573 Tasting Notes
First tasting note! I went in to the store early today, mainly to pick up the awesome whale perfect mug. I still have an unopened perfect mug from last spring (the elephants), but whales are the love of my life (shh don’t tell J :P). I was really only interested in this tea and Blue Lagoon, but Blue Lagoon was shipped to the wrong store, so I only grabbed this one.
This smells amazing. It smells just like a body cream I ran out of ages ago, that was my favourite. Something about cucumber melon is awesome. The steeped scent is (mint?) all cucumber melon. The flavours are light here and don’t come through too strongly. But the base also isn’t overwhelming. Overall a light tea. The scent is definitely what makes this tea amazing. Every time I bring it for a sip, the smell is just delicious.
P.S. I’m not supposed to tell you guys, but apparently Coconut Oolong is making a reappearance in April. They said it has lemongrass this time around though.
This one was sent my way from Angrboda.
The steeped tea smells strongly of berries. The taste is more subtle, with the berries clearly there, but not overwhelming the tea base. The tea base also complements well. I’m not generally a fan of berry amalgamations, though I love berries individually, but this tea is quite delightful.
In other news, the flights to home/Jamaica are officially booked! I couldn’t rearrange my psych presentation, but that only means I’m back one day early. YAY. But I’m finding it difficult to be excited because the amount of work I need to get done in the next three weeks is seriously overwhelming. I should probably just install an intravenous caffeine drip.
Tonight I mixed 2 parts Guayusa with 1 part Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble.
I always make the fatal error of steeping guayusa when I’m already exhausted. By that time, there’s no turning back. Tonight is no exception. It’s only 9pm and I’m fighting to keep my eyes open.
I hope my matcha order shows up on Wednesday. I would say tomorrow, but it’s still in Chicago, with the last update on Friday. I’m so impatient.
I ordered two samples with my Tealux order, this being one. This one is pretty similar to any other white coconut tea. I’m not sure if the creaminess is added, or just an effect of the coconut. It’s not the teas fault though. As my tea palate has expanded, white teas have been edged out. They need to be pretty amazing to wow me. I do have enough to try shorter/longer steep times, so perhaps something will change.
I’ll have no problem finishing my sample, but I don’t think I need to reorder.
Having this one tonight as I read through scientific journal articles. That’s basically my entire life. Good thing I enjoy it most of the time. Tonight I’m reading about and writing a short report on fracking.
This tea is awesome. The flavouring here complements the base well. The only green teas are keep around are three flavoured ones from H&S. I love how they do green teas. I’m getting close to a sipdown of this one, which was pretty slow going, considering I picked it up in August when we were in New York. I do miss New York.
This came in a swap from Ysaurella.
This is an enjoyable cup. There are hints of vanilla and caramel/honey. I would say more caramel than honey. I’ll try a resteep after I’m finished this one as well. So many of these French teas are enjoyable, but not overly memorable. Thus far it’s just L’Automne and Japon I require in my life.
Thanks Ysaurella for expanding my French tea repertoire!
I’m on the resteep of this one now. I’m always impressed with this tea. So much delicious flavour. I can’t drink this one all the time though. I really need to have the time to sit back and enjoy it, or else the whole White Rhino experience it ruined.
We went to see the newest Liam Neeson movie last night, Non-Stop, and it was great. Liam Neeson is always such a delight.
I have the house to myself this afternoon. Unfortunately, this has not aided in me being more productive. I’ve decided I need to complete two lab assignments by the end of the day, and at least add in a few more columns of information to my albatross spreadsheet.
I also need to find a bridesmaid dress. Sigh. It’s a pain being a made of honour from across the country.
Having this delight this morning. I took the day off work because I have a lot of data analysis for my albatrosses to work through.
Also, it’s not nearly as cold here as in SK, but it still feels like -40. However, I checked the forecast for Jamaica and it feels like +40 there. YES. Maybe I’ll just skip the flight back. That is exactly the kind of heat I’d happily live in forever. I could probably pass as a reptile.
I had no sooner packaged the last of my cheesecake matcha up to send off to Roswell Strange, that I got in matcha samples from Sil and it reawakened the joy of matcha for me. I am getting so impatient for my order to come in!
In my surprise package from MirandaGou yesterday this was also included, so thank goodness I have a few servings to get me through the next week until Red Leaf arrives.
I also needed a bit of a caffeine jolt, because I’m feeling overwhelmed. This seems to be a recurring theme this term. I’m not a huge fan.
I added the tiniest amount of brown sugar to this one tonight, and it’s quite delicious. I don’t have rock sugar, or I would’ve tried that one. I have only one cup left after this sadly. I hope Bluebird brings this tea back next fall, because it may be the catalyst that finally gets me to make an order with them.
Thanks again KittyLovesTea, I’ve truly enjoyed every cup of this one. I’ll be sad when my sample is gone for good.
Yesterday my friend made a comment that basically said someone could perform a Google search to learn everything I’ve learned from being in university for 5 years. Generally it takes a lot to offend me, but that really bothered me.
