The leaves are big, even curled up as they are. I’m not actually sure if I’m getting the full amount in my scoop. In fact I’m sure I didn’t, as the tea is pretty weak and tasteless after a 3 minute steep.

Edit:
Resteeped for 4:15 and it didn’t really improve things much. I guess I’ll have to try again with more leaf next time. :/

You probably do need more leaf. The bigger the leaf the more air trapped between them and the more the less can seem to the eye.
Also I looked it up at the vendor’s site and was a bit surprised that I couldn’t find any brewing guidelines. I’ve seen several oolongs that came with a recommended steeping time of about 6-8 minutes, so you might want to experiment with that as well.

Yeah H&S’s lack of steeping guidelines for oolongs sucks. They had ones for their blacks and greens, but that’s it.

Thanks for the advice, I’m considering measuring the leaves in the next batch by weight, so hopefully that’ll be more accurate.

Bio

I’m a university student in her twenties who’s currently working her way toward a Bachelor of Natural Resource Science degree. I love both science and science-fiction and I’m a history nut on top of that. Maybe I should just call myself a nerd and leave it there. ;)

I’ve been drinking tea since I was young but it’s only in the past couple years that I’ve become interested in the good-quality stuff.

I’m also a self-proclaimed Grammar-Nazi, and improper capitalization and spelling invariably makes me twitch (yes, I mean you!)
