I was a little worried about this tea becuase it smelled so strongly of lavender. I do not like lavender at all. The smell for some reason makes me nauseous. I can usually drink/eat something with lavender as long as the lavender is not too strong.

I figured I had to give the tea a try anyway.

Brewed the tea smells of sweet lavender. Less strong as the dry tea.

The tea tastes sweet. The lavender is definitely the prominent taste.

I couldn’t really finish the cup of this one. Its not a bad tea. I think it is actually a good blend. But I just can’t get over my dislike of lavender.

drank Citrus Lavender Sage by Teavana

I tried this one blended with peach tranquility, as recommended by Teavana.

I think I prefer these teas both separately, vs. together. While hot the tea tasted strongly of citrus, which didn’t mix well with the peach. As it started to cool, the peach became more prominent. The peach made the citrus lavender sage much sweeter. I do not taste any lavender or sage with this blend.

I think this tea is better as it cools, would be interesting to try iced. I think it makes and interesting and unique blend, but I prefer the teas each separately. I think I also need to try brewing a larger batch, I just brewed it for 10 oz.

I never would have thought to try these two teas blended together. I saw Teavana offering this brewed in store, I had the tea at home so I thought I would give it a try.

I find the strawberry rose champagne is very artificial tasting on its own. When blended with the peach tranquility the artificial taste is less (but I also used less of the strawberry tea because I was mixing). The tea had a bit of a sweeter taste, which I attribute to the peach tea. You can still definitely taste the rose flavour. To me it tastes more like peach rose champagne tea. The peach is the more dominating of the flavours.

I think this makes and OK blend, but I probably wouldn’t make it too often.

drank Citrus Lavender Sage by Teavana

The name of this tea threw me off a bit. I didn’t think it would be good at all. But I was wrong! It is delicious.

The dry tea smells of candied pineapples with an orange smell. You can smell the lavender as well. You can see the candied pineapple, orange rind, lavender and sage.

The brewed tea is a yellow colour similar to pineapple juice. It smells like warm pineapple with a citrous undertone.

The tea tastes delicious. I mostly taste the pineapple and sage. There is undernotes of orange. I don’t really taste the lavender, but I think the lavender makes it very smooth tasting. This tea is making me crave ham with pineapples and seasoned with sage. Mmmmmm. Even though the tea is fruity, it is not too sweet. The balance of flavours is good, and I didn’t even think of adding any sweetener. It tastes like it would be good iced as well.

This is part of Teavana’s Blissful moments tea of the month club. Each month two teas are delivered that are good on their own, or good blended together. This tea came with peach tranquility. I can already imagine what they taste like blended together, it is going to be wonderful.

That Tea of the Month Club from Teavana sounds fun – especially if it’s herbal like this. I personally love this tea, and I wonder what it would be like paired with other teas.

Lala

They have three different clubs. I chose this one because it was herbal. That way I can experiment at night!

Hmm, I will have to investigate! Thanks!

drank Sencha by Harney & Sons

Free sample from Harney and sons.

Bagged tea.

This is a delicious sencha. I was quite impressed. The smell of the dry tea is vegetal and creamy. The colour of the tea liquor is bright, light yellow-green. Smells vegetal, smooth and creamy. The taste is buttery, creamy, smooth, with just a hint of saltiness.

This is going on the shopping list.

I had to pick this tea up mostly becuase the colour of the packaging of the individual tea bags. Obvsiously the advertising worked on this one. Ha.

This double bergamot Earl Grey is wonderful. I find sometimes when there is increased bergamot, it does not work well with the black tea base, and can often become bitter. But this one is perfectly balanced. There is a strong bergamot smell that is consistent from the dry tea to the tea liquor. You can also taste the strong citrousy bergamot in the steeped tea. It is almost creamy over the black tea base.

I am happy I picked this one up. Damn pretty colours!!

