drank Neapolitan Honeybush by 52teas
150 tasting notes

I want a dessert tea and a dessert tea I shall have! I’ve been drinking oolongs all day so it’s time to switch gears. I may have too much caffeine coursing through my body to sleep currently, but I’m going to try to settle down with this lovely honeybush.

Neapolitan Honeybush tastes like warm melted ice cream. That may sound gross, but let me assure you it’s darn pretty fantastic. At first sip, I taste creamy vanilla which develops into a rich chocolate flavor, and then it finishes with the wonderful taste of fresh strawberries. Amazing! I suspect that this beauty may be even better iced.

Yum! Dessert craving satisfied.

if your looking for a fantastic dessert tea, you might want to consider ordering a bit of Naivetea’s lychee infused oolong (I know you just mentioned being on an oolong kick but this one is worth it), its an amazing balance of tea and fruit and the fruit builds as you sip it making it a dessert in itself

QuiltGuppy

Ooh… that sounds amazing!!

Jenn

Sold! I’m on it…

Kashyap

everyone i sampled it to was breathless and wow’d….I also had the same responses to the white peach, grape, and I have a review of the osmanthus on here as well…the owner is extremely nice and the company is all about quality

Jenn

If I’m being honest, the white peach, grape may be a better fit for me. Lychee can be a tricky flavor that I sometimes don’t enjoy.

TeaBrat

This one sounds so good!

drank Throat Soother by DAVIDsTEA
150 tasting notes

What shouldn’t you do when your getting over one of the worst colds you’ve ever had? Go out for tapas with your favorite brother and sister in law, laugh so hard that you nearly choke on your thrid glass of sangria, and completely loose your voice trying to talk over the smarmy flamenco band. Great for the soul, but not so good for the already sore throat.

After a night of foolishness, what could be better than a lemony delicious cuppa? Throat Soother is just what I needed to to calm my cranky throat and make me decent company for the rest of the night.

Thank you QuiltGuppy for coming to my rescue once again with the right tea to fix what ails me :)

drank Organic Cold 911 by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is saving my life right now. Big cyber non-germ-transfering hugs to the wonderful QuiltGuppy for sending me such a generous sample of this soothing herbal tea.

Mint, eucalyptus, other stuff… I’m tired and not feeling very descriptive at the moment. I must be off to bed.

I have fixed this tea! Well, for my use anyway. I had about two servings left in each of my Adagio Orchard Sampler packets, so I dumped them all into a jar and mixed them together. I mixed that fruity melange with the Raspberry Nectar. Alakazam! It makes for a drinkable iced tea. No waste. \o/

drank Florence by Harney & Sons
150 tasting notes

I’m sick of being sick and I’m sick of drinking crap tea. Florence is one of my tried and true favorite teas, and I could really use some comfort about right now. I’m feeling a little less congested so I was actually able to taste this tea pretty well. I deserve a chocolaty treat and I shall have it!

At first sip, the promise of a chocolaty treat is delivered. That chocolate flavor quickly moves to a biscuity, smooth, black tea body. A nice, creamy, hazelnut tone quickly follows and the finish is all rich chocolaty goodness.

Ah, chocolaty goodness…

drank China Green Tips by Tazo
150 tasting notes

I’m drinking Tazo China Green Tips because I don’t want to drink my good tea when I’m too sick to enjoy it. I keep this tea in house to make for my MIL when she pisses me off. Yup, I get passive aggressive with tea.

I mixed crystallized ginger and mulled mint into this tea and that helped the flavor a bit. This isn’t a terrible tea… but it’s not a great one either. Meeeh…

The Seattle Tea Snob

I can’t express how much I like the fact that your passive aggressive with your tea. :)

Jenn

Ha! It makes me unreasonably happy to watch her suck down subpar tea :)

Ashley Bain

LOL. I love this.

drank Goji Pop by DAVIDsTEA
150 tasting notes

I’m sick. Like really, seriously, worthless, coughing a lung up, sick! How does a SoCal vegan girl who drinks at least one glass of green juice a day, and who works out religiously get a f’n chest cold in August?! If I could demand my money back from someone I would. AND to make matters worse, I have an abundance of new teas to try from the lovely LiberTeas and amazing Ashley that I’m too sick to begin trying. Booooooooo!

Well, my complaining aside, I have antioxidant packed Goji Pop to sooth my cough and fortify me for what’s to come. I hate being sick! Gish…

QuiltGuppy

Sorry to hear you’re sick. Have you tried DavidsTea Cold 911? It works pretty well to help you feel better. I can send you some… :D

IllBeMother221B

I feel your pain Jenn, I was hit by what feels like a cold 2 × 4! I felt fine Sunday morning and then BAM around 4pm felt like dirt: cough, runny nose, sore throat! Ugh! Anyway feel better.

QuiltGuppy I tried looking for DavidsTea Cold 911 and it looks like they don’t make it anymore. :(

Jenn

QuiltGuppy to the rescue! Alas, I do not have any DAVID’sTEA Cold 911 on hand, BUT I would gladly trade you a big o’l bag-o-yarn for a sample if you can spare it :)

IllBeMother221B

Sounds like a fair and fun trade! Also makes me wish I knew how to knit!

