334 Tasting Notes
Well I thought I’d bust this one open and try it while I’m just sitting around today. I’m not getting the cocoa/chocolate that people write about. It’s very dark and reminds me of coffee. I don’t really know what things it all tastes like right now but dark is a good descriptor. It’s ok but I dunno, gotta try it some more I think.
Nice… The lychee goes really well with the oolong. It just works awesomely like just before the floral oolongy taste would start to bother me the lychee comes in and saves it. I totally can’t remember who I bought this from but definitely happy to have tried it. I’m awaiting my butiki order from the birthday sales, it’s expected on Friday… It’s just that we’re currently waiting for 2(!) hurricanes so depending how that goes. All public schools canceled for the next 2 days so I’ll be sitting, watching updates and drinking tea today :)
So, I kind of forgot to take out the bag and cold steeped this for like 3 days so I was worried it’d be too strong. Also the flavor I guess had settled to the bottom and looked a bit cloudy but it was normal after I shook it up a little. Flavor wise it was ok, tasted like a mild almond milk. Not the most flavorful SBT… not one I’m going to rebuy I think.
I like this one more than the Green Terrace Tea Milk Oolong sample I had but less than the Mandala Tea one. It had more milky, buttery flavor in the first steeping. By the 2nd steeping I was starting to get more vegetal flavor. I liked the first cup, it was creamy, mellow and not over powering. Glad I got to sample it since last box was my last box of a 3 month subscription.
Sample from Green Terrace Teas – Jin Xuan Milk Oolong: This is my first sample from Green Terrace Teas, free for reviewing. :D I believe this is my second milk oolong I’ve ever tried. My first was Mandala Tea’s Milk Oolong which tasted very different to me than this one, most noticeably – the Mandala Tea one had strong creamy, coconut smell and taste. The Green Terrace Teas’ Milk Oolong simply smelled like oolong upon opening the sealed packet. I appreciate the well packaged sample, btw. The taste was good – not too floral (I don’t like strong floral taste) and it was smooth, not astringent at all, a little creamy but not much so. Thank you Green Terrace Teas!
I couldn’t find this blend in the database so I added it in so I could log it. I subscribed to Rip Van Wafels tea and wafel monthly subscription and this is in July’s box. Anyone have stroopwafel? That’s what the wafel is, individually packaged so it’s great – thin waffle cookie like thing with caramel. This is my fav subscription so far just because it comes with cookies :)
Description on the card says – “With its robust body and rich malty flavor, this Great Lakes Blend black tea from the Putuo Islands complements the Traditional Wafel’s spicy sweetness.” It really does pair well, the tea is strong, definitely black tea with a bakey aroma.
