Banana Cream Pie from Trail Lodge Tea
93

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea!

Unlike my SororiTea Sister, I like bananas. I wouldn’t say that I LOVE them, I am not crazy about the fruit … you know, just eating a banana, that’s not something I’ll do often. I do love to add a banana or two to my smoothies so I usually have some bananas on hand. I don’t like banana runts, although I love banana ice pops, I love banana cupcakes, and I love banana tea. And I really like Banana Cream pie, although it isn’t usually my first choice when it comes to pie. (I’d prefer lemon meringue, if you’re curious)

So, I was really excited to try this Banana Cream Pie flavored tea!

This is really yum. The scent of the dry leaf is really quite odd, I must admit, It smells very little like bananas (that is to say, I hardly smell any banana scent here at all), and the same is true for the brewed tea. Very little banana smell.

But it TASTES like bananas. Actually, after the first three or four sips, my palate was able to assemble the flavors and it tastes like Banana Coconut Cream Pie. Yes, I know the name of it is only Banana Cream Pie, but the coconut is a strong enough flavor that it should be considered part of the name of this tea.

I taste banana, and vanilla cream custard, I taste coconut and I even taste pie crust that has been lightly seasoned with allspice. The tea is there too, and it’s all constructed in a very careful balance to create a real Banana Coconut Cream Pie experience in a teacup. Very nicely done, indeed!

I can’t stand banana texture—hate the squishy slimy feel—but I can do banana flavor tea with no qualms. This sounds tasty.

I understand that … maybe that’s why I don’t like to eat a banana either (I don’t dislike it, but, its not my favorite fruit to eat on its own).

I love bananas and banana anything. Definitely adding this to my shopping list (in which I’ve hardly made even the hint of a dent this Black Friday, but whatever—new tea!). =)

I like the idea of bananas, been needing to eat more for the potassium, but have been unable to convince myself to do it. It isn’t the texture, it is the smell that often puts me off. Even fresh bananas can put me off. Yet sometimes I do like them. I love them with strawberries, whether in yogurt, ice cream or shakes. Not a huge fan of Banana Cream Pie, I’ll eat a small piece of it….but then these days most of the only sweet stuff I can stand is tea. smiles

try freezing your bananas and mixing it with a dash of cocoa/sauce… tastes just like icecream and no banana texture!

lemon meringue pie is awesome (it’s why I like good morning sunshine I swear it tastes the same)

I am obsessed with tea!

I am a co-founder of the SororiTEA Sisters:

I also review teas for the Tea Review Blog:

In addition to my passion for tea, I am also a mixed media/altered arts artist. You can see some of my art here: http://eccentricpastiche.blogspot.com

I am also a self-proclaimed foodie. I review local restaurants and the food I buy online here: http://hungryinportland.wordpress.com

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination.

*

I don’t do a whole lot of swaps anymore, however, I do occasionally sell sampler boxes here: http://liberteas.teatra.de/ I don’t always have sampler boxes available as it depends upon how much time I have as well as packaging supplies. I usually post at least one or two sampler boxes per month, though, so if you’re interested, keep an eye out or PM me and I’ll let you know when I have some posted.

Most of the teas that I record in my notes here are going to have a fairly high rating from me. This is not because I am not discerning, but because I do not usually waste my time on drinking tea I do not care for, nor will I waste my time on writing about it.
