Organic Green Tea Ginseng Mate from Mate Factor
76

This is an interesting blend. Generally I shy away from blends Ginseng and/or Echinacea, and this blend has both! But, once I get past my apprehension about the tea and actually taste it, it’s really pretty tasty.

The earthy, vegetal taste of the green yerba maté is the strongest flavor of the cup, but I can also taste the sweet notes of the Sencha. The Ginseng and Echinachea are (thankfully) do not lend a strong presence in the flavor of the tea. My initial reaction to the first sip was “medicine-y” but, as I continue to sip, I don’t really get “medicine-y” … a herbal-y flavor, yes, but not off-putting or medicine-like.

Java Santosa from McNulty's
86

Thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this!

Rich & Robust! The flavor is bright and strong.

Excellent!

Apricot Escape from Art of Tea
74

Thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this to try!

Delish! I love the blending of the apricot and the pear – the flavor is very authentic, so authentic that I can almost taste the pulp. It’s very nectar-like.

I do wish this blend didn’t have the hibiscus, but, it is still quite acceptable with it. Yummy!

Glendale Estate White Tea from Octavia Tea
83

Very refreshing and unique!

This tastes a bit more like an Oolong than a white tea, and even has a soft mouthfeel that is similar to a dark oxidized Oolong. Notes of raw wood, spice, fruit and honey greet the palate, and a slight acidic taste lingers in the finish. It’s really very interesting and quite delicious!

Milk Oolong from thepuriTea
96

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending this tea my way! I am always happy to try an Oolong!

I have tasted a lot of Oolong teas, but very few Milk Oolong teas.

Heavenly! Soft, fluffy cloud-like! It has a thick, creamy texture like whole milk, and such a delicious flavor that is sweet, nutty and vegetative. This is quite possibly the most perfect Milk Oolong I’ve ever tasted. Fantastic!!!

Gold Flake from East Pacific Tea Co.
93

Amazing! I do love a good Yunnan – and this certainly fits the bill… to a TEA!

Pleasantly starchy with a sweet potato taste, hints of spice and earth and wood come and go throughout the sip. It finishes with a somewhat dry astringency.

A very fine Yunnan indeed!

ETA: I need to add a huge THANK YOU to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea! I really loved this – thank you so much!!!

Holiday Fruit & Spice Blend from Mark T. Wendell
83

Delicious! The cranberry and orange taste vibrant and juicy. The spices are very mild and are more of an accent to the flavor rather than a strong presence in the cup.

The black tea is fairly mellow with a bit of astringency – slightly drying. Pleasantly sweet without any additions but I prefer it with a little bit of honey. Nice and autumn-ish!

Pink Sonoma from Element Tea
89

This is really REALLY good. I love the floral touches in the flavor of this tea – it really enhances the wine taste.

The flavor is very light, but extraordinarily pleasant. One of my favorite wine-infused teas.

Marco Polo from Mariage Frères
83

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea – it’s one that I’ve wanted to try for a while now!

The floral notes of this tea are very pleasant – sharp yet sweet, and an excellent contrast with the brisk flavor of the black tea and the sumptuous flavor of the fruit.

Delicious! I’m really glad I got to try this!

Earl Grey Tea-Infused Chocolate Truffles from Arbor Teas
100

OK, I’m glad I saved this one for last. I love the way the bergamot comes through the rich chocolate flavor. This is SO GOOD.

The citrus-y bergamot flavor is perfectly paired with the sweet chocolate flavor. It is sweet and creamy and decadent.

I so enjoyed this collection of truffles! They are absolutely awesome!

Wuyi Rock from Shanti Tea
85

A really lovely Oolong – rich and nutty in flavor, with underlying tones of fruit and spice. It has a smooth taste.

Thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this to try!

Earl Grey Citrus from The Boston Tea Company
81

I have to leave in a few minutes… please check my previous tasting note for my thoughts on this tea. It’s a nice twist on the classic Earl Grey.

Organic Dark Roast Yerba Mate Loose from Mate Factor
84

Ugh… Monday already.

I have an appointment this morning, so I can’t go back to bed and take a nap. So, it’s Mate to the rescue!

This morning, I added a bit of cinnamon to the finished product… I like it a lot like that. Tasty! Rich and robust and I can already feel it starting to work it’s magic. Yay!

