Oh wow… I have to hold on to my socks because they are about to fly off. This is some delicious Dragonwell.

I got it as a sample with my order couple of weeks ago and been waiting to try it. I used about half of the packet for 8 ounces of 80C water. The dry tea smelled fresh and vegetal and its color was beautifully green.

I steeped it for 2 minutes and was a little worried about the time because I usually steep my Dragonwell for 5 minutes… I did have a little less water though and visually this Dragonwell looked better quality than what I’m used to so I went along with it.

The resulting liquid was very pale green and … oh my… 2 minutes was plenty and the taste: divine. It was sweet, creamy, buttery, vegetal, rich, crisp, nutty and magic…. It was magic… So very tasty, I didn’t know Dragonwell can be this amazing! It almost reminded me a tad of milk oolong, there was this natural milkiness to it that drove me crazy with every sip.

Teavivre, what have you done? How in the world can I finish the rest of the regular Dragonwell that I have, knowing this type of creamy goodness exists? How can I look my old and trusted Dragonwell in the tin and say “I love you”?

I have to have a plan…. and this plan might be drinking a lot of Dragonwell in the near future to deplete my inventory and order this sock blowing, yummy excellence instead.

i have an idea – give it away. from now on i try to drink only what I’m crazy about. unless its a sample. i have a tea buddy (not on Steepster, just regular friend) who i dump all my less fave or boring teas. she is ecstatic and thinks I’m crazy. thank G-d she doesnt know all my real numbers:)

Kamyria

LOL I know you are right… lets see if I can do this without feeling terribly awful about it…

TheTeaFairy

Haha! Kamyria, I just had a similar experience with a milk oolong yesterday, I feel I have to dump my current milk oolong for Mandala’s, the current one just seems like a pale version in comparison!

TheTeaFairy

BTW, I also like this tea a lot, I’m out cause you have to drink it fast I find, to keep that fresh taste present (how could you not drink it fast, right?) Great review :-)

Kamyria

Thanks! It’s sad outgrowing a favourite tea but inevitable as we taste more and more and more. :D

Bio

It’s been a while since I joined Steepster and I think it’s time to write up a bio.

I’m a stay at home, married mom with 5 kids, most of them grown up. Only one remains with us now, my 7 year old sunshine which I push out of the house to school every morning and it’s not an easy thing to do.

I’m an avid gardener during a growing season and my goal is to grow most of the food we eat and save some for winter too. I’m also an artist and a huge nerd. I read books, I play computer games. My very first game was World of Warcraft (was addicted to it solid for a year, lol), then came Skyrim, Minecraft (with my 7 year old) and few others less memorable along the way.

I began drinking tea on regular basis just over 2 years ago when I decided to kick my morning coffee habit. It wasn’t pretty… I couldn’t function for 3 days straight but survived. A year ago I discovered loose tea and found Steepster… The rest is history.

Some of the staples in my cupboard are Dragonwell green tea, Japanese sencha, Silver Needle white tea, green roobois, darjeeling and pu’erh. I also drink variety of flavored teas for fun and I like to order tisanes and mix them with straight teas for even more variety.

Recently I found out how much I love oolong so will be stocking up on that as well.

There are few other tea lovers in my family: my mom and dad, my oldest daughter, my son and my youngest 7 year old. She loves when I try out different teas and I always have to remember to make enough for her to have a little taste.
