I found this loose leaf tea in San Angelo at the DeCoty factory. If you’re from San Angelo, you know how amazing that is. The dry smell was very sweet and wonderful. The liquid was a nice dark red color. However, the tea was very tart, almost slightly sour. I couldn’t really drink it until I put lots of sugar in. I didn’t get any of the citrus flavors. The chamomile and rose hips seem to drown out all other flavors. It’s not bad, but I probably won’t be looking to try it again.

drank Christmas Morning by Stash Tea

I didn’t steep it quite long enough. The flavor was a little more plain than I expected. I added milk and that smoothed it out very nicely. I don’t think I would like this one much without milk, and I’m not one who really loves milk in tea. I only tasted the black tea flavors, until suddenly about 3/4 of the way through the jasmine made an appearance.

I drink this one every day (or morning) between Thanksgiving and New Year. I really like it.

I only had one cup. Maybe if I steeped it better, I would love it. Maybe next year!

drank English Breakfast by Twinings

Left this in for 4 minutes and it was already getting bitter. I know some people like their teas a bit bitter, but I really can’t stand it at all. I added some milk to help. It became drinkable with the addition of milk. But the taste was nothing to go “WOW!” over. It’s just kinda so-so. It’s definitely drinkable, but I’m not going to be desperately trying to buy this again. I think it’ll be good for me in the mornings when I’m still half-asleep and just need something to wake me up. Twinings’ Lady Grey and Earl Grey are my favorites so far, now I just need to try out that Irish Breakfast.

drank Italian Almond by Dilmah

I was given a single tea bag of this, and I’m thinking it must have been old. I couldn’t get any of the wonderful smell talked about by Auggy. And once it was brewed, I couldn’t taste any almonds. It mostly just had a bit of a tea and musty taste. I don’t want to give it a rating. since I feel like I definitely didn’t get to actually experience this tea, but I hope it was because this tea was old and left out, and not because that’s simply how the tea tastes.

drank Lady Grey by Twinings

How wonderful. I had this with a bit of milk and agave nectar, and it was delicious paired with a chocolate cupcake. The smell was just like fruit loops. I like Earl Grey to wake me up in the morning, but this would be a great dessert tea. It had a nice tea taste, with the fruity taste coming in near the end of the sip. The only thing I can say that was wrong with it, would be that I only had one bag. I will definitely be getting more!

This is a really fun tea. Don’t usually drink flavored stuff, but I do Mr. And Ms. Grey. Have you had the loose-leaf stuff before? I keep meaning to order some eventually, as my local store only has it in bags.

Emilie

Nope, but I really want a loose-leaf tin. Have you heard of the store Big Lots? I actually found a tin of the Twinings Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast, I think for around $3. I don’t remember if they have Lady Grey, but after finally giving it a try, I’m definitely going to look for it!

Hannerz

Oh damn, I had no idea they sold food-related things. That probably means I can also use an EBT card on it, which would be nice. I think there’s one in a nearby city, I’ll check it out. Thanks!

Emilie

I don’t know how it is for all Big Lots, but the one near me is about half made up of food. And it’s actually pretty good stuff. Have fun!

drank Jasmine Bloom by Adagio Teas

Unfortunately, this note will be more on the aesthetics then the actual taste. I made this at my parents house, forgetting that their water always taste rather odd. Even though it was filtered, it still had this funky salty taste. I would like to try it again sometime to get an idea of the flavor. It was definitely fun to watch, though it unfurled rather slowly. The leaves didn’t break up, as some people seemed to be having trouble with. It had a wonderful smell, not too strong and perfumey.

I’ve lived in Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Maryland, Texas, California, and Oklahoma. I’m just waiting to see where we end up next!

My preferences are towards black and oolong teas but I love trying new and/or weird teas! I’m finally learning to enjoy green tea.

We recently moved to about 6500 feet above sea level and I’m still trying to get the hang of the lower boiling point! Any tips would be appreciated :)

I really love swapping, so if anything in my cupboard catches your eye, please let me know!
