big thank you to Terri HarpLady, she spoiled me a little.
I like this one almost as much as Golden Fleece! This is creamy and sweet! I need to buy this! I might share the next steeps with my mama!
Big thank you to Terri HarpLady.
I definitely glad I got to try this tea. I’m not wowed by it, but it’s still a good cup. I’m thinking it’s because I built it up so much in my head.
The leaves are absolutely beautiful, both dry and wet. It’s amazing how much it expands in water. The 8 oz of water is completely taken over by multicolour leaves. It brews up a light yellow.
Very fragrant liquor. As Bonnie had stated it tastes exactly as it smells.
I don’t know how to describe it, I’m not familiar with what I’m smelling.
All in all, it brews a beautiful cup. I likely wont purchase this one though.
My first unflavoured puerh! I chronicled the whole thing in pictures, but photobucket is being uncooperative. This was the one I was most excited about with my order from butiki. It was something I hadn’t tried before. I’ve been loving my flavoured puerh but afraid of a plain one. Butiki has never let me down, and this remains true.
The little cakes come individually wrapped in their own little papers. You can’t smell much through the paper other than a light earth scent. once you open it up it’s shaped like a little nest! It smells like sweet hay and is very dark in colour. I popped it into my steeper and poured the water over it. If it weren’t for some mild housework I needed to attend to I would have watched it break apart.
It started right away! Little piece started floating off of it preceded by tiny bubbles. After I finished my vacuuming I returned to a steeper full of a dark red/brown liquor. It smelled slightly fishy with a bit of sweet earth. It looked beautiful! The little nest cake was all gone and had been replace with free swimming leaves.
The taste did not let me down one bit. Sweet hay, thick and rich. This cup is awe inspiring!
I got this as a sample with my recent order and I have been dying to try it. The leaves have a very strong maple fragrance. The tea itself is more nutty than anything. I had high hopes for maple, but it’s still a great tea. Sweet and light!
