24 Tasting Notes

Apple Cinnamon from Higgins & Burke
82

I, weirdly enough (and out of all places), tried this at an AMC movie theatre. It was the only thing that was reasonably priced, $2 for a 14-16 oz cup.

After ordering and selecting my tea, this one I was in the mood for, I headed to my seats.

This tea was great, full of flavour, from start to finish.
Taste: Strong apple, very sweet apple, and hints of cinnamon. It was combined very well together, with good quality seeming ingredients, Very RICH.
Smell: Like Apple Cinnamon, it was just really rich.

Overall I would recommend this tea over many of the other apple cinnamon’s I have had.
I say go for it!

Darjeeling from Bigelow
8

Dry, Burnt, and Harsh.

It leaves a terrible burnt aftertaste, originated by a dark dark dry sip of it.

Definitely not my favourite. In fact, I dread this one.

Pure Chamomile from Twinings
73

I was forced to use this when I ran out of Loose leaf Chamomile from Davids and Teaopia. It was a sad… sad day…

However I would not let my relaxing night time routine stop because I used all my loose leaf, I looked in the cupboard, and there was Twinings.

I do not know much about Twinings, this was the first time I have had one of their teas.

My expectations weren’t too high, so I boiled the water as usual and let steep for 5minutes. I was surprised to taste a modest earthiness to it, which brought back memories of Davids chamomile, it was not as exciting as Davids, but it was a good chamomile tea.

Smooth and Relaxing – Those are my guidelines for Chamomile teas (and Herbal sometimes). Since it was both, I found one folly. It was rather weak, and I much preferred other chamomiles.

But go for it, it is a great tea none the less.

Calm from Tazo
69

I love it,
The taste is smooth and relaxing.
More so, I enjoyed the taste of the smooth chamomile, crisp mint, and light lemon to add.
Everything about this tea is relaxing, from the name to the smell, to the first sip.

I love it with a bit of honey, when I get it at starbucks.

I recommend it, if you are having a bad day, lighten up with this cup of tea!

Vanilla Rooibos Parfait from Tazo
61

As a fan of Rooibos, my mom decided to get me it as a gift one day while I was home.
I admire the smell of it when I had opened the tin, it was quite satisfying.
During my first cup, I enjoyed the great robust full flavour the Rooibos had, while it was somewhat sweetened by the other ingredients.

The taste was quite good, but I would prefer just the rooibos, so not my favourite.
I put a little bit of honey in aswell, it was a bit better, more satisfying.

If you like trying different rooibos, go for this, it isn’t bad!

Passion from Tazo
Chamomile from Tim Hortons
51

I am a huge fan of Chamomile teas!
Especially the ‘Organic Egyptian Chamomile’ from Davids
This one from Tims was alright.
The taste seemed somewhat artificial, and so did the colour of the tea, made me think it was processed more possibly.

Not terrible, but wouldn’t ever be my first choice.

Green Tea from Tim Hortons
21

Tims green.
Taste is rather dry and burnt.
Has no distinct flavour, atleast for a green tea.
Seems poor quality and cheap.

Buy if you must, if you want all those crazy benefits and have no qualiTea around.

Peppermint from Tim Hortons
55

Once again, I work at Tims, so I had the opportunity to try this tea.
Not being a fan of the other ones, I remembered this one from when I was a kid.
It was good. Or atleast in my memories.

Taste – Mild-moderate peppermint, depends on how you steep
however it tastes good, and you get what you want out of it, peppermint.

There is no way you can really hate this tea, it is what it is, and the quality seems okay.

Earl Grey from Tim Hortons
24

I had the chance to try the tea today, as I work at Tim Hortons, finding that the rest of their teas are mediocre. I have tried just about all the teas there, and since trying many teas from Davids and Teaopia, I feel as if the ones at Tims are cheap and low quality.

None the less I tried this tea.
It’s smell was rather flat, it was not something that would bright up your face.
Strong smell of burnt black tea and licorice.
Taste? I found it tasted nothing like some fine quality Earl Greys I had before, it was just plain and boring, tasteless.

Shame on you Tims.

Mother's Little Helper (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
97

Amazing and calming.
Great for sleep, not much more to be said.

Strong mint and lemongrass taste.
Light on the chamomile side.
Removes all anxiety, and delicious and crisp.

Egyptian Chamomile (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
100

My favourite tea.
Has a strong smooth chamomile flavour.
It doesn’t deserve anything lower than 80
It is fabulous and flowery. Tasty, smooth.

RELAXATION TO THE MAX;
Perfect to help you calm your mind and sleep.

Fantastic.

Creme Brulee from DAVIDsTEA
83

I just had this tea right now, it is FANTASTIC.
Green rooibos, honeybush, oh, so GOOD.
I add a little bit of sugar, and it is sweet with light caramel flavour.
A smooth rooibos taste follows the sweetness, rather light.

