drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA

Soap?! Why am I tasting soap?! It smells soapy too. I just have to face the fact that I’m not a David’s fan girl and need to give up the hope that my taste buds will one day join hands with David’s and live in peace and harmony. On the back of each sip and in the aftertaste I pick up the caramel part, but I’m getting just the tiniest hint of salt. It tastes a little better with sugar, like sweet soap. :(

I’m not the biggest DT fan myself.

Dustin

I really want to taste the magic that everyone else is excited about, but it just isn’t going to happen.

whatshesaid

The DT magic has faded for me with every new tea company I try :/

CHAroma

Booo, I’m sorry it was soapy for you. I really like this one, but I’ve found that one of their other popular teas tastes like cardboard to me. DT seems to be very love it or hate it.

Dustin

That is how Teavana is for me! The more new companies I try, the less impressed I am with Teavana.
There have been a couple of DT blends that I like, but it really is the exception when I do.

drank Cheeky Lychee by DAVIDsTEA

Cheeky Lychee! I don’t know why, but it is fun to say and want to say it while moving my hips and shoulders. Totally tastes like lychee, but also tastes a bit flat and cardboardy. New word: cardboardy. You read it here first. It is a little flat tasting and I think having had Teance’s lychee tea is making me a snob to this one. Poor Cheeky Lychee never had a chance!

drank Snow Bunny (organic) by DAVIDsTEA

Kind of nutty… definitely getting walnut here. Not much banana here which is sad because that was the reason I was excited to try it. Sweetening it doesn’t do anything to bring out fruit, but it does highlight a bitterness that I hadn’t detected before. I’m sampling this from Another TTB, so I’m not sure the age of this tea and know that walnuts tend to go back quickly. So I’m guessing it is the walnut that is bitter. The aftertaste sometimes gets a nice floral bit to it, but it still isn’t enough to redeem. I read some of the reviews about it tasting like play doh and I can see how that comparison could be made. I remain unimpressed by this tea.

drank White Cucumber by Adagio Teas

No. Just no. It is flat with a paper/cardboard sort of flavor going on and I’m having a really hard time even imagining cucumber.

Hmmm…. light… grassy… melony. It is a strange mix with the grass notes in there. When I sweeten it the grass notes change to more of a tart note and I can imagine the yogurt part better. This is okay, but I’m not taken by it.

drank Precious White Peach by Teavana

Ehhhhhh, I’d give this an okay. It isn’t awful, but it is far from brilliant. I have been spoiled by sipping on Lupicia’s Momoko lately! This tea is light and the peach flavor comes out as more of a dried peach. I could drink it if I had to.

drank Morrocan Mint Green Tea by Teavana
619 tasting notes

Mrph… not very good. With spearmint listed as the mint I expected a little more 52teas Graveyard Mist type flavors. The green tea is kind of dark, flat and heavy for a green, overpowering the after thought of mint. The mint really hides. I don’t think I have had a mint that wasn’t bright and flavorful before. Way to wreck it Teavana.

I thought I wanted this tea this morning, but it just isn’t hitting the spot for me at the moment. After having a tea yesterday that had tobacco notes in it, I realize that this tea does too. I think that is the flavor I wasn’t able to put a name to in a previous note. I steeped it at a lower temp, but it just seems bitter in a way that is distracting me from the rest of it today. Strange how being in the right mood for a particular tea can be the difference in a good or bad experience with it!

drank Momoko by Lupicia

We meet again Momoko… iced! I have been drinking this hot without sugar, but I think I prefer it with a touch of sugar when iced. I still get amazing juicy peach and cream flavor. I love this tea!

Hmmm i feel i must try it like this too now.

You should! The weather is heating up here in Texas so I’m looking at all my teas with a cold eye!

drank Creamy Caramel Oolong by Tealish

So I’m trying this tea again and it is tasting different than the first time. I don’t recall if I had sweetened it before, but I’m drinking it without sugar today. At the beginning of each sip I get a tobacco flavor! Like when you go into a pipe tobacco shop and smell all the flavored tobacco? Well this would be a light caramel one. There is a slight sweetness that hits at the back of my tongue.

Aaaaaand my kid nearly just threw a dirty sock in my cup. Wow. Talk about breaking the enchantment of a cup of tea!

I am enjoying this more than the first cup for sure, but it is still not on my must have list.

Sounds interesting! I’ll have to grab a sample next time I order.

Bio

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! I like a little sugar in my tea. I love caffeinated tea, but since I limit myself to one cup a day, I have been exploring more rooibos and honeybush teas. Rooibos now = meh and I have upped my caffeine tolerance. BRING ME CAFFEINE!!!!
