GiggleGoddess drank Naked Pu-erh by Art of Tea

I’m not sure if pu-erhs are my cup of tea, lol. I just had my first steep of this and it’s VERY earthy. Kind of a weird flavor for a tea…but I haven’t tasted every kind of tea there is to compare. It smells earthy too. After steeping it and waiting a little bit for it to cool off all I can taste is an earthiness and at the end there’s a note of mushrooms. It’s the oddest thing, lol! I’m going to re-steep it later b/c others say it tastes better the 2nd and 3rd go around. Hopefully it’s ok if it sits until tomorrow? Anybody know how re-steeping works? I’m not rating this at this time since I’m not sure how to give it a fair chance until re-steeping.

Did you do a rinse beforehand? I know sometimes that can help

No I didn’t. I read on Art of Teas website about flushing teas to decaffinate them and get fuzzy stuff off the teas with more fuzzies on them. But I wasn’t sure if I should do it with the first time having this tea. I’ll have to do that next time I dare to have it.

50-75 : Decent, will brew more in the future just not all the time

25-50 : Ehhh…Doesn’t really stand out, probably won’t pursue another cup unless I have to use up the supply.

1-25 : UGH! Won’t drink again. Enough said.

I seem to be a harsh critic when it comes to tea tasting it seems! A tea that has gotten rave reviews doesn’t seem to suit me. I just have to keep trying everything out there to find out what does! Thanks for all your insight Steepsters!
