This is the first Verdant Tea I have ever tried! It was from the 5 for $5 sampler that I received a few weeks ago; however, I was waiting for the right moment to dive into these teas. Anyway, I have only brewed teas western style, so brewing this tea with Verdant’s directions was an experiment.

1st steep (after rinsing): 20 sec, rock-metallic flavor. I am confused at this point.

2nd steed: 30 sec, metallic flavor plus buttery-ness at the end of the sip

3-5th steeps: progressively longer steeps, lots of buttery goodness.

Overall, I really enjoyed this tea experiment. I may have underleafed, or I may just not me used to the more subtle flavors of oolongs. Either way, I have enough of my sample left for at least one more tasting, plus my other 4 Verdant samples!

Keep experimenting, it’s worth the effort and the best way to learn more about your taste preferences. I watch videos on the verdant channel now and then to remind myself how beautiful it is to pour tea (I’ve been using a gaiwan about 2 years but I’m still a beginner).

I’m a medical student who just started drinking tea about 2 years ago. So far, I tend to gravitate towards fruity teas, mostly blacks. I know there is a lot in the tea world I have yet to explore. :)
