199 Tasting Notes

Fruit Medley from Adagio Teas
71

Backlogging from this wknd…

Sometimes I think I am one of the few people in my steepster feed who like hibiscus. I really like this fruity blend. I used a little extra leaf (er…fruit…) because my husband likes his fruit tea TART. I think it is a good blend…I also like Harney Fruit Tea for example which is similar…

Pumpkin Spice from Zhena's Gypsy Tea
7

I really wanted to like this. I realized AFTER I purchased it that it is ALL SPICE and NO PUMPKIN. GRRRR. There isn’t even any PUMPKIN in it!!!

Secret Garden from SerendipiTea
54

I had this last night before bed. I am generally not a fan of rose teas but for some reason I really liked this one. It was a nice soothing cup after a stressful day. It is somewhat perfumy-y and if you do not like strong perfum-y smelling teas this would not be for you. I am just adding chamomile based teas to my stash and this is a nice option.

Rocky Horror Spice from Georgia Tea Company
81

I purchased this tea from virtuous teas a local tea shop, however, it is the identical tea. I do not want to make a separate listing for the same tea as the shops must source it from the same place.

I LOVE the sprinkles and candy pumpkins. They are so festive!

It is a pumpkin spice tea with some other notes of flavors. The other flavors listed are: hibiscus, rosehip, rooibos, cinnamon, apple and orange and I can taste how these flavors make it different from other pumpkin spice teas I have tasted. YUM! What a festive way to start Friday.

Moroccan Mint from Tea Forte
56

Basic Moroccan mint. Tastes good, but nothing spectacular.

French Blend from Culinary Teas

I received this as a sample…the package did not say anything about earl grey and neither did the smell. However, the taste…all I got was the bergamot and I am NOT a big fan.

Not giving this one a rating because I should have checked online first!

Acai Green from The Republic of Tea
6

It seems like I am one of the few who like hibiscus on steepster. HOWEVER, I like them in a good blend. I do not think this is a good blend. It tastes like cough syrup or…bad cheap red zinger herbal tea. I can’t taste the green tea base. It makes my face move into a pursed lip expression of disgust. No thanks, not for me.

Romanoff from American Tea Room
96

Morning tea on my way to work this morning. This tea is SUCH a delight! The smell of the blood orange is amazing in both the dry leaf and when brewed. As others have noted, I did not get that much of the smokey note. This is a great tea with balanced flavors. I really enjoyed this cup. If you do not like citrus flavors then you will not like this at all – otherwise give it a try!

Ginger Lemongrass from Tea Forte
30

I reviwed the other tasting notes. I can understand why other tasters do not like this tea. However, it was pretty good for me. I really like both ginger and lemongrass. I had been looking at the pure lemongrass tea by teapigs however I then got this in the single steep packing as a gift.

I think this is an “okay” infusion. It is not great, nor do I think I will be buying it again. However, the package of infusers had 12 in it and I will continue to enjoy the tea.

The scent is very lemony. The color is almost amber. The mouthfeel has a little “zing”. I can feel both the ginger and the lemongrass in the back of my throat. This reminds me (in a good way) of being home sick and getting ginger cough drops as a child!

Violet from Kusmi Tea
96

backlog..enjoyed a giant pot of this yesterday.See my previous reviews. Am nudging the rating higher again. It is a really good flavored black tea. Just the right amount of sweet.

Updated: this is tealog note 100!! I am glad to be back to steepster and that 100 was with one of my favorites!

Pumpkin Spice from The Tea Gathering
69

Drank this on the way to work this morning. What a great fall tea. Nice basic black tea base with the flavor on top.

(After the tea I had a cup of pumpkin coffee. Am Really getting into FALL FALL FALL over here!)

Estate Darjeeling from Tea Forte
59

I got this as a gift with a new kati cup with their new world of tea single steep set. (My old one dropped into the sink and cracked). I do think the single steeps are a neat packaging however not very environmentally friendly. I will be bringing them to work (I also got the ginger lemongrass single steeps) as they will be very convenient.

This tea was a nice Darjeeling although the flavor was very gentle. There was none of the astringency or potency I generally find with this type of tea. This was a nice morning cup but nothing I would go out of my way to drink .

Dragon Well (Long Jing) from Rishi Tea

Drank this yesterday. I got some of the salty notes but it just tasted very faint. This would be one of my first dragon well teas. Is the flavor supposed to be very delicate? I am going to hold off on rating until I try this again…

Hot Apple Cider Tea from The Republic of Tea
89

I purchased this tea this afternoon at Whole foods as I needed an additional caffeine free cup for the evenings. I agree with some of the previous tasters who stated that the flavor is delicate. However, after reading the notes I used two teabags instead of one in my mug. This helped the flavor be more robust. I really liked this as an evening sip. The apple flavor is subtle. It does NOT taste like apple cider exactly…but more like an apple wine? Not sure. I really like it though.

Sweet Roast Green Tea from Mauna Kea Tea
13

I am going through all the steepster select items that have never been tried. I think I am in the minority but I really did not like this. It reminded me of bad seaweed and I LOVE seaweed salad…but this was just not my cup. I posted it on the swap discussion.

Jasmine Pearl from Wegmans
70

I really do enjoy jasmine green teas. This Jasmine pearls green is a lovely but un-notable specimen. I enjoyed drinking it and will drink it again.

Maple Cream from The Tea Gathering
28

This was a free sample I received from The Tea Gathering.

I really LOVE MAPLE. Seriously, maple is my favorite flavor. Sadly, I could not taste the maple here. It was just kind of “meh”.

Anyone know of a great Maple tea?

Sweet Orange Spice from Tea Forte
1

I really dislike this tea. I have tried it every which way hot, cold, different steeping parameters. It is oddly sweet and metallic. I do not like giving a tea this low of a score.

If you want to drink atomic fireballs after they lose their hot then maybe this is the tea for you.

And I LOVE TEA FORTE. The teas, company, the packaging, the fact that they are based in my state. But, ugh.

Zen Full Leaf Tea from Tazo
82

The teabag NOT full leaf blend of tazo zen was one of my first tea loves. It was the first tea that made me realize that there was more then lipton.

I had this a few days ago at starbucks for my afternoon cup. It was the whole leaf variety. I only steeped it for about two minutes because the water they put it in is VERY hot, likely higher then what I would do for green tea.

I love the green tea minty goodness. Oh, the joy of a first tea love!

Violet from Kusmi Tea
96

This is my first tasting note in quite some time. My love for tea has not diminished – however my time for everything but the essentials (work, husband, pets, home) has dropped off until now. I am trying to get a better work-life balance! :)

I love this tea. I drank it this morning. It is a slightly sweet way to start the day.

Adagio - ingenuiTEA from Teaware
94

I just purchased this at my local wegmans…it was on sale for a much lower price then online. I really DID NOT need any more tea toys. However, I love that I can see the leaves as they steep!!!

Honeybush Vanilla from Adagio Teas

Tried this last night. It was okay…a nice caffeine free way to end the day but nothing super special.

Fast Lane Black Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Yun Nan Dian Hong Black Tea – Golden Tip from Teavivre
67

I got a sample of this tea for free from Angel at Teavivire.

The dry leaf was beautiful – wiry, long, and golden. The smell as it brews is very sweet and malty.

As I drank the tea I tasted the sweet notes immensley. Honey, toasted rice, warm barley all came to mind. As the tea cooled I got more of the astrignent flavor. I drank this tea as I was on my way to work in traffic — I have enough of my sample to try again when I can cocentrate more on the tea and less on outside annoyances like traffic jams.