Crimson Nectar from Tea Forte
65

I have to agree with most of the other tasting notes about this tea – it has too much hibiscus.

However, if you let it cool (or have it iced) the hibiscus is not as troublesome.

This is one though that requires a healthy dose of honey to curb some of that tart hibiscus taste. I will say though that the honey brings out the apple and citrus notes a bit.

Skin from Byron Bay Tea Company
82

My immediate reaction to just about any herbal blend is a slight cringe. I have quite enjoyed a lot of herbal teas, but, it just seems that when it comes right down to it, they worry me a bit, because not all herbal teas “work.”

This one DOES! Even though I was a little scared of this one, it is actually quite nice. The peppermint is strong but doesn’t overpower the other ingredients. I love the combination of lemongrass and ginger in this – the lemongrass smooths out some of the stronger ginger-y notes, and makes this a very palatable blend.

This doesn’t come off as medicine-y tasting to me. The rose in this is a nice touch and gives it a pleasant floral sweetness.

Very nice!

Berry Rooibos from Samovar
76

This is really quite good. I was a little worried when I read the description of this tea because I’m not particularly fond of tart… but, this is “tart in a good way.” And what I mean by that is that it is not really pucker-y or sour, but more of a sweet-tart kind of tart… but without that candy taste.

The berry flavor is really pronounced here, and it overpowers the flavor of the rooibos, which is quite alright with me.

I found this to be rather enjoyable. A nice tea to sip in the evening.

Jasmine Tea-Infused Chocolate Truffle from Arbor Teas
97

Appearance wise, this one is the prettiest in the collection of truffles… It is so pretty in fact I almost couldn’t bear to bite into it… ALMOST!

The grapefruit zest lends a wonderful citrus note to this delicious truffle, and it enhances the jasmine tea notes just enough so that they can be tasted above the strong flavor of the dark chocolate ganache.

I think that this one is my favorite truffle of the five that I’ve tried so far. (hahaha – I’ve probably said that with each one of these!)

Jade Oolong from Drink T
88

This is a lovely Oolong – light and refreshing for this time of the evening. These tightly wound pellets haven’t even STARTED to unfurl after a reawakening rinse and 2 infusions! Lots more infusions to follow!

Dawn from The Simple Leaf
97

I love – love – love this tea.

Smooth, rich, malty, bake-y taste with chocolate. YUM

Matcha from Zhi Tea
88

Delicious!

A deep, rich flavor. Strong vegetative quality to it, sweet with a bite of bitterness. Not chalky – just smooth and creamy.

Green Yerba Mate from EnjoyingTea.com
80

Starting my day with this… actually, I’ve been up for a couple of hours, but, haven’t taken the time for a cup of tea yet.

I wrote a full-length review of this tea, you can find it here:

Earl of Africa from Kalahari Tea
69

Thank you to Jaime for sending some of this my way! I really appreciate it!

I use 2 bags to brew a cup of this, because I think that 1 bag is just a little too weak… I can taste rooibos with the 1 bag, but I was left wanting more bergamot flavor… with the 2 bags it is just right.

And very good! The rooibos is somewhat woody and nutty but not icky sweet. The bergamot is a bit softer than in most of the Earl Grey teas that I enjoy, but, I like how the citrus and rooibos come together here. It’s very nice and comforting and relaxing.

Zealong Aromatic from Chicago Tea Garden
89

I really like this. Sweet, floral and delicious!

Off to write a full-length review of it for Tea Review Blog!

Autumn Melody from Sanctuary T
94

I really like this blend a lot, so I just had to enjoy another cup of it before I send the rest off to my SororiTea Sister.

This is so delicious – I love the spicy tone of this. A very well-balanced blend of spices.

Yummy yum yum yum!

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination.

*

I don’t do a whole lot of swaps anymore, however, I do occasionally sell sampler boxes here: http://liberteas.teatra.de/ I don’t always have sampler boxes available as it depends upon how much time I have as well as packaging supplies. I usually post at least one or two sampler boxes per month, though, so if you’re interested, keep an eye out or PM me and I’ll let you know when I have some posted.

*

Most of the teas that I record in my notes here are going to have a fairly high rating from me. This is not because I am not discerning, but because I do not usually waste my time on drinking tea I do not care for, nor will I waste my time on writing about it.
