I am not a fan of dessert teas, or rooibos, but I had to try this because it had pistachio in it. I love pistachio.

The dry tea is a mix of rooibos, dried apple pieces and whole pistachio nuts. The dry tea and brewed tea smells like nutty pistachio.

The brewed tea tastes like candied apple or dried apple pieces, there is the taste of pistachio, very nutty tasting. But there is also a strong rooibos taste.

Overall this tea is OK. It certainly lives up to its name.

Sounds promising… except for the strong rooibos taste :(

drank Grand Amour by Nina's Paris

Thank you to Nina’s Paris USA via Kittenna for this free sample.

When I was growing up, we had red currants growing in our yard. My dad used to make wine from them. I can remember going out and picking the currants off of the bush when they were ripe.

The dry and brewed tea smell like red currant. There is also a hint of raspberry. The brewed tea has a smell of strong caramel.

The tea tastes like red currants and caramel. It is not sweet but also not bitter or tart. I like it this way.

J’adore Grand Amour!

I really like this tea, but haven’t found another one yet that I like as much, and shipping is pretty expensive.

Lala

I made an order through Laurent, and shipping was not too horrible (compared to some tea companies), but I had to order a lot to make it worth while. I hope that once the company gets started that shipping will be better.

Hi Lala,do you receved your order?

Sil

I have this one on deck to try

drank Grapefruit Dragon by Butiki Teas
871 tasting notes

I am not obsessed with dragons, but for some reason I have an obsession for trying teas with the word “dragon” in the name. So far I have not been disappointed.

This dry tea and brewed tea smell like the peppery spicey taste you get in a tart rind of the grapefruit. The brewed tea itself taste like a pink grapfruit. There is still that peppery spice taste that I get with real grapefruit. The grapefruit taste gets stronger as the tea cools. When the tea is hot the predominate flavour is the dragonwell. I did not feel I needed to add any sweetener to this tea as it was not tart or bitter. But I do think it would have tasted more like a sweet grapefuit with sweetener.

Very nice blend. I have never had a tea that actually tasted like grapefruit, but this one fit the bill.

so you may try Thé du Dragon from Mariage frères to continue with your obsession :)

That sounds good. Definitely will have to try!

drank Cantaloupe and Cream by Butiki Teas
871 tasting notes

Wow!!!! Thanks Sil for sending this in a swap.

The tea is white tea leaves with small yellow flowers in it.

After brewing, I smelled the tea an exclaimed, to no one as I was alone in the house, “Wow! That smells good!”. I have been sitting and smelling it for the last 10 minutes. I didn’t even want to taste it becuase it smelled so good. It smells like juicy canteloupe. There is also a creamy scent. So far it definitely lives up to its name.

And it tastes just like canteloupe. Wow (again)! This is one good tea. I am going to cherish my sample of this one.

Thanks a bazillion Sil!

So I figured out why I was confused about the tangerine parfait tea I reviewed earlier today. I initially thought it was a black tea, but it turned out to be a white tea. I was confused becuase I guess I bought two orange teas. This one, sweet orange, is a black tea. Who would have though a tea addict would buy tea and then forget what they bought :P

This tea is black tea mixed with orange peel. It smells like candied orange.

The smell of the brewed tea is more so just sweet orange, like a ripe mandarin, but not candy. The black tea is also strong, and you can smell that underneath the orange smell.

The tea tastes like a black tea with an orange flavouring in it. I added rock sugar to sweeten it up a bit but it made no difference.

In regards to an orange tea, I prefer the tangerine parfait from Cuppa T Specialty Teas vs this one.

I tend to brew my oolongs my version of western style. I used 1tsp in 90C water for 1 minute.

The dry tea is green nuggets of tea. It smells of a green oolong, slightly vegetal, flowery, but there is a buttery and sweet aroma.

This tea tastes slightly sweet, slight hint of butter, almost on the verge of tasting like a milk oolong, but not quite. There is a hint of flowery taste, but is not perfumey tasting. The smell and taste reminds me of freshly baked sweet breads. Although, thats what it tastes like, it still feels like a light tasting tea, not heavy.

This is a tea that I could just drink all day long.

I was a bit surprised at first becuase I initially thought this was a black tea, but it didn’t look like a black tea after it was brewed. Its actually a white tea, oops. So I brewed it like a black, but it turned out really good.

