drank Candy Cane by Adagio Teas

Thanks Mitch for sending some of this my way.

This is my first Adagio tea yay. I’m just waiting for it to cool and it smells sweet and peppermint-y.

First sip the black base is pretty overwhelming and quite honestly I’m barely getting peppermint. The black base reminds me of the Kusmi teas I’ve tried, which I thoroughly enjoy. However, a tea named “Candy Cane” I expect to get some mint from. I’ll keep sipping away to see how it pans out.

Thanks to teapot1 for sending some of this my way.

This wasn’t actually a tea that intrigued me considering the majority of flavoured oolongs I’ve tried I haven’t enjoyed. However, thanks to teapot1 I got the opportunity to try it out anyway. I have to say I’m surprised this one doesn’t have a higher rating because I really enjoyed it.

I’m only on my first steep but the oolong base is quite lovely and the cranberry flavour is very much there with a nice tartness, that isn’t overwhelming at all.

This was a lovely light tea. The pineapple is the dominant flavour as stated. I very much enjoyed this and I’ll enjoy the remainder of my sample. I most likely won’t repurchase as it wasn’t overly amazing. I’m out of room in my tea cupboard and Bamboozled should do the trick for me :)

This tea is pretty tasty. There’s a hint of tartness but nothing close to overwhelming. Also the hibiscus is essentially non-existent – yay!

I can taste the watermelon, which is just wonderful since I LOVE watermelon.

The only thing I’m not loving is the cherry taste. I normally enjoy cherries but not so much in this tea. However, the tea itself is certainly a success for what it’s supposed to be. I’ll be enjoying the rest of my bag for sure :)

I was a little worried since the girl at my normal store said this tasted like burnt toast but I found a store that had it and got 20g anyway. I was actually pleasantly surprised. I love genmaicha and this was slightly roastier and toastier than the genmaicha, but certainly not bad by any means.

Overall I think I’d prefer the genmaicha but I could see myself purchasing this in smaller amounts to enjoy.

see, i had the guy at david’s tell me this one was more grassy, kind of sweeter and when i smelled it i got that from the smell and it turned me right off of it… i love the genmaicha.

I happened by this store in Metrotown and decided to pop in since I’m always on the hunt for new teas – specifically coconut teas. I saw this one, which evidently isn’t on their website.

The scent of pina colada type teas always intrigues me. I’m not a huge fan of actual pina coladas but pina colada flavoured things usually go over well. I found this to be quite similar to David’s Tropicalia. I’m thinking the Tropicalia is slightly more flavoured (but not necessarily in a good way) than this one, but I also haven’t had it for at least a year.

I’m happy I picked up 50g, I can’t wait to try this one chilled.

I was hoping for something more with this tea. I’ve found most cranberry teas I try to be nothing short of amazing. There’s just something about cranberry in tea that’s pretty awesome.

This one was not that amazing unfortunately. The cranberries were there, but I found them almost too tart. I’m thinking the mix of the black tea with cranberry just made it a bit too much for my liking. On the upside, my fiance enjoyed it, so he can finish off my sample pack!

Thanks jessiwrites for this one!

I did find this one refreshing with all the mint. However, I also found it smelled of toothpaste while dry and actually ended up reminding me of the fluoride at the dentist while I was drinking it. Not necessarily a bad taste, but not one I need in my cupboard either haha.

drank Mango by Harney & Sons

This tea is well done for mango black tea. Mango is not something I’d expect to be in black tea alone.

The mango flavour is very much there, but not fake in any way or overpowering. The black tea base is nice and compliments the mango flavour well.

I love getting the opportunity to try any 52Teas blends since I’m just not ready to try these in full sizes, especially since they’re such limited time teas.

This tea had a lovely blueberry and vanilla scent dry. Once steeped it smelled much more like blueberries than vanilla. The taste was also much more blueberries then anything else, perhaps slightly creamy. I’m not so sure if the black base lends itself to this tea so well. It seems almost too strong and overpowers everything except the blueberry flavour? I could be wrong though. Either way this was an enjoyable cup, but I don’t think I need to order it myself.

Bio

Lover of tea, animals, the ocean (http://eastcoastbest.tumblr.com/), science, travel, and all things summer.

That’s my mug! I may have a slight love of Star Trek.

I love black teas. I pretty well always drink my tea straight. I’m also fond of herbals, but they rarely make my permanent collection. I prefer my tea hot, but occasionally I’ll cold brew.

Oolongs I enjoy, but I’m not generally in the mood for them. I only truly enjoy subtly fruity flavoured greens. Whites have to be pretty amazing (see Butiki’s White Rhino).

Pu’erhs I’m working on at a snail’s pace, but so far I’m not loving them. Rooibos/honeybush have to be well hidden for me to enjoy them. Mates and are not for me at all.

Likes:
Coconut, creaminess, yogurt, toffee, cacao (true dark chocolate flavour), rhubarb.

Dislikes:
Any smokiness, bergamot, flowers (rose, jasmine, chamomile), hibiscus is hit and miss.
