8 Tasting Notes

Long Life Oolong from DAVIDsTEA

Bengal Spice from Celestial Seasonings

For a bagged tea, this is pretty darn good in my opinion. It’s a go-to for me in the evening, when I tend to want something with no caffeine. And the scent & flavour of the cinnamon is wonderfully warming, especially in the winter (i.e. when you come in from -30 degree weather after shovelling the driveway).
EDIT: to be fair, it’s been an extremely mild winter where I live so far, but it’s still winter & I still like a nice warm cuppa when I get home from work..even if I don’t have to shovel the driveway :P

This tea has a nice peach & apricot flavour, delicate at first & then stronger as it cools. I added sweetener to my cup & intended to try it with milk, but ended up drinking it clear because I discovered the milk had gone bad. I’ll have to try it with milk next time.

Vanilla Oolong from DAVIDsTEA

I’m just having this for the first time & I’m pleasantly surprised! Based on the fragrance, I wasn’t sure whether I would like this. It’s a bit odd & not like other vanillas I’ve tried. I have to say though, this is the best tasting vanilla I’ve had in a tea. Very creamy & very smooth (even before I added the milk). With other teas, I’ve enjoyed the vanilla fragrance & then been disappointed by the flavour. I can see myself having this in a latte for sure.
I steeped this for about 6.5 minutes as recommended on the bag & on first steep I haven’t been able to detect any citrus.

Apricot from Teaopia

Another favourite from Teaopia. For me, the taste is overwhelmingly of apricot & I really can’t detect the other flavours.
Normally I don’t go for the fruity teas, but I was swayed when I smelled it in the store. I added sweetener & drank this one black. A really nice cup of tea.

Milk Oolong from Teaopia

Strawberry Shortcake from Teaopia

This is one of my favourite teas from Teaopia. Both the strawberry & cream flavours come through strongly & I find it really fills the gap when I’m craving dessert.
I enjoy this tea with both milk & sugar.

Mudslide from Teaopia

I quite liked this tea. I had tried a non-flavoured rooibos before & didn’t like it, so wasn’t prepared for the delight which my taste buds experienced with the first sip! The banana flavour is the most prevalent, followed by chocolate. I don’t really taste the walnut or coconut. I prepared with 1 tbsp of 2% milk & 2 tsp of white, granulated sugar. Two thumbs up (or should I say two pinky’s up?) from me!
EDIT: I’ve updated my rating to reflect that I no longer enjoy this tea. I don’t know what happened, but I really can’t stand it now – neither the scent nor the flavour! :(
