1908 Tasting Notes

Steeped it in boiling water (3.5 min) instead of just steaming and it brought out a sort of toasty quality to it – I’m not sure how to describe it.

Backlogging from yesterday. This is too sweet for my tastes, but after a long, grueling hike it sure quenched my thirst – hey it’s better than pop.

Like the regular chai this one has a bit too much cinnamon. After drinking it for awhile I’m noticing a slightly bitter aftertaste that milk might eliminate but I’m hesitant to add milk to something with a green tea base. I’ll give it a try on the next cup maybe.

The second steeping (for 4.5 minutes and at a slightly lower water temperature) was significantly less minty although the fruitiness was rather deminished aswell. Still the flavours of the actual black and green teas came through more nicely than before.

There wasn’t any instructions on how long to brew this tea so I put the bag in for 3.5 minutes. I might play around with that some more. The mint flavour is a bit overwhelming although there’s a distinct (and quite nice) fruity-floral aftertaste.

This one is so-so, I can taste both the green and black but I don’t think mixing these two types of teas really does it any favors. If anything you sort of loose the distinct flavours of each one.

Should I add milk to this? The tea is a little bitter without, but adding it to a green tea is a no no.

I’m a university student in her twenties who’s currently working her way toward a Bachelor of Natural Resource Science degree. I love both science and science-fiction and I’m a history nut on top of that. Maybe I should just call myself a nerd and leave it there. ;)

I’ve been drinking tea since I was young but it’s only in the past couple years that I’ve become interested in the good-quality stuff.
