4843 Tasting Notes

Thank you Azzrian for sending me some of this blend. I really enjoyed this. I don’t know that what I’m tasted was necessarily “Tea and Cookies” but, I liked the flavors of spice in this blend. A nice black tea base to this, a lot of delicious, warm spices … and what it evokes for me is the thought of holiday time when there’s a lot of baking happening in the kitchen … the smells and the tastes from the kitchen during that time of year. The idea of tea and cookies is not too far fetched here, it just doesn’t taste specifically of tea and cookies … it just sort of evokes those memories.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea to try. I love Maple, and this is an AWESOME Maple tea. I’m used to maple black teas, and this might be the first one I’ve tried with a white tea base. I think that the white tea base is a brilliant base to use because it really allows the maple notes to come out fully … whereas a black tea base tends to obscure some of the more subtle tones of the maple. This is a great way to fully enjoy one’s love of maple … and I love me some maple!

I was actually a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this given that there is hibiscus in it … I’m not a fan of the hibiscus. But, it’s done lightly enough so that it doesn’t overpower the cup, and actually it accentuates the elderberries in a really favorable way.
Not bad, everything is nicely balanced. This tisane has a lot going “against” it for me … given that it’s not only a rooibos blend but also a hibiscus blend … but I still quite enjoyed it given all these components … I expected I’d hate it. But I didn’t. So, Kudos to Whispering Pines! Well Done!

I love this! This may be my favorite Genmaicha blend that I’ve had from 52teas thus far. I love the way the natural toasty flavors of the genmaicha meld with the marshmallow notes to give it a roasted marshmellow taste. The hint of Lapsang Souchong really ties it all together very well.
I wouldn’t have complained if there was more chocolate flavor. Then again, I say something like that with just about every chocolate tea I try, right? More chocolate = better. Always. :)
The best part of this tea is definitely the marshmallow, though. I just love how this all comes together. A really, really good Genmaicha blend from 52Teas!
Backlog:
A flavorful Darjeeling – a nice muscatel note. Sweet, fruity, nutty, and earthy. A very enjoyable cuppa! I even noticed hints of malt that made me question if I was tasting a Darjeeling! This definitely seems like a stronger, more robust Darjeeling … not the sparkling, crisp lighter Darjeeling that I’ve come to expect when I drink a Darjeeling.
But don’t mistake that for me not enjoying this because I really enjoyed it – especially because it was really different. A very nice tea.

A very refreshing mint tisane. Minty, crisp, minty, flavorful … minty. Did I mention it was minty?

I enjoyed this quite a bit. You know me, I do love my Earl Grey … and I liked this combination of rose, lavender and bergamot with the black tea. The floral tones soften the overall cup … it’s sweet but not too sweet nor does it become perfume-ish.
The black tea is mellow, doesn’t bring a whole lot to the cup, but it is smooth and adds a nice background of flavor. It’s not an overly aggressive black tea, but with the other flavors, I don’t know that an stronger black tea would have worked as well as the tea here did.
The bergamot is flavorful but a little lighter than I like it to be. But overall, I really enjoyed this cuppa.
Backlog:
I wasn’t all that thrilled to try a Hibiscus tisane, to be honest with you. Then again, hibiscus rarely thrills or excites me. I can’t really think of a time when I got excited over hibiscus being in a tea or tisane.
But the mint seemed promising. Maybe.
