A taste of summer as sold in their carnival collection. What I love most about blueberries is the ability to stain your fingers with their juices. As with blueberries, there are many book about summer, or the heat of a place where it is eternally summer. I have read countless books in which the character would think: That summer changed everything. While this tea might not be life changing for some, it is definitely a reminder of summer.

Khaled Hosseini, The Color Purple by Alice Walker

drank Swampwater by DAVIDsTEA

I love drinking swampwater. Not because of the name to an oh so cute tea but because it makes me feel rejuvenated. Just like if I was drinking a witch’s brew for energy, despite the fact that the tea is classified as not having any sort of stimulant or caffeine. It’s just a good tea to read anything to and to enjoy hot on any occasion, but should definitely have the tea drinker keeping in mind the tea’s namesake. The tea made me realized that I have not read near enough books as I would like on witches. With this tea, I would like to explore that genre more closely.

Books recommended for this tea are: The Witch’s Daughter by Paula Brackston, Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 5 min, 45 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

I always click recommend on teas because I would love for the world to share a love of teas, just like a love of books.

This is not a tea that is overwhelming to the senses, it is just a tea. But like books, some people might not be able to get enough of it. Others might hate it, and others might taste once and forget about it. For my book reading tea loves, I recommend books that are either loved or hated.

Books recommended for this tea are: The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

I would recommend a stronger steeping time to see if it brings out the flavors in this as well.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 5 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

drank Cotton Candy by DAVIDsTEA
68 tasting notes

It’s called Cotton Candy tea for a reason, and needs no more explanation than that. People drinking this tea should not be comparing it with other teas except for similar tasting herbal infusions. I see too many reviews of teas where unfair comparisons are being made. It’s like a movie, you don’t compare a comedy to documentary. Same goes for tea. That’s why the books recommended for this tea are books that are incomparable to one another.

Books recommended for this tea are: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, The Annunciation of Francesca Dunn by Janis Hallowell, & She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb.

drank Maple Sugar by DAVIDsTEA

The enticing smell and taste of this tea reminds me of dark times. Maybe it’s because it’s a black tea with a strong taste of cinnamon and maple and everything Canadian it reminds me of. It just reminds me of the sun setting on snowy days where it’s getting colder and darker.

Books recommended for this tea are: Under The Skin by Michel Faber, Needful Things by Stephen King, 2666 by Roberto Bolano

I have tried this tea both as just a tea and as a chai tea as the name suggests. As a chai tea I can taste the chocolate and and just a note of chili. Nothing to make it spicy, but to just enhance the chocolate. As a tea, it reminds me of Chocolate Rocket.

Books recommended for this tea are: The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, & Mystic River by Denis Lehane

drank Bubbie's Baklava by DAVIDsTEA

I am loving this tea, even if it’s just for it’s simpleness and complexity. Like it’s namesake of Bubbie, it is both a very simple tea at once with a very complex and intriguing personality making it another one of those teas that can go well with anything, whether it’s a start to the day or a music chilling jam session.

Recommended books for this tea are:

Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding, The Dilemmas of Harriet Carew by Cristina Odone, A Day Late and a Dollar Short by Terry Mcmillan, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

I had this as a soy latte chai. I think my refusal to try any of the chai tea as just teas and needing them as lattes skew my perception. I love the way the smells pops out of my kitchen and the aroma fills the breathing air with the aroma that speaks to me that this is a place that tea, coffee, and book lovers worship.

The books recommended for this tea are: I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein
