A great tea for a rainy day while preparing for my final exam. This tea will always be a favorite. :)
108 Tasting Notes
First cup of the season. It;s always a treat. I only drink this tea in December as I am beginning to prep myself for the holiday season.
Tried this for the first time today. YUM!
Helped me wake up for my class tonight. The folks at Harney Soho always have great suggestions of tea.
I had a break between work and class yesterday. So i went to Harney Soho and had a small pot of this and some scones, while i sat and did my class readings.
Tasted this one at the Harney and Sons SoHo tasting bar. What a lovely oolong! It was a very mellow flavor leaving your taste buds refreshed.
Harney SoHo had this in their Tea flight this weekend, so they posted a description on their blog. I have updated the Tea info for Steepster, but will also post the description here for those still curious parties:
Wuyi Cassia, a cliff tea (Yancha) oolong grows in the Wu Yi mountains in northern Fujian province. Cassia translates to cinnamon, but don’t be fooled by the name! With the oolong’s tight stripe shape and black bloom color, the brewed tea, itself a bright orange color, has toasty, complex flavors.
Sorry for the lack of description on this one the last time I logged it. I was just overly excited by my new tea.
I am however having a tough time pinpointing the flavors in this. It’s is certainly hard to describe, especially for someone who isn’t that familiar with Oolongs. I however will do my best.
It is a very smooth, mellow but confident flavor. Nothing shoots right up at your taste buds to indicate there may be an underlying spice attached to it. Sightly smokey. but not a strong smokiness. It’s a comforting tea. And according to Emeric Harney you can get about 9 infusions out of it. Which is always good to know.
I picked up a sample of this at Harney Soho on Emeric Harney’s suggestion. DAMN what a good Oolong. Next paycheck i will be getting a tin of this.
No notes yet.
New apartment. First pot of tea with my roommate’s electric kettle. I probably shouldn’t have made green tea with it, only because i cannot control the temperature of the water. I think i ‘burnt’ this tea. But thankfully due to the smokiness of it, it didn’t taste completely off…
I wanted a nice light flavored tea this morning. Winter White Early Grey is that tea for me.
First day back at work after a vacation. Had to brew a pot of Queen Catherine for the Occasion.
It has been a while since I had this in my teapot. I’ve certainly missed it. I love how bold this tea is. It is the perfect wake up tea when you know you are going to have a long day at work.
Started the morning of with the Queen. She’s always a grand addition to my travel teapot. I used up the last of my 4oz tin this morning, so it is time to pop over to Harney SoHo for a refill!
One of my favorite before bed teas. Nice smooth, mellow flavors to get you ready to snuggle up in bed.
All alone at the museum today, and i got a nice surprise from my sister with a large piping hot cup of Queen Catherine from Harney Soho!
I have the best sister. :)
Not sure if i didn’t clean my travel mug well enough this morning, but i brewed a pot of this today like i normally do and it tasted a bit funny. More “veggie-like” than normal. Not as sweet as i am normally used to.
Maybe I should steep it for less?
Drank the last of my 4oz tin this morning. It is so tasty. I am not the biggest fan of many green teas, but this one is music to my tastebuds. The smokiness of the tea makes it taste more like a black or oolong for me.
Looks like i have to stop at Harney Soho this afternoon to re-fill my tin! :)
Starting my morning with this tea makes for a good rest of the day.
The weather is getting warmer which means it is time to break out the Iced Tea Maker. Tonight i made this year’s inaugural iced tea batch with Paris. What a great choice for iced tea.
I will be trying out all of the teas in my cabinet with this iced tea maker, I will keep you all informed on how they taste cold.
Felt like making a pot of this tonight. It’s just a very happy tea. Nice and sweet naturally so there is no need for sugar.
I bought myself a 4oz tin of this yesterday because i was running low on the 2 oz i bought around Valentine’s day. mmm
Shared a sachet of this with my boyfriend on a lazy afternoon after we went out for indian food. Always a nice cup of tea to drink. The flavors are bold and light.
Gave this a try today at Harney SoHo. The first thing you notice when you take a sip are the cocoa notes. They are nice and bold, but not overpowering at all. It was a nice jump for the taste buds. It wasn’t as sweet as I was hoping it to be, which is certainly not a bad thing. This is going on my shopping list for sure.
one of the best. not much else to say that i haven’t already said.