I sort of forgot what this tea was. I am sure no on here on steepster has ever done that :P

The package only said champagne infused tea. When I opened it up, I was put off by the smell becuase it was so overly sweet, fruity, with a little bit of flowery smell. It didn’t really smell like champagne at all, but more like sparkling white wine. The dry tea is very pretty with white tea leaves mixed with flower petals.

Then I looked it up to see the ingredients and I remembered what it was. Champagne infused raspberry. Now it all makes sense.

The smell of the liquor is very much champagne. Only slightly sweet and fruity. A bit more dry like champagne is.

The taste of the tea is not so much champagne. There is a hint of the dryness you get with real champagne. There is a fruity flavour, but not terribly sweet. I wouldn’t say it is raspberry, but it could be. I definitley taste the safflower. I find with most teas meant to taste like wine, I would like to try it iced.

Edit: I left a bit of it in the cup to cool and it definitley tastes much more like champagne when it is cold.

drank Boysenberry Matcha by Matcha Outlet
871 tasting notes

Tried this one cold this morning. I used about 3/4 tsp in a 8 oz water bottle and shook it up. I did add just a smidge of white sugar to sweeten up it. I find it is sweeter when drinking it hot vs cold. I think this matcha is good both hot and cold. I just can’t get over the taste, it is so good. I bought this to drink it cold every morning at work. Now something to look forward to at work :)

drank Rose Scented by Harney & Sons

The dry tea has small pink rose petals mixed throughout. Looks very romantic.

The dry tea and the tea liquor both have a strong smell of rose perfume. It is very pleasant. Reminds me of a traditional english tea room/house. And also of my grandmas house.

The steeped tea tastes very strong of rose perfume. There is a very faint sweetness to the tea, the same as you get if you use real rose petals. I find the rose flavour a little overpowering for my taste. I feel like I have very fresh rosey breath after drinking this tea.

When searching this tea I noted that many of Harney’s teas can be custom to add a rose scent. I think I would like to try this blended with an Earl Grey. I am glad I only got the sample size of this.

drank Walnut Brittle by Della Terra Teas
871 tasting notes

Thank you so much to Sandy’sCuppa for so generously sending me this in a swap.

The dry tea smells amazing, like sweet walnuts. There is green tea with peices of nuts throughout. Brewed the tea smells almost exactly like baklava. I spent 5 minutes just smelling the tea before I even tasted it. Smelled so amazing!

The liquor is dark yellow-green, looks almost cloudy.

The tea tastes creamy, buttery, nutty, delicious. I am getting some walnut flavour but mostly hazelnut. The tea is not overly sweet, which is good. Sometimes walnuts make my tongue tingle, and I am getting a little bit of this while drinking the tea, but I am more than ok with that.

Delicious tea!

Walnuts make my tongue tingle too! I was hesitant about whether or not I would ever try this tea because of that, but after reading your thoughts I’m more optimistic now that I may actually like it!

Lala

I would say the tingling was nothing near what I get when I eat a whole walnut. I think it must be an allergic reaction or something. My brother gets it too.

Bio

I am a lifetime tea lover.

I did foray into the world of coffee for a period of time, but I returned to my true love. I still, however, enjoy a good cup of java.

My all time favorite tea is Earl Grey, which I drink every morning, the stronger the bergamot the better. I definitely prefer natural oil of bergamot to artificial flavouring.

I mostly like black and dark oolong teas. My current favs are Fujian blacks, Keemun and Assams, and Wuyi oolongs. I gravitate towards anything with lychee in it. I also drink a lot of herbal blends but am wary of hibiscus. I do not favour mate, or pu’erh tea, although I have found a few blends that I like. (I so badly want to like straight pu’erh tea but it all tastes gross to me. I keep trying though). Rooibos, green and white teas fall somewhere in the middle. I find myself gravitating towards heavily roasted oolongs and teas from Paris/France based companies.

I love iced teas and cold brews.

My current tea goal is to make the perfect cup of chai from scratch – almost there…I think.

I am in love with the whole experience of tea.
