502 Tasting Notes
An ode to my favourite Tuocha.
I shed a salty tear as I drink the last one down! Milking it for all it’s worth! I will miss you, Cornfields Shu.
1 tsp Green Apple Matcha + .5 tsp Caramel Matcha + .5 tsp cheesecake matcha = Caramel Apple Cheesecake Matcha!
It was all I could do to not slurp up the whole bowl of perfectly frothed matcha while I waited for my milk to heat up to make a latte. It was worth the wait! YUMMEH!
I got a sample pack of this from my swap with aisling of tea! Thanks dahling!
Usually I have a straight up black tea in the mornings, but today I had a hankering for a pot of green.
This is such a pleasant, gentle tea. I find the taste to be light and delicious – no astringency and so gentle, in fact, that I kept my leaves in throughout drinking the entire pot and it just got tastier and tastier, without a hint of bitterness!
The taste is slightly sweet and spicy, like a pink peppercorn. Definitely not heavy like a Dragonwell – I think it’s like comparing a thick juice to a flavoured water! Very quenching.
As I get to the end of the pot, the aroma is grassy and the flavour reminds me of fresh black olives – juicy and savoury – just a bit nutty.
So happy I got to try this one!
Wow I feel so grateful to be sipping this cup of tea – thank you aisling of tea for including a whole bunch of Verdant in our swap that I haven’t the pleasure of trying yet! eeee!
This one is amazing! First three steeps remind me of mesquite bbq chips – savoury with a hint of sweetness and a real smoky treat. I’ll be back for more, I just couldn’t contain my excitement any longer!
Enjoying another cup – I’m drinking this a little faster than I wanted to – but hey, it’s for a good cause! My happiness! :)
Ever so floral with tangy creamy notes, I wouldn’t dream of enjoying without a healthy splash of cream and sugar. true bliss.
And of course, a photo-op!
Oh my gosh, thank you aislingoftea (or should I say Bigelow ;) ) for including some of this in our swaaaap! I’m having a tea attack, I’m overwhelmed with the thought and care that went into my package. Tearin’ up. GOSH!
I had been wanting to try this one for a while – didn’t get a chance when it was on the wall! So pumped to give it a go!
I did a nice short steep, although it could have been a wee bit shorter because I got distracted. It’s a really nice blend, I do enjoy it! We always have a giant bottle of Jack Daniels in our cupboard, so it’s nice to have a tea equivalent ;)
A little scoop of brown sugar turns it into heaven! A hot toddy! Okay I added a splash of Jack as well. hey! It’s FRIDAY ;)
Having an awesome tea day today!
I am going to miss this – I only have enough for one more cup!
Today instead of my usual milk and honey, I stirred in a generous tsp of sweetened condensed milk – I had lots left over from my bread pudding recipe last night, so in the tea it must go!
Such a great light and summery chai! I suppose it’s a good time to finish it off, but I will miss it dearly.
Big thank you to Makers Tea for the sample!
I was pretty excited for this one since I have never had an oolong blended with ginseng before. I used the whole sample (approx 1 tbsp) in my cup, and went for light, gentle steepings so the licorice notes wouldn’t overwhelm.
The taste reminds me of a Chinese Wellness tea that I have – in fact, it tastes exactly like it! It’s a cold/flu tea with a lot of different herbs, but it’s in a tea bag. I much prefer this to the tea bags!
That said, it’s still a taste that is quite unique and not very shy! The licorice root is mild and definitely adds a sweetness, but not at all cloying. Very gentle and a nice offering – I’m glad I got to try!
My only “complaint” is that the samples came via regular mail, so they were quite crushed – however they were free samples and I have no doubt that an order would come protected. Just something to note!
This is easily one of my finest Oolongs I have ever tasted!
I love the unique notes it brings to the table – I’ve been enjoying it with my gaiwan, combining two steeps at the time.
It started out super creamy with amazing NUTMEG notes! Transforming into a chewy ginger cookie!!! I couldn’t have picked a better oolong for this transition into fall.
Thank you SO MUCH TeaEqualsBliss for sharing this with me! It is SO good!
(It’s even better paired with maple cookies!)
