My Butiki tea’s arrived this morning after just over a week of waiting in anticipation :) This one was chosen at random by my husband from the big magical box of tea and as soon as I opened the bag the most magical sweet and nutty fragrance filled my nostrils. It resembles a fresh pecan pie and words cannot describe how wonderful it smells. Infact it smells so delicious that my cats have been trying to steal it from me!

This was brewed due to the instructions given and for the first taste test I have not included any sugar or sweetener.

Colour: Gold with brown tinges

First sip: WOW. Second sip: Wowzers! I can detect the pecan nuttiness and the natural sweetness of maple but it doesn’t dominate (which is a huge plus). The oolong is more noticeable about half way down the cup but it blends in very well and only adds to the flavouring instead of taking anything away. A slight citrus is noted too at this point but only very slight, like very subtle lemongrass.

Each sip has the same burst of flavours and it has been a while since I felt this but I will be upset to see this cup come to an end, I could drink gallons of this. I think adding sugar would pro-long the sweetness for those with a sweet tooth but I find the natural sweetness to it enchanting enough.

All I can say is wow, this is my new favourite flavoured Oolong.

Bio

I’m 26 years old from Leicester, England named Kayleigh. I have a wonderful husband called Richard whom I am very lucky to have in my life.

I started off many years ago drinking herbal and fruit teas which over time peaked my interest in trying new types. Eventually I began to import and sample many different teas and cultures which I still do today. My life goal is to try as many teas and ways of having tea as possible.

Tea wise my cravings change constantly from pu erh one month to jasmine green to the next and so on.

I adore cats and have four of my own called Honey, Cassie, Mr Soots and Ivory.

I also have two fish tanks which thankfully my cats have no interest in. They house an array of tropical fish and shrimp.

I am a proud vegetarian and have been for the majority of my life. When I say vegetarian I mean just that as well, no fish or seafood, no chicken now and again, no animal products such as gelatine and cochineal.

I also enjoy watching Japanese Anime and horror films.

I am always up for tea swaps so if you see anything in my virtual cupboard then please contact me.

A short list to help swapping with me easier though honestly I am not fussy and am willing to try anything. Plus the notes below are usually, sometimes I love a tea that has an ingredient I tend to dislike and other times I hate a tea that I thought I would love.

Likes: Any fruit but especially melon and orange, vanilla, all tea types (black, green, white etc), nuts (any), flowers, ginger, chai.

Dislikes: Licorice, aniseed, clove, eucalyptus, lavender.
