Second cup of the morning. The dry leaves smell fruity and sweet and the tea itself has a fruity and floral aroma. This is a simple tea, with mainly a sweet, fresh passionfruit flavor. There is a heavy, lingering aftertaste of fruit. Milk and sweetener helps to take the edge off of the heavy fruit taste, and the fruit flavors blend together well. I want to try this tea iced!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves with pieces of dried apple and yellow petals.
-Dry leaves smell fruity and sweet. Tea liquor aroma is fruity and floral.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium orange brown color.
-Fresh sweet passionfruit flavor and finish. Heavy and lingering fruit aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Heavy and sweet passionfruit flavor.

drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA

So I have a love affair with salt. I always have. I put it on everything. This year my Easter basket from my Mom had all kinds of gourmet salts in it, yum! Even black lava salt from Hawaii, I was so excited! I love chocolate with sea salt, and also caramel with sea salt. This tea was recommended after my not-so-great experience with Cococaramel Sea Salt from Teavana, so I am excited to try it.

The dry leaves smell like sweet caramel with an odd hint of vinegar, and the tea liquor is the same. It’s not terrible, like the vinegary smell in Butterscotch from Angelina’s Teas, but I definitely noticed it. Thankfully there is none of that sour taste in the tea. There is a malty and buttery flavor with a light, rich caramel aftertaste. I’m definitely tasting the caramel, but not so much the salt. Maybe a little bit in the aftertaste, or that may be because I want to be able to taste the salt so bad! Overall, this is a nice tea, even without the salt. I will just have to keep looking for my perfect sweet/salty tea. Thank you, akgrowngirl for this tea! :)

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs with small pieces of candy and coconut.
-Dry leaves smell like sweet caramel with a little hint of vinegar. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet caramel and vinegar.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark brown color.
-Malty and buttery flavor and finish. Light rich caramel aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A sweet caramel cup. Little salt noticeable.

I just made a cup of this and I’m getting ready to take my first sip.

Josie Jade

:) It’s a good cup to start the day with!

Anyanka

As someone with 9 (9!!) different kinds of salt on her kitchen counter, I understand.

Josie Jade

Haha, glad I’m not the only salt lover, Anyanka. My mom got the salts for me from San Francisco Salt Company, I’m pretty impressed so far!

This is the last new tea that I purchased last week from A Southern Season. I shared some with my Mom in her Easter basket, and had a cup on Easter afternoon while we were cooking. I’m really loving this one. The dry leaves smell just like lemon cake, and the tea liquor has a sweet, creamy lemon aroma. The flavor is tart lemon and there is a rooibos, honeybush and sweet lemon aftertaste. You can definitely taste the rooibos and honeybush in this one, but I actually don’t even mind because it blends so well with the other flavors. Adding a little sweetener brings out some of the cakey notes, and a little milk makes the cup nice and creamy. This is really delicious tea, and I am so happy that I can have a cup right before bed! :)

-Dry blend has red rooibos and honeybush with blue and yellow petals and pieces of dried lemon.
-Dry blend smells like lemon cake. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet and creamy lemon.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium reddish brown color.
-Tart lemon flavor and finish. Rooibos, honeybush and sweet lemon cake aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Excellent tea. A creamy and sweet dessert tea. Reminiscent of lemon cake.

Have you tried Lemon Chiffon from Della Terra? If so, I’m curious as to how it compares :)

ohfancythat

Me too! Man, A Southern Season seems to have lots of tasty sounding teas

Josie Jade

I haven’t tried Lemon Chiffon, and just placed my first order with Della Terra. I ordered the Lime Chiffon, I think! :)

I received a swap today from akgrowngirl, and this is the first tea that I’m trying. I’ve wanted to try this for awhile now, and it smells deliciously nutty. The flavor is sweet and nutty with a coconut aftertaste that lingers. It’s a nice balance – not too nutty but with a hint of sweetness, from the coconut and raisins, I’m guessing. There’s a warm toastiness to it that makes you want to take another sip. Glad this one lived up to my expectations! Thank you akgrowngirl!

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves with large pieces of coconut and raisins.
-Dry leaves smell heavily of nuts and coconut. Tea liquor aroma is toasty and nutty.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium orange brown color with an oily sheen on top.
-Sweet nutty flavor and finish. Light toasty coconut aftertaste that lingers.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. A toasty and nutty cup with a hint of sweetness.

I keep reading amazing comments about this tea, so I’m having a quick cup to see for myself before leaving for class. I was surprised at the aroma of this tea. The dry leaves smell earthy with a hint of rich cocoa. The tea liquor smells malty with a little hint of smokiness. The flavor is very robust with a light smokey aftertaste. Adding a little sweetener brings out some nice honey notes. I like this tea, but probably won’t purchase more than this little sample pack. I like the honey and malty flavor, but not the smokiness.

