My final cup of the day, I shall end it with this lovely dark cup of yumminess. I’m just finishing the last chapter of a book and thought the caffeine kick would help me to speed read :)

As soon as I opened the bag a lovely, thick and sweet yet earthy fragrance filled my kitchen and had me mesmerized with it’s cheekiness. Cut into teeny tiny pieces this rooibos (red bush) tea danced around when the water was poured over them.

Colour: Golden brown.
Smell: Very sweet with layers of thickness.

sip Now that is a lovely rooibos, very smooth and sweet but still light and refreshing whilst leaving a wonderful after taste. As for the caramel it does taste like dark caramel with perhaps a little less sugary sweetness than the real thing. Here is to natural sweetness thumbs up.

Overall I think this is one of my favourite rooibos mixtures as it’s tasty and effective. Perfect for when I want a sweet treat without the calories. :)

drank Blood Orange by Adagio Teas

I am still loving this tea despite the redness in colour due to hibiscus and the slight bitterness it adds to the taste. Still orangey and still yummy.

drank Coconut by Adagio Teas

This smells gorgeous and very edible (almost like coconut cream pie which by the way you cannot buy in the UK :(). The loose leaves are curled into wonderful yet coincidental shapes and spotted amongst them are pure white coconut strips.

Lets see the basics:
Look: Brown…like a coconut shell
Smell – Coconut
Taste: Coconut with earthy tones.

There you have it, this looks, smells and tastes like coconut so if you want a tea that literally is what it says it is then here we have a winner. The balance is nice between the ceylon and the coconut, it’s not too strong or too weak but somewhere in the middle with no bad or bitter after tastes and no artificial sweetness.

Very enjoyable and relaxing.

My mother told me she is buying me some Adagio tea’s for Christmas this year so that means I need to get started on the Adagio that I already have. :)

This looks very dark brown and mystical once brewed and smells very earthy. I love my black tea’s strong and this certainly fits that description but it’s also very refreshing which makes it a wonderful drink. Sometimes strength can end up over taking everything else and you are left with a bitter cup of what looks like (and perhaps tastes like) mud but this balance is lovely.

After half the cup you start to pick up some of the caffeine buzz and each sip becomes slightly stronger yet sweeter than the last.

I have a few Yunnan tea’s that I have imported personally and I must say that this is one of the most pleasant that I have had considering the strength, balance, colour, taste etc.

Undertones are of a slightly smokey and only a touch of bitterness but you expect those with most black tea’s anyway. I would recommend this to anyone who likes black tea and is looking for a ‘special occasion’ black tea or just purely to try something different.

A hard day at work and another tea while on break. The orange in this sounds perfect for me at this moment in time.

Colour: Red…it looks like a berry tea.
Smell: Fruity – It does smell like sweet mango.

Taste: With this tea being red (which was a surprise) I imagine it’s due to the hibiscus and after one taste I find that I am correct. It’s sharp, sour and bitter all in one but with an added fruity taste to blend it altogether. It’s not so much of an orange, cinnamon or mango tea as it is a hibiscus tea. I cannot really taste orange or cinnamon at all. I don’t think this will be a regular in my tea cupboard.

Profile

Bio

I’m 34 years old from Leicester, England named Kayleigh.

I started off many years ago drinking herbal and fruit teas which over time peaked my interest in trying new types. Eventually I began to import and sample many different teas and cultures which I still do today. My life goal is to try as many teas and ways of having tea as possible.

Tea wise my cravings change constantly from pu erh one month to jasmine green to the next and so on.

I also enjoy watching Japanese Anime and horror films.

I am always up for tea swaps so if you see anything in my virtual cupboard then please contact me.

A short list to help swapping with me easier though honestly I am not fussy and am willing to try anything. Plus the notes below are usually, sometimes I love a tea that has an ingredient I tend to dislike and other times I hate a tea that I thought I would love.

Likes: Any fruit but especially melon and orange, vanilla, all tea types (black, green, white etc), nuts (any), flowers, ginger, chai.

Dislikes: Licorice, aniseed, clove, eucalyptus, lavender.

My rating system
I have my own way of rating teas that makes each one personal. I have different categories, I rate each tea depending on what it is made of. For example: I rate green teas in a different way to black teas or herbal teas. So black, white, green, Pu Erh, Rooibos, Oolong, blends and tisanes all have their own rating system. That way I can compare them with other teas of the same or similar type before for an adequate rating. And when I do give top marks which is very rare I am actually saying that I would love to drink that tea all day, every day if possible. It’s a tea that I would never turn down or not be in the mood for. So while I agree that no tea is 100% perfect (as nothing is) I am saying that it’s as close as it comes to it. After all, in my book the perfect teas (or close to perfect anyway) are ones that I could drink all the time. That is why you will find a high quality black or Oolong will not have as high a score as a cheap flavoured blend, they are simply not being compared in the same category.