Puts me in a great mood:)

Dragon Pearls from DAVIDsTEA
87

My favourite green tea.
Amazing, you can taste the quality, and admire the beauty as the pearls unfold.
It has a somewhat salty, and earthy taste to it.
Very smooth and balanced.
It was somewhat bitter, but very interesting for a green tea.

Interesting = Dragon Pearls = Amazing.

Amaretto from DAVIDsTEA
67

Right of the bat, you get a deep smell of Amaretto, complimented by the nutty smell of almonds.

I steeped for 5 minutes, let it sit for 30 minutes, and than began to drink.
It was spicy sweet, and incredibly delicious.

Checkmate from DAVIDsTEA
78

Great.
I keep 50 grams of this tea on hand all the time.
The mixture of white and black tea is amazing, but the delicious coconut just makes it all that much better.
I steeped it for 5 minutes, with a little bit of sugar, it was amazing. Period.
The roman chamomile, can’t necessarily taste… to me atleast, but adds to the beautiful ascetics of the tea, and from what I can tell, the smell.

Has a great sweet aroma of sweet black tea and coconut, with the distinct slight smell of a white tea.

Great to have on hand whenever, great in the morning, midday, whenever.

Long Life Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
49

Very very fruity. It is also very very heavy, all the fruit pieces.
So you are paying alot for the fruit, not as much for the Oolong.
I do agree it is quite sweet, and relatively tasty, but not the bang for your buck.
If that isn’t your concern, it is alright, but FRUITY.

Smells great however, but not my cup of tea.

Long Life Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
49

Long life oolong…
What can I say, it is okay I guess.
It has a very deep fruity flavour, oh not to mention the beautiful smells.
But for the price of it, you use it up so quickly because it is so heavy the pieces of fruit and what not in it. So I would say not alot of bang for your buck.

This is not my cup of tea.

Alpine Punch from DAVIDsTEA
80

Rooibos.
This is amazing.

I bought this right before Christmas, and it was absolutely perfect infront of the Christmas tree and fire.
There is nothing else like sitting down like this, watching your favourite program, or reading a book.

You get that classic rooibos taste (if you know what I mean :P) plus the other ingredients in it that makes you feel like you are you took a breath of fresh air.
Please don’t get confused, this is not like peppermint, it just has a perfectly sharp, clean taste.

Can’t remember every detail :P
but always a favourite!!!

Nepal Black Tea from DAVIDsTEA
91

I love simple black teas.
So I went to Davids to try some, and I came out of there with Nepal Black, and Davids Darjeeling.

I just have to say that Nepal black is amazingly smooth and rich with flavour.
If you love black teas, this will not let you down.
The taste is dark yet smooth, so I would say it is perfectly balanced.

Great in the morning, great overall.

Vanilla Oolong from DAVIDsTEA
94

Oh my. THIS IS A GREAT OOLONG TEA!
What a great vanilla, sweet, smooth smell!
With the smell being so amazing, it does not let you down.
The great flavour of the oolong tea blends in perfectly with the vanilla aroma and hinting taste. Strong alcohol type smell, mixed with the vanilla when steeped.
I would absolutely recommend this tea! I have it in the morning, and it starts the day off perfectly!

Go and get this now, if you love vanilla.
Put a lil bit of sugar in it, and it is a ROLLER COASTER RIDE.
Well, not quite, but it is AMAZING.

Goji Pop from DAVIDsTEA
80

An absolutely fabulous tea!
Sits perfectly as a treat, whenever you are in the mood.
It is very sweet, and has a sweet berry like smell.

Can’t say much more, its generally great.

Forever Nuts from DAVIDsTEA
84

This is a great tea,
Being a caffeine free tea, I figured this would be great in the mid afternoon, as I find Chamomile is the best before bed.
It smells almost as if it was a bag of tiny toms donuts, delicious.
After putting in the recommended amount, I did find it suited my needs.
Taste: Great nutty flavour, with hints of sweet apple.
Aroma: Tiny toms donuts, not so much apple smelling, very nutty
Great with a teaspoon of sugar, or a little more to hit your sweet tooth!
It is a great afternoon treat, very satisfying!

Buttered Rum (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
67

I did enjoy this tea, as it was a black tea, it was quite smooth.
The loose leaf had a great smell, just as it is titled “Buttered rum”
I did find I had to put a little more than 1.5 tbs, just to get a more darker and defined flavour, or else I found it was rather watered down.
The taste none the less was balanced, smooth, and relatively sweet.
It is definitely not my favourite, but it was good.

Profile

Bio

Sociology at the University of Guelph in Canada. I have become intrigued with different range and varieties of tea, thanks to the introduction to them from the great employee’s at Davids tea. I enjoy Chamomile, Rooibos, and Oolong teas by far the most. I do not necessarily have a type I am not in favour of; I love green, black, and white teas as-well.

Here I would love to share my opinion of the fabulous teas I have tried!