-Dry blend has medium black and brown tea leaves and twigs.
-Dry leaves smell like earthy black tea with a hint of cocoa. Tea liquor aroma is malty with a little smokiness.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium golden brown color.
-Strong and robust flavor and finish with honey notes. Light smokey cocoa aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Malty and smokey flavor.

drank Rose Scented by Harney & Sons

I have a ton of Harney’s samples to get through, and this is the first. I love rose teas, so I knew this one had to be on my try list to see if I need to purchase a tin. This one smells wonderful, like walking through a rose garden in full bloom. The tea tastes nice and light – not too strong of a black tea and not too heavy on the rose. It’s perfectly balanced, like almost all of Harney’s teas are. I’m really enjoying this cup this morning. Definitely will be getting a tin!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs with pink and yellow rose petals.
-Dry leaves smell like perfumey rose. Tea liquor aroma is of black tea with a hint of rose.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium orange brown color.
-Light black tea and rose flavor and finish. Light floral aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener. Milk optional.
-Excellent tea. A lightly flavored rose cup.

This is another tea that I purchased from A Southern Season. They also sell Mariage Freres and I was SO close to purchasing a tin. I had it narrowed down to two of them, and then pulled up Steepster quickly on my phone to help me decide. Some of the reviews that I read for both teas made me think that I wouldn’t like them. I couldn’t justify spending $24 for tea that I didn’t know if I would love, so no Mariage Freres this time. Next time I will definitely be doing my research beforehand about which blends I would probably like so I know what to get!

On to this tea . . . it smells heavenly – all cinnamon and nutty. The flavor is fruity and nutty with a really fresh nutty aftertaste. It’s a little sweet on its own, but I added a little sweetener and it brought out a tiny bit more of the fruit flavors. Then I added milk, which made it a little creamy and comforting, but definitely dulled some of the flavors. After reading the list of ingredients I thought this tea would be more fruity, but nuts are really the main taste in this cup. This is one of those teas where it smells so much better than it tastes. I just wish the flavor was a little stronger. Smelling it you think it’s going to be overwhelmingly flavorful and it’s actually a little weak with the mellow, nutty taste. I think this would be a nice cup for the wintertime.

-Dry blend has red rooibos with pieces of candied fruits, coconut and nuts.
-Dry blend smells sweetly of cinnamon and nuts. Tea liquor aroma is of warm spicy fruits.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark reddish brown color with an oily sheen on top.
-Fruity and nutty flavor and finish. Fresh nut aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A fresh nutty flavor with just a hint of sweet fruit. No rooibos taste.

Can you get Moriage Freres on their website or only in stores?

Josie Jade

I’m not sure, I’ve not looked into that. This store is the only one in our area (that I know of) that sells Mariage Freres.

I can’t believe that I haven’t rated this one yet. It’s one of my favorites! The dry leaves smell like sweet black currant and bergamot, and the tea liquor aroma is of fruit and sweet caramel. The flavor is malty with caramel and vanilla notes. There is a light, sweet black currant aftertaste. I could drink this tea all day long, and sometimes I go through phases where I will start every day with a cup of this tea. I like that you can taste the black tea base and the pops of fruitiness and sweet caramel and vanilla. It’s a perfect cup of tea to me!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs.
-Dry leaves smell strongly of sweet black currant and bergamot. Tea liquor aroma is of fruit and sweet caramel.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark brown color.
-Malty caramel and vanilla flavor and finish. Light sweet black currant aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Excellent tea. A perfect balance of flavors.

My local coffee shop (Dutch Bros) makes a killer cup of Paris tea:) I just take it plain but I’m glad I have the Harney and Sons option when I’m on my way to work in the morning.

Josie Jade

I love this tea! It seems to be pretty resistant to over-steeping also. I usually just throw it in a steeper in the mornings until I’m ready to walk out of the door and it’s just fine. :)

Janefan

I love this blend too. Maybe I’ll have some now!

:) Hope you enjoy, Janefan!

I picked up this one on Thursday also. I’m not sure why I wanted to try it so bad, but it was one of those things where I would pick it up, look at it, then put it back down and move on to another tea. Then come back to it again. I eventually just decided to get it. The dry leaves smell like sweet marzipan and coconut. The flavor is a lot stronger than I expected, with vegetal and nutty notes and a strong, fresh coconut finish. I think this would be a good iced tea during the summer also, since it tastes a little tropical and is refreshing. Glad I decided to purchase this one!

-Dry blend has large long flat green tea leaves with slices of almond and small pieces of coconut.
-Dry leaves smell very sweetly of marzipan and coconut. Tea liquor aroma is of fresh green tea and sweet nuts.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium yellow color.
-Vegetal and nutty almond flavor with a strong fresh coconut finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Very good tea. A strongly flavored cup of sweet almonds and fresh coconut.

Sadly no. I was just passing through Chapel Hill and only had enough time to run through Southern Season! :(

I purchased this tea on Thursday when I stopped by A Southern Season. We had it yesterday at our afternoon tea, but for some reason I didn’t love it. I had another cup this morning and did love it, maybe because I paid more attention to the steeping time. Anyways, without milk and sweetener it’s a strong black tea with just a really light hint of vanilla. With milk and sweetener it becomes rich, creamy vanilla. It’s more of a sugary dessert vanilla taste, rather than an authentic vanilla bean taste, but nothing artificial in the flavor. A nice dessert tea!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs.
-Dry leaves smell like rich and sugary vanilla. Tea liquor aroma is of vanilla and black tea.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium brown color.
-Strong malty flavor with a hint of creamy vanilla.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. A malty cup with a creamy rich vanilla flavor.
