516 Tasting Notes

Okay, so after reading all the notes about this tea every day and drooling all over myself, I finally got a cup from the DT at the mall.

As it steeped I thought the aroma was so-so.. nothing too strong. The first few sips burned my mouth but I was anxious haha, and I tasted more coconut than anything (which I LOVE so it’s all good)… but then I went down to the cafeteria at my work and added a little sugar and some thick cream. Oh. my God.

I have NEVER tasted a tea this delicious and decedant in my life!
I’m going back tomorrow and buying as much as I can.

Edit: Just bought a 100g tin and can’t stop smelling it at work. Delicious distraction.

The first few sips of this tea took some getting used to. After that though, like other comments, the tea was quick smooth and lovely. The first steep I drank with no sweetener. It was quite woody from the mate, but it may have been from the 5 minute reccomended steep time.

I resteeped and added a bit of sweetener. It really didn’t need it, the second steep was very smooth but pretty weak. Either way, it did give me some energy and was quite tasty!

Spicy, not a lot of licorice taste, and full bodied. A nice morning cup. Wonderful to smell as well.

I don’t mind Goji Pop for sure,
it’s refreshing!

But I find fruit teas are usually not my favorite due to their sour-taste. I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy! I’ll try a little sweetener next time (and can’t wait to try the blazing strawberry!)

I too enjoy the summertime flavour of Gogi Pop…but my favourite tea for icing right now is The Blazing Strawberry.

Jenn

I love them both iced! Blazing Strawberry is particularly nice though.

Man why have I waited so long to try Blazing strawberry? Well.. probably because I’m moving as fast as I can out o fmy apartment before we get the apt building’s bedbugs/black mold. So far so good, but not enough time for tea, am I right? haha!

Jenn

It sounds like you have your priorities well in order. Get out of that place! There will be time for tea later :)

No worries, we’re out of there this weekend b^_^
At least work gives me time for tea. Work’s gotta be good for something. :)

Jenn

Good! I love your attitude about work. It can’t be all bad if there’s tea :)

I’m a little biased… this is probably my most favorite tea in the whole world and I never knew what it was until 2 weeks ago.

Basically, I always wondered why tea at the Japanese restaurants I frequent was so delicious and rice-y (is that a word? It is now.), but my green tea at home was, well.. bitter and green! I wanted the rice! But where, why, how?! D:

Thank you Steepster, because that is how I came across my favorite tea and bought it the very next day. I have it pretty much every morning at work. It’s tastes wonderful and perfect every time – needs no sweetener of course, that might ruin it in my opinion.

Anyways! For anyone who is a fan of the tea at your favorite Japanese restaurant, do yourself a favor and pick up this tea.

Daisy, how are you preparing this? I’ve been fiddling around with amount of leaf and steep times and I haven’t found the ideal yet. Sounds like you have.

So the first time I had this tea, I obviously steeped it for waaay too long. My friend’s mom just gave me a little bag of it to take home so I had no idea and steeped it for about 2 minutes, which I thought would be fine for a white tea.
So today I am sick and I felt like drinking the rest. I consulted www.steep.it and it reccomends 30 seconds for white tea. Oh!
haha So I gave it a steep and it is sooo much better this time.
That said, it’s still not my kind of tea. I like strong, unique flavours rather than floraly or jasmine type teas.

But hey, it’s warm, it’s calming, and it has a very lovely strawberry smell, so although there are a lot of distasteful reviews, I think this tea will be perfect for some people! Just not for me :)

My favourite tea companies are DavidsTea and Verdant Tea. They please my palette in different ways – and I love them both for it.

I’m back bb!
