drank Stone Fruit White Tea by 52teas
628 tasting notes

This might be the first 52 white tea I have tried! It’s nice. It’s fruity. I can pick out a peach/apricot flavor. I tend to not be a huge fan of peach teas, so no rave reviews here, but I ’m glad to have tried it and can imagine enjoying it better cold brewed.

drank Napalm Ferret by 52teas

This is so WEIRD! And I like weird. It smells kind of like cinnamon gum. When I sip it I get a wave of heat from the spices and then I’m left with the fruity banana aftertaste. I don’t think the spice level is too hot at all, but I am known to put hot sauce on my chocolate chip cookies at times. I also really like banana flavoring and this is the first 52 banana tea I have tried. I like it!

drank Pineapple Bacon Rooibos by 52teas
628 tasting notes

How strange for a tea! I can pick out a light bacon and pineapple flavor over a woodsy rooibos base. It reminds me of eating pizza as a kid, before I swore off pig. There is also an odd bubble gum aftertaste that I have picked up in 52’s Breakfast Smoothie. It is odd because I wouldn’t expect it with bacon and pineapple! This is interesting and I’m glad I tried it, but I think this flavor combo is a little too out there for me.

drank Tiramisu by California Tea House
628 tasting notes

I have seen this tea on Steepster for a while and have been trying not to get my hopes up that it would taste like Teavana’s long discontinued Tiramisu Treviso rooibos. Then along came a traveling tea box with this stuff in it. As it steeped I could smell a familiar scent. I took out the last of my stash of the Teavana version to compare and it looks promisingly similar! There were a few differences, but that could be due to it being bottom of the tin. Tasting it… it is almost identical! No, it doesn’t really taste like traditional tiramisu, but it does taste like delicious in an evening cup. This one tastes slightly flat which could be due to kicking around in a traveling box for a while, but I * think * I finally found the same tea! I am SO excited and need to order some now! Teavana broke my heart, but California Tea House is teaching me to love again! Thank you to whoever put this tea in the tea box to share! You have no idea how happy you have made me!

Now if I could only find a cookie similar to the discontinued Stella Doro Apricot Peach cookies I used to eat as a kid, my life would be complete!

drank Caramel by Adagio Teas
628 tasting notes

I can taste the caramel in this, but it isn’t an impressive interpretation. I’m not getting any intensity or creaminess, it’s just sort of a run of the mill caramel, like a caramel base that much more exciting teas would be built on.

drank Chestnut by Adagio Teas

Wow, chestnut is right! This tea needed a little cream and sugar for my tastes, but once it had it, it was pretty tasty! I bet it would be fantastic with some chocolate. Man I love chestnuts. That cup went down fast!

drank Easy As Pie by Custom-Adagio Teas
628 tasting notes

The first sip was a little sharp, so I sweetened it, sipped, added a little more water, sipped, added some vanilla soy milk, sipped and now I think I watered it down too much! :( The hazelnut is really nice! I like it with the spices. There is about one more serving worth in this bag and I’m conflicted! Do I pull it from the TTB and try it again or do I let someone else experience it?! I think I keep it. :P

drank Pumpkin King by Custom-Adagio Teas
628 tasting notes

Holy crap I love the name! A little strong in the clove department and needed sweetening to round it out a bit for my buds. I think I can taste a tiny bit of chocolate, but there isn’t a ton of it coming through, mostly I get pumpkin pie spices. I can’t tell if I’m imagining or actually tasting a nuttiness at the end of each sip. It’s a nice cup and I’d reach for it over a bunch of the other pumpkin spice teas out there, but it isn’t a must have.

P. S. Good job, Lariel!

drank Chocolate Orange by DAVIDsTEA
628 tasting notes

And this concludes my attempts at friendship with David’s teas. :( I don’t smell or taste any orange in this tea. The chocolate is really really hard to pick out. Kind of has the aftertaste of a scratch n sniff sticker. The tea base doesn’t even work for me. It is flat and earthy and leaves my mouth dry. Done.

drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA
628 tasting notes

Soap?! Why am I tasting soap?! It smells soapy too. I just have to face the fact that I’m not a David’s fan girl and need to give up the hope that my taste buds will one day join hands with David’s and live in peace and harmony. On the back of each sip and in the aftertaste I pick up the caramel part, but I’m getting just the tiniest hint of salt. It tastes a little better with sugar, like sweet soap. :(

I’m not the biggest DT fan myself.

Dustin

I really want to taste the magic that everyone else is excited about, but it just isn’t going to happen.

whatshesaid

The DT magic has faded for me with every new tea company I try :/

CHAroma

Booo, I’m sorry it was soapy for you. I really like this one, but I’ve found that one of their other popular teas tastes like cardboard to me. DT seems to be very love it or hate it.

Dustin

That is how Teavana is for me! The more new companies I try, the less impressed I am with Teavana.
There have been a couple of DT blends that I like, but it really is the exception when I do.

Bio

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! I like a little sugar in my tea. I love caffeinated tea, but since I limit myself to one cup a day, I have been exploring more rooibos and honeybush teas. Rooibos now = meh and I have upped my caffeine tolerance. BRING ME CAFFEINE!!!!
