1040 Tasting Notes
I didn’t try this hot. I hot steeped then tossed in the fridge to cool. It is MUCH better than Davids cherry cola. It is very cola ish, and I’m not sure it really rum, but maybe cane sugar ish. I wish there was some lime in here to – a little acidic to cut the sweetness. All in all I like this more than I thought I would.

This is not for me. There is something I don’t like in here. It tastes like fake candy or something, I can’t quite put my finger on it. I can’t get past the “icky” apple in this one. There is a hint of cinnamon, and maybe just a teeny bit of creamy (yogurt?) in the background.

This is just ok. I taste chocolate, it’s like several other Della Terra chocolate teas, I’m not sure I could tell some of them apart. I’m not getting the S’mores part of this, maybe a hint of some sweetness that might be marshmallow, but certainly not graham or smoky. Ehhhh, like I said just ok.

I’ve found my PERFECT coconut tea. This is amazing. It steeps up a clear, wonderful, pale yellow. The leaves are beautiful bright green. The star though is the coconut. I like coconut, but it’s not my “all time, OMG I have to have it flavor”. This does not taste fake, it’s just creamy and yummy but still allows the oolong to come through. MMMMMmmmmmm I need another cup, this one didn’t last long.

Edit: MMMMMMmmmmmmm second steep is still really good!! Less coconut – more oolong, but still creamy and satisfying. It’s much better HOT, not as good as it cools. After my last disaster tying to cold steep coconut oolong, I won’t be trying it with this one.
I cold steeped this in the fridge overnight. This isn’t what it should be. To me it was apple, with a hint of coconut. It wasn’t very strong, really watered down, and I think I used enough leaf. It should have been. This is not going to make the “keeper” list. There are way better teas to cold brew than this one.

It makes me a little sad though. I just bought a condo, am still unpacking and settling in and I’m going to have to sell it.
All the wonderful teas that Hallieod has sent me has made me realize that I LOVE European Teas. I need to move to Europe. I need to win the lottery and move to Europe – I’m thinking Rome. I can live a life of leisure and drink amazing teas all the time. ;))
Oh yeah the tea, I don’t have much to say other than – Fantastic, Amazing, Best Raspberry Tea ever. I made it hot and adored it, can’t wait to try it cold!!!!!
Hah – I was completely worried on reading that you were going to have to sell your condo! Shouldn’t do anything before 2nd caffeine hit of the morning. Your new life in Rome sounds brilliant. I’m happy to be your European tea mule until you’re settled there though. :)
Rome is great! But let me recommend a town in Le Marche, Italy, named Urbania if you were so lucky to win the lottery. For a town of 3000, it has an opera house, Many beautiful cafes and restaurants including ones where you can sit down and have tea without having to pay extra for the privilege. Has great hiking and outdoor activities near by. Has a fabulous market and is in an area of Italy that has many markets with nice quality items. It is near the birthplace of Raphael, and is under 3 hours from Bologna, and Florence. It has a great community and is the type of place where one often has prosecco for breakfast if you wish.
Let’s just run away to Romania. It’s cheaper and from there you can go practically anywhere in Europe.

Le Marche……You might be right, when I win the lottery I will consider spending time in various parts of Italy, finding that perfect little out of the way place….but Rome….oh to be able to go to Rome!!!