There were beautiful sunflower petals mixed in with the tea and orange peels.

The tea is a dark yellow brown colour. There is a sweet spicey smell to it, slightly orange. I can’t quite determine what the spice is, but it might be licorice root, however, the tea does not taste like licorice root or cinnamon.

The tea tastes like sweet orange. Not quite tangerine, but it is not tart orange or bergamot. There is a slight spice to it, but it is not overpowering.

Initially I thought I should have added sweetener, but I am glad that I didn’t. Once it cooled slightly it was perfect.

Next time I am going to brew this one like a white tea and see how the flavours change.

I think this would be a great tea for anyone that likes orange, but not bergamot.

Thank you Sil for this sample.

This tea smells delicious. It smells like a strong black tea but there is a berry smell to it, red berry, maybe strawberry. The smell is a mystery.

The taste of the tea can be descibed as nothing other than delicious. Ther e is the subtle black base, but there is also a strong berry taste. I would say a mix of strawberry, blueberry and sweet cherry flavours.

Thank you Sil for giving me the opportunity to try this tea. I think it is just going to have to go on the shopping list.

Oh, my! This is a good one.

Now I couldn’t resist picking this one up based soley on the name. But the tea had an interesting look and smell to it.

The dry tea is colourful, and has dried fruit peices, flower petal, leaves, and peppercorns. It smells sweet and spicey at the same time. It smells almost herbal (but not medicinal), not so much minty or fruity or flowery.

The tea brews up golden yellow. The liquor smells the same as it did when it was dry. The tea tastes wonderful, and it is warming me from the inside out. I can’t even describe the taste of the tea. I am tasting slight mint, moreso peppermint than spearmint, I can also tast the verbena, cornflowers, peppercorns. There is a slight sweet finish to the tea, which I presume comes from the dried fruit, but don’t get me wrong, the tea is not at all fruity. At the absolute awesomest part of this tea is the wasabi! It does not taste like wasabi but it has the heat of wasabi. My tongue and throat and stomach are warm, but not burning. Thats the best part of wasabi in my opinion.

This was a hard one to describe. So instead of trying to further describe it, I am just going to drink it.

I’m a huge wasabi fan but putting it into tea never even kind of crossed my mind. But I can imagine how it would work like you described. Interesting.

Oh neat!

drank Laoshan Village Chai by Verdant Tea
871 tasting notes

I have a new favorite chai. I was trying to make my own chai blend, so the taste was just perfect, but I think I am going to have to abadon that, and just drink this tea from now on.

On first smell of the dry leaves, I immediately though ginger beef. It was so delicious, the ginger was strong which is a plus in my book. The brewed tea smells like a sweet, soft, ginger snap cookie. The taste is superb! It is malty, chocolately, cocoa, ginger, chai with a peppery finish. It is almost like ginger ice cream. This is an awesome blend.

I bought a small sized bag of this tea, but I am definitely going to have to stock up on this one.

My friend has been working on blending her own chai too, but when I told her about this one, she wanted me to order a bag for her! It’s so good!

Sil

I LOVE this chai!

Lala

I think I am going to have to get some laoshan black now, because I can pretty much guarantee I am going to love it!

Profile

Bio

I am a lifetime tea lover.

I did foray into the world of coffee for a period of time, but I returned to my true love. I still, however, enjoy a good cup of java.

My all time favorite tea is Earl Grey, which I drink every morning, the stronger the bergamot the better. I definitely prefer natural oil of bergamot to artificial flavouring.

I mostly like black and dark oolong teas. My current favs are Fujian blacks, Keemun and Assams, and Wuyi oolongs. I gravitate towards anything with lychee in it. I also drink a lot of herbal blends but am wary of hibiscus. I do not favour mate, or pu’erh tea, although I have found a few blends that I like. (I so badly want to like straight pu’erh tea but it all tastes gross to me. I keep trying though). Rooibos, green and white teas fall somewhere in the middle. I find myself gravitating towards heavily roasted oolongs and teas from Paris/France based companies.

I love iced teas and cold brews.

My current tea goal is to make the perfect cup of chai from scratch – almost there…I think.

I am in love with the whole experience of tea.
