Even though Christmas is long over, it is never too late to celebrate. Brewed the tea is a golden colour, which does remind me of Christmas. This tea tastes like a Christmas tea blend. Kinda of chai-y. Tastes like spicey and sweet orange, the spice is not overpowering. There may be a cinnamon/nutmeg flavour to it, but can’t quite place the taste. The oolong taste is very subtle. This is not a strong tea, but it is also not tasteless. The flavours blend very well together. I could see this tea as an after-dinner/before bed time drink.
This ia a beautiful oolong blend.

I received a bag of this tea as a gift from a charity that I had given a donation to. What an awesome gift!

The smell of the dry tea bag and of the steeped tea is very strong mandarin. Not sweet, more spicey, more like the rind of the orange.

The tea tastes very sweet, there is a mellow orange flavour. The aftertaste is zesty and spicey, again like the oil from an the mandarin/orange rind.

This tea is good, but I will most likely not purchase for myself.

drank Earl Grey by Tazo
871 tasting notes

Currently drinking an Earl Grey latte from Starbucks. A relatives school sells gift cards as a fundraiser (the school keeps a certain percentage of money for every gift card they sell). So my mom is constantly buying me Starbucks gifts cards, which I love, but I currently have 4 of them.

Back to the latte, it is delicious. Starbucks is one of my favorites places to get an Earl Grey latte. The plain Tazo Earl Grey tea is not my favorite, but it makes a great latte. It is creamy, sweet, with a strong bergamot flavour, just heavenly. I wish there was a company that would sell a bergamot flavour syrup – if anyone knows of one, let me know – I would put it in everything.

Sandy'sCuppa

Yes, I love the idea of the bergamot syrup!! Lol!

Lala

I think I should become a purveyor of fine bergamot flavouring. I would use enough of it to keep myself in business. Ha ha!

This tea is wonderful. Bloomed beautifully. It smells like just bloomd spring flowers. It tastes like vegetal green tea, but you can also taste a slight hint of the flowers. There is only the slightest hint of sweet jasmine. The flower taste does not overpower the greean tea, but it is in good balance. The aftertaste is astringent but is not unpleasant.

I loved just sitting and watching this ball bloom. It floated, slowly release small air bubbles. As the air bubbles released and the ball started to expand and bloom, the ball sank to the bottom of the pot. The green tea leaves started to open out and the flowers slowly bloomed and reached towards the surface of the water. The flowers and green tea leaves subtly waved in the water, as if there was a slight breeze. Just like in a spring garden.
I guess this is what you would call entertainment for a tea lover.

drank Orange Blossom by DAVIDsTEA

Mmmmmmmmmm.

This tea is super delicious.

I feel like since I started on Steepster, I have been overusing the D word.

But it truly is delicious. I think I brewed it a little too strong, but it is still good. It tastes like rooibos but there is a delicate orange citrus taste to it. Not sour or tart orange, but sweet orange. It is sweet and tastes creamy. Maybe a slight hint of soft white chocolate, even though there is no ingredient in this tea to back that up.

To me, it has a very rooibos aftertaste, which is one of the things I do not like about rooibos, but I think that is in part due to brewing it too strong.

Cold brewed this one overnight. Super happy with the results. I really enjoy lemonade all year round. My absoulte favorite is lemonade mixed with iced tea. Being strawberry lemonade, it makes a greate lemonade mix.
I actually forgot about this in the fridge and I brewed it for about 18 hours, but it turned out good and strong. I had to add some white sugar for sweetener. I find that most cold brewed teas taste like juice, vs. when you brew hot then ice it. I am going to try to save this one for the summer to enjoy, but don’t know if I can wait. I might have to order more :P

drank Butterbeer by 52teas
871 tasting notes

This was the first tea I ever wanted from 52teas, now I want them all :)

I have never had butterbeer, magical or otherwise. I can definitely imagine this is what it would taste like. This tea smells and tastes like thick creamy rootbeer. I imagine a rootbeer float. The root beer flavour is not as sweet as a soda (or pop for all of us Canadians) would be. The liquid feels thick and heavy in my mouth. There is a slight, dry aftertaste.

