Hefty and rich! Chewy smoke. Is that a little peat? Is that a little muscatel? (and this is with milk and sugar!)

I made a pot for my husband and I – he exclaimed “It’s delicious!” and drank it faster than you could possibly imagine! When he was ready to go back to his studio, he mentioned how great it was again.

This one screams “resteep!!!” to me – and that is just what I’m going to do!

OK! I’m back! I’m having a resteep with just a little sugar. Some of the stouter flavors are not present. This is more of a smooth, sweet cup. The first steep kicks *ss and takes names! The second steep is kinder and gentler and perfect sans additions. I am so full of tea, but I think it could do another steep just fine!

I’d like to try to steep this like Yunnan Golden Buds (175, 2 min steep) just to see what happens! I want to keep the tin at home because my husband is so crazy for it, but I’ll scoop some into a lil tin to take into work with me so I can play around with it. I love the flavors that short steeps and low temps create with Yunnan tea, and I think this one has a good deal of Yunnan in it.

Andrews and Dunham hit another one out of the park!!

Also – I admit I am not up on my Star Wars, and thought those things were camels and it had something to do with the three wise men,…or something!!! I understand that they are Imperial Walkers now! I love the little tea cup personally – please tell me it really is a tea cup and not a Star Wars thingamabob that I’m not familiar with!?!?!?

Camels! Thank you! I knew it couldn’t be just me.

Okay, I was going nuts looking for camels and Imperial Walkers, because the picture that goes with the tea just shows three red Christmas ornaments surrounded by tea. So I checked the A&D site. Yes! Those are cross-stitch sampler style AT-AT Walkers! LOL! My son and godson are in the 501st Garrison Star Wars movie grade costuming group so that is why this geek recognizes them! But the teacup is just a teacup! I may have to buy this just for the AT-AT’s.

ashmanra

Oh, and your term Imperial Walkers is accurate. AT-AT’s are big, AT-ST’s are the little two-legged ones that look like chickens!

He hee! My husband would be so disappointed if he knew I didn’t instantly think “Imperial Walkers!” instead of “Camels!!” We had to go to all the Star Wars movies at midnight on the release date (since being together as teenagers! We did not go to the ones when we were kids together although we could have. We went to the same grade school and camp and knew each other since we were little). But I digress! I am more Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter at midnight and he loves those things but is more Star Wars and Star Trek at midnight! I remember when the Star Trek movie was released I had JUST gotten over the Swine Flu and taken a huge final and my brain was completely scrambled and I called him to say I was done, and he said “I just bought tickets to the midnight showing of Star Trek! I’ll pick you up at the train, we’ll get a bite to eat then see the film!” It was an eventful day that is for sure!!!!

I was also at the Lord of the Rings midnight showings! Loved the books, love the movies. Never really got hooked by Harry Potter though the oldest daughter loves them and saw all the midnight showings until this newest one, but she is too busy with P.A. school. For the new Star Trek movie, I made my youngest kids watch some season one episodes of the very first Star Trek series so they could appreciate what a great job those actors did capturing the essence of the original cast and building on it so masterfully!

I think I told you that my son and godson have movie grade costumes and do charity work in them. My son is an Episode IV sandtrooper and my godson is am Imperial gunner! Geeky, yes?

Rabs

This whole thread just warmed my geeky heart! I’m also glad to see that you’re feeling better JacquelineM! :)

ashmanra: we had one of the 501st charity groups in our area come do an event at our library and it was amazing and a huge hit. I hope to have that group back. And yes, I got a picture with Vader (whilst I held a cookie).

Bio

I love to cook, bake, read, paint, knit, do needlework, and garden. I need my coffee, but I LOVE my tea. I work at an Art School, and attend a large public university doing post-bac work (my BA is in English). I’m interested in the liminal spaces between art and craft, the academic and the practical, the individual and community, and the old and the new. I’m currently exploring these ideas through the disciplines of education, literature, history, and psychology.

I enjoy writing tasting notes, but have decided not to numerically rate teas as of 9/14/10. For an explanation, see my looooong tasting note about Mountain Malt from the Simple Leaf.

My favorites:
Chinese black teas
A good “milk and sugar” English style black
Earl Grey (classic, and in all variations!)
Vanilla teas (classic, and in all variations!)
Jasmine, Rose, Violet and other froofy, flowery teas!
An Occasional Oolong
Flavored Rooibos
Herbal Tisanes