Why does Rome peak your fancy? I do love it, really I do, I ’ve been there many times for work and travel. It has an amazing colourful history, is a great walking city and absorbs tourists amazingly well avoiding the curse of becoming renaissance Disneyland like Florence ( never visit Firenze during high season if you can avoid it, its amazing during the rest of the year) but if I had to live in a large city in Italy I would choose Bologna.
Romania would be awesome, could I come?
I have read MOUNTAINS about Ancient Rome, I am just fascinated about that time period. There is just something about how “ahead of their time” they were in democracy, status of women, social services (the bread dole), architecture, technology (yes I know they stole some of it from the Greeks) and yet at the same time they were just barbaric and brutal. I find that contrast puzzling and perplexing. I’ve never been to Rome and I’m just dying to go and breathe in the history. (my next tattoo will be something Roman).
Kenya is also calling my name…but that’s another story.
That’s cool, there is definitely a lot to see there of ancient Rome, Both hidden and open to the public it’s fun exploring to see what you can find. I get what you mean about that time period. Latin was one of my favourite classes in high school, our teacher was a thespian and a great story teller and I loved how the Cambridge Latin course taught the Language using history and story telling. I’ve read De Bello Gallico and other texts and have a love/hate/ fascination with Julius Caeser. If you are interested in Roman ruins you should probably visit Ostia Antica as well. It’s close to Rome, and less crowded than visiting Pompeii ( which was amazing, but very sad at the same time). Totally get the fascination now and you will get there I know you will!

I also find it interesting (and I hope this makes sense to you) how sometimes you are drawn to a place because of how it feels or how you felt when you were there.
For example: Paris beautiful city, stunning architecture, amazing museums, food…oh the food and yet I have NO desire to go back. Been there done that. Lucerne Switzerland I can’t even explain to you how I felt in Lucerne, it’s like I was home, just at peace, loved every moment I was there. Would go back in a heartbeat. (it’s another consideration on my lottery win list…lol)
Totally understand! There are some places that draw me like that or that I have felt such a pull as well, whether it is regard to its history, its culture or the natural energy of the place. I would definitely go back to India, I love Talin in Estonia and I loved Copehagen. I agree about Paris, definitely glad I visited, but I prefer Lyon, or somewhere in the Southwest ie the Dordogne, or Languedoc, Rousillon. I’ve also always been drawn to Wales, which is really weird because I share no family history there that I know of.

I’m not good at this tasting note thing. I write them more as a reminder to me what I thought, then to explain to anyone else. In my world this is a cross between apple cider, apple pie, and something autumn/harvest that I can’t quite put my taste buds on (apple butterish). Normally I would have thought I would prefer a little tart in an apple tea. This isn’t tart, it’s sweet in almost a pastry sort of way – but not really. Maybe it more tastes like a bakery smells.
I’m at a loss for words, other than this is awesome.
I took the picture of this off their web site, the picture does not do this justice. There are MASSIVE pieces of fruit in the blend. I have no idea how to measure it, there are pieces of dragon fruit the size of a tablespoon. Smells amazing.
I cold steeped this and it was fantastic. One of the best fruit blends I’ve had. Its expensive because of how heavy it is, you don’t get much for 100g. I think I’m willing to splurge now and again. This will be one of my summer staple iced teas!!!

OMG, this is pretty close to liquid perfection for me. I sometimes have issues with flavored black teas, not this one. It’s sweet, it’s nutty, just the right hint of maple to balance it out. I’m not getting the bitterness from the chestnuts that others mentioned. This reminds me of a fancy coffee shop hazelnut latte with a drop of maple syrup (as black tea rather than coffee). Definitely has a lot of things I like going for it.
Now how do I go about getting my hands on more of this……….
Edit: Steep two of this is less nutty and more maple, but still really good.
I’m not friends with this tea yet. I’m not getting any bitterness, or anything unpleasant, just blah.
I put two tsp in a mason jar, added cold water, put it in the fridge overnight (approx 7 hours), strained off the leaves this morning, put it back in the fridge, drank when I got home. Watered down fake fruit punch. Sorry that’s my impression. Maybe not enough leaf? Maybe not long enough cold steep? Not sure, will keep playing with it. I’ll update the note as I play with it, am not rating it yet.

I tried this again. Threw the last of the sample in the fridge for about 36 hours, which seems like a crazy long time to me. The results were much better this time than the first time I had tried it. I don’t think I will buy more of this, but the second try was a nice fruit/green iced tea. Not too bad.