The tea is good hot but I actually prefer it after it has cooled off and it is warm-ish.

drank Smoky Bacon by Man Teas
871 tasting notes

Mmmmmmmmm, bacon. I could not pass this tea up. I love bacon. I was a bit skeptical because bacon is so good, I didn’t think it could be replicated in a tea. Two things I love, bacon and tea together. Frank is a genius!
Upon first smelling the tea, I was thrown off. I didn’t think it smelled like bacon at all. But after I scooped some out of the package and took a deep smell, there is a hint of bacon. It is smokey, and slightly sweet.
I can strongly taste the lapsang souchon in this tea. There is a slight sweet and salty taste to the tea. I would not say that it tastes exactly like bacon, but it definitely has a hint of baconish taste.
I had company over when I brewed this tea, and it was split 50/50 for wether the tea smelled and tasted like bacon. Interestingly enough, all the males said yup thats bacon, the females didn’t think it was anywhere near bacon. (Hmmmm, man teas).
Although not blown away with this bacon tea, I am satisfied that I tried it and I have some in the cupboard as an interesting conversation starter.

drank Glitter & Gold by DAVIDsTEA
871 tasting notes

After first seeing this tea in store, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. The gold ball sprinkles took me back to childhood, making and decorating Christmas sugar cookies. I had to pick out a few and just hold them, then ate them, totally brought me back. So I know this is going to be a good tea, no matter what it tastes like.
Now to the tea, it is very good. A little sweet for my taste (sweet on its own without adding any extra sweetener). There is a bold, strong taste of vanilla, the vanilla is almost spicey, but the spice is not overpowering.
The dry loose leaf tea is visually appealing, and for me, this always makes things taste better. There is a sweet aftertaste that lingers on the back of my palate.
I would like to try blending this tea with a chai mix.

drank Super Ginger (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA
871 tasting notes

Went to the mall with my mom, and we had our usual order of sushi. Mom wanted to try tea with it, so we went to the Davids and ordered this tea to go (mom’s pick). This was the first time I had this tea. I already have a ginger I love at home but I thought this one was worth a try.
It definitely is SUPER ginger. It was very strong ginger, almost to the point where it burns your tongue, but not quite. It was very good and complemented the sushi very well. We had it plain, but I think it would have also been good with some sweetener in it. It doesn’t leave an aftertaste which is a bonus. Even though it is a strong flavoured tea, it almost helps to clear your palate after the sushi.
It got my nose to start running, so I can definitely see how it would be a good tea to have when sick or with a cold.
I did enjoy this tea but will probably not buy any for home. I think it is worth to have with the sushi lunch.

Edit note: I brought the tea bag home as Davids put lots of tea in the bag. It made an excellent re-steep. The only issue was I somehow got some soya sauce (from the sushi) on the bag, so it was a little bit salty. But it worked pretty good with the ginger tea. I might have stumbled on something here :P

Froogle_jimmy

Well all sushi tastes great with Ginger and Soy sauce so why not mix them :) however I would refrain from adding any wasabi…..unless you REALLY want a spicy KICK!!! Did the tea pair well with sushi?? or did you have it before or after?

Lala

It paired well, we drank it while we ate. I will probably have this combination again, next time I go.

Profile

Bio

I am a lifetime tea lover.

I did foray into the world of coffee for a period of time, but I returned to my true love. I still, however, enjoy a good cup of java.

My all time favorite tea is Earl Grey, which I drink every morning, the stronger the bergamot the better. I definitely prefer natural oil of bergamot to artificial flavouring.

I mostly like black and dark oolong teas. My current favs are Fujian blacks, Keemun and Assams, and Wuyi oolongs. I gravitate towards anything with lychee in it. I also drink a lot of herbal blends but am wary of hibiscus. I do not favour mate, or pu’erh tea, although I have found a few blends that I like. (I so badly want to like straight pu’erh tea but it all tastes gross to me. I keep trying though). Rooibos, green and white teas fall somewhere in the middle. I find myself gravitating towards heavily roasted oolongs and teas from Paris/France based companies.

I love iced teas and cold brews.

My current tea goal is to make the perfect cup of chai from scratch – almost there…I think.

I am in love with the whole experience of tea.
