I wasn’t too sure about this beige tea on the first couple sips. Then I started tasting strawberry jam and nut butter notes (Nutella, is that you?). Strawberry jam becomes a cream mid sip, and it’s so freaking fantastic. Mmm.. This tea is incredibly smooth and has a light zippy ginger finish.

I find that the grassy notes are mostly subdued here, but I wasn’t paying attention to anything else except the buttery strawberries. That surprised me, as I’m usually not that into strawberries, especially in tea.

The empty cup smells like toffee and general sweetness. I feel like I made a new friend. I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a crazy tea person.

Edit: Second steep is good too. The strawberry flavour is weaker, while ginger and creamy-sweet toffee notes are more noticeable. It’s a funky cup.

I cold-steeped it for my second steep and you’re right about the ginger and toffee. I don’t think I even noticed the ginger the first time. Interesting!

Did we all get this one with the order?

Cavocorax

I think so. I imagine we all got the new ones as guinea pigs. :)

I didn’t get ginger at all, but I didn’t mind. :) This might be the strawberry (green) tea of my dreams!

Bio

I started my Steepster loose leaf adventure back in 2012. I can’t say I’m completely new anymore, but I still view oolong as a magical, extraterrestrial creature that unfurls in water.

Tea Preferences: My absolute favourites are the floral inclined oolong and white teas. I also enjoy unflavoured green teas, as well as some black teas (flavoured, unflavoured, Indian, Chinese, etc). Puerh is a hit or miss.

Fruit, cedar, anise, and vanilla are good. Black licorice, bergamot, and cheap chocolate are less good. Jasmine, cinnamon, and hibiscus are usually too strong in teas for my taste, but I otherwise like these flavours!

Ratings:

95-100: A Personal Favourite; I’m never without this tea.

90-94: Great! I’ll try to keep a small amount around.

80-89: Enjoyable; I may buy more at some point.

70-79: Nice, but not something I’d drink often. I may have a few problems with it.

50-69: Something about this tea falls flat for me. Still drinkable.

30-49: This isn’t a particularly pleasant cup.

1-29: There’s no way to put it nicely..