Indigobloom

eeek, feel better soon! xx

QuiltGuppy

@Jenn – I will send it out tomorrow. Of course, you know, if you send me a big ol’ bag-o-yarn, I’m going to send you more than just a sample of Cold911. Hope Camp AJ (Auntie Jenn) went well for you! Maybe your nieces brought the cooties. Kids seem to find some tough ones.

@Wifey_Woman – If you’d like a sample, I can send one your way, too… :)

MaddHatter

poor you feel better soon!

Ashley Bain

:( Feel better Jenn! Sip on some fresh peppermint or ginger tea! Or peppermint-ginger tea. Always helps me a lot.

ScottTeaMan

I don’t drink tea when I’m sick. Also, when I have a cold, the tea is wasted on my poor taste & smell. GWS…….:)

IllBeMother221B

@QuiltGuppy – that would be great! Feel free to take a look in my cupboard and see if there is anything there you would like me to send in return.

ashmanra

Maybe all that healthy living will help you get over it faster! Hope you feel better soon.

Jenn

Wifey_Woman, I’m so sorry you’re sick as well. I wish you lived close by because I would happily teach you how to knit. I love it :)

Jenn

Taryn!!!!! I’m so glad you’re better sweetie. August is a stupid month to get sick.

Jenn

Erin, Indigobloom, and ScottTeaMan, thank you so much for your well wishes! I feel far less bratty today.

Jenn

Ashley, I’m drinking ginger green tea like crazy. It’s not even good tea, but I can’t really taste it anyway. I want to try your GOOD teas!

Jenn

Ashmanra, my husband eats total crap and never gets sick. I’m begining to think that there may be some health promoting ingredient in Oreos.

IllBeMother221B

@Jenn I’d travel for lessons. :)

Daisy Chubb

I’m sure there are enough preservatives in an Oreo to make you live longer at least… that’s science right? Science? I have a fine arts degree… anyways get well Jenn!

Jenn

DaisyChubb, stupid Oreos! You can’t argue with science, right?

drank Blueberry Merlot by Tea Forte
150 tasting notes

This tisane smells incredible dry, and it filled my kitchen with the most lovely blueberry pie smell as it steeped. At first sip, I get the blueberry flavor I’m looking for… but then I taste the sage. Sage and rosemary are tricky spices for me. I like them only when used in very specific savory dishes. The sage overpowered my pallet, and then it was as if two sage and hibiscus bullies beat the delicious blueberry flavor right out of this tisane for me. I’m not a hibiscus hater but I do have to admit that the bitter finish was too much even for me.

A big thank you to Tea Forte for this sample. This flavor just wasn’t for me. However, I have high hopes for the three other samples I still have to try.

gmathis

Bet this would be great iced.

drank Hot Cinnamon Spice by Harney & Sons
150 tasting notes

I love this tea hot as a dessert tea, but I may like it even more iced! It’s really, really, really good iced. I know that many people dislike this tea because it’s so strong, but just remember to use 1 tsp. of tea for every 10-12 oz. of water. I’m not even a huge cinnamon fan… go figure.

ashmanra

I have a ton of this even though I don’t drink, just because so many people who come over love it. I never thought of trying it iced. Nice experiment for tomorrow!

drank Cherry Cosmo by Tea Forte
150 tasting notes

I have a terribly sore throat today. The kind of sore throat that keeps you up all night desperately trying to swallow. I need something soothing and I figured that Cherry Cosmo may be the ticket.

I actually kind of like this herbal blend. I’m always a fan of cherries and this tea defiantly delivers on that front. My only quibble is the slightly medicinal flavor that hits you after the first sip. To be fair, it does taste like the vodka you find in a cosmo. The problem for me is that I don’t care for vodka. Fortunately, the vodka taste fades pretty quickly and it’s all cherry loveliness for the finish. So, the flavor is accurate but not one I would gravitate to on a regular basis. All of this being said, this herbal has soothed my throat and made me a far happier camper.

Thank you kindly Tea Forte for the complimentary sample pack of your herbal blends. I LOVE to try new teas :)

Edit: This tea’s cherry flavor really develops as it cools off! I needed to drink it hot this morning to soothe my throat, but I half wish I’d saved it for iced tea later. Oh well…

IllBeMother221B

Thanks for the heads up I still have it to try and I think I’ll try it iced.

Daisy Chubb

Get well soon! May your many teas cure your ailments :)

Jenn

Wifey_Woman, I’m interested to hear what you think. I’m a huge fan of these foodie teas, and I applaud Tea Forte for going the cocktail route. Adding a vodka flavor to tea is a risk.

DaisyChubb, thank you sweetie! I think it’s just a combination of allergies and exhaustion. I have three of my nieces staying with me and I think I’ve said, “Please stop jumping.”, about a million times.

IllBeMother221B

So far I’ve only tried the one I had last night and I wasn’t all that impressed. Hopefully the rest will be different. Will let you know.

Indigobloom

feel better soon! turn on some cartoons to distract the kiddies :)
