270 Tasting Notes
I have had so many teas that I have yet to try. I am preparing for my first swap so I thought I would try a few of them to dictate how much I want to keep. This will be an opportunity to learn what I enjoy and pass on what I don’t.
With the weather finally cooling down, this is a perfect fall tea. It indeed smells like a campfire. The taste is interesting. I don’t know what “smoky” is but I believe that this tea is a smoky tea? It almost wraps me in memories of sitting around the campfire with the smell of pine teas surrounded by family. It took me a while and most of the population may not get this. There are different types of fires and they have distinct smells. When I reached the end of this cup, it dawned on me that this mostly reminded me of a sauna. This makes sense as usually we would swim all day, clean up in the sauna, then have family time around the fire. Definitely brought me back home (I’m a dislocated yooper).
In my opinion this is a beautiful, well crafted, thoughtful, flavorful tea. Thank you Whispering Pines!
Preparation
This was a pleasant relaxing tea. The main taste I get out of it is the mint. It’s not super strong but it evens everything out and makes it refreshing. While I like my fruity herbals it is nice to have something a little on the lighter side before bed once in a while.

The boyfriend surprised me when the dog and I got back from our morning walk. He went, “I thought this one would go well with breakfast!” As he plates eggs and bacon for the two of us. This may be because we had a sort of heated conversation last night, lol.
On to the tea:
He was right, it did go well with breakfast. Perfect for a fall-ish morning. I don’t quite think it is fall here in Missouri yet but it was less than 50 degrees on the walk so it’s coming. It smelled of cinnamon and had a pleasant taste. I am happy that I enjoyed a black tea but don’t think I will be ordering more of it.
At first when I read this, I thought it said, My boyfriend surprised me with a dog…
So I’m thinking…cool, what kind of dog was it?
Once I got to the part about the dog going well with breakfast, I knew I’d missed something. :)

I think it was of an issue of me being kind of dyslexic when I first wake up :)
Re steeping the leaves and adding to the first slightly over steeped bath worked well. I let it chill overnight and put it over ice this morning. Added a couple Truvia packets and it pulls out a very refreshing note which I think would be mint as this is mojito? I used a lot of leaf to make this so if I plan on keeping it around I’ll need bulk!
It is not letting me drag the preparation items (I’m on my phone) so, below (mostly to help me recreate) is how I prepared.
10 tsp leaf
20 is ounces
Steep for 3 (?) Min first steep, second 1.5 min
Put both steeps in my glass jug
Chill overnight

After becoming nearly addicted to this tea-lemonade from Starbucks, I finally ordered this. Sadly, I forgot to set a timer! As a result it has a little of a funny taste. I have it cooling in the jug now. I’m thinking of resteeping the leaves and adding them to see if it will help :)
Herbal TTB – I think this would be excellent iced. Hot, i get the feeling that some of the flavors are hiding. Very pleasant. I could see buying this from time to time. Currently, I am collecting quite the amount of tea! I am close to hitting the $500 I thought I was going to spend on tea in a year, crazy how quick it adds up!

I love the color of hibiscus teas. Such a pretty color.
I agree, purple and associated colors are my favorite.
