This came in the post today, which was totally when I was excepting it. Yay! It smells like many an orange spice tea I’ve had before. There is a nice scent of orange (made stronger ’cause I just had an orange), cinnamon, and a little cloves. Mmm… spice. The flavour is a bit like an orange chai. I like this one a lot. Thanks Just Organic Teas.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Orange Zest

This has a nice, dark brew colour. (It’s like the Petite Sirah of tea.) The scent is kinda of malty caramel. There is more of a molasses flavour. I only get a hint of the grapes. Not a type of tea I’ve had before, but this is really good. Went well with my French toast.

Flavors: Caramel, Malt, Molasses

Boiling 3 min, 30 sec

I really need to have more oolong, it’s becoming one of my faves. This one is from the Steepster Select box. It has a sweet, floral scent I can’t quite place. The flavour is honey, mildly fruity, and some orchid. I rather like it.

I’ll have to try it again when I’m not having oatmeal.

Flavors: Honey, Orchids

Ooooo! I’m going to have to get this one. I just picked up their Rhubarb oolong the other day and am blending it with the strawberry oolong and cold brewing it

Tealizzy

Mmm, that sounds delicious!

Looking forward to reading that review! I’ve never blended my Butiki teas but it sounds like a great idea!

Lariel of Lórien

There is such thing as Rhubarb oolong?

Finally got around to trying this sample. And thanks to Tea Spot! :)

This blend smells really good, the chocolate scent is pretty strong. The flavour kinda reminds me of coffee. I can see why this would be a gateway tea for the coffee people. It’s probably too late in the day for this, and it’s most flavourful.

Flavors: Chocolate

Boiling 4 min, 45 sec

This was part of my Steepster Select box. It’s rainy here, so I needed some black tea. The scent reminds me of a breakfast tea blend, except a little sweeter. I enjoyed the malt, and honey flavours, but that is a little hidden under the black tea flavour.

I’d probably enjoy this on Winter mornings with oatmeal or something.

Flavors: Honey, Malt

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 15 sec

This is from my oolong sampler. My first milk oolong.

Nose (brew)- sweet, slightly floral
Colour- pale gold, hints of green
Flavour- creamy, lightly vegetal

This was very good, glad I finally was able to try it.

Flavors: Cream

I made this again with Tea Source’s Rare Orchid Oolong. Now I have a cup of milk, floral goodness.

This came in my Steepster Select box.

It smells vaguely vegetal. The flavour is mellow and sweet, and semi-fruity. Not bad, but I much prefer to cold brew my white teas.

Preparation
165 °F / 73 °C 2 min, 15 sec

It feels a little wrong to brew this with an electric kettle, but I don’t have a gaiwan (yet).

I’m really liked the scent of these Teavivre greens. This one smells mildly of jasmine, and slightly sweet. There a little bit of peach in the flavour, it’s mostly jasmine. For some reason jasmine makes me crave steamed rice dishes.

Thanks to Teavivre for sending me this sample. :)

Uh, could somebody explain what dragons have to do with pearl teas?

Stephanie

Good question!

TeaVivre

Thanks for your concern. About the name of this tea, it should not be separate dragons and pearl, they should be dragons pearl. In China, it’s called dragon pearl that something with ball shape. So we named our teas with dragons pearl that have ball shape. Hope this is useful for your concern. :)

Green tea steeping… successful! I made a cup of this while watching Castle.

This smells so good. The scent is a bit fruity, which I really like. It has a nice, mellow green and fruity flavour. Thanks to Teavivre for letting me try this sample.
If it wasn’t so late here, I’d have another cup.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 2 min, 30 sec

I love the way Castle doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are some really intense and dramatic shows, and then there’s last night with Esposito wearing an afro. :)

Thanks Steepster Select, I might not have tried this otherwise.

The scent reminds me of brown rice, or toast. It has an interesting flavour, like a mild coffee and houjicha hybrid. Which is actually pretty good.

Flavors: Bread, Roasted Barley
