drank Peach Matcha by Naked Teas Galore

Backlog:

I was happily surprised to find Matcha in the April Amoda box (yeah, I know I’m behind on my tea logs!) I wish that this Matcha was a little less sweet. It wasn’t too much, but, I prefer to decide if I want to sweeten a tea and not have that decision made for me. You know?

The flavor reminds me of peach jolly ranchers. Sweet, peachy, but almost an artificial peachy taste. Not my favorite flavored Matcha, but still a good one, and glad that Amoda put Matcha in the box!

I was a little surprised by the dry leaf aroma of this one … it’s earthy, similar to a Pu-erh, rather than the usual “floral” or vegetative or even “fruit-like” quality that I have come to expect from an Oolong … then again, this IS an aged Oolong.

I enjoyed it. It does have an earthy quality to it, but, I like that even though it is earthy, I wasn’t put off by the earthy tones. It’s really quite lovely. It has an almost “coffee-like” taste … rich but without the bitterness I would usually associate with coffee … this is sweet … almost like molasses.

A very good cuppa – and the leaves stand up for many … I’m talking MANY infusions. I got eight infusions … and it probably could have gone for at least a couple more.

Thank you Azzrian for sending some of this my way!

A really good Genmaicha. A good, warm, nutty and roasty flavor from the toasted rice, and the green tea has a freshness to it. The Matcha gives the cup a little bit of creaminess that I enjoyed.

Pleasant, sweet, and comforting. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/16/genmaicha-extra-green-with-matcha-tea-from-culinary-teas/

I finished off what I had left of this tea … and this is one I’ll miss. Maybe not too much because I have so much tea that it’s difficult for me to say I’ll miss any tea, really … but I really enjoyed this. It was definitely one of 52Teas better blends! Really, really good.

drank Ginger Snap by Della Terra Teas

I love Gingersnaps! This is one of the more “unusual” gingersnap experiences I’ve ever had though! Good … but unusual! The natural nutty flavor of the rooibos worked beautifully here, normally I’m not big on rooibos, but, here it works. I thought that the fruit notes in this were a little weird, but they worked as well.

I can’t say that this is what I expected when I opened the pouch to brew up some “gingersnap” tea … but, I still really enjoyed it.

I am really glad that I had the opportunity to try this tea as it is now sold out. This is one of the finest Dragon Well teas I’ve ever tried. No big surprise there, since Verdant Tea always seems to deliver some of the finest teas available! I can’t think of a time when they’ve ever disappointed me!

Sweet, creamy, nutty … delicious! I was surprised at how well I was able to distinguish the cashews in this tea. It really has a distinct cashew flavor. Slight grassy tones with hints of lima bean. A faint mineral taste as well. The creaminess took me by surprise as well, because I don’t ordinarily associate “creaminess” as a Dragon Well quality.

A really fine tea. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/15/mrs-lis-shi-feng-dragonwell-green-tea-from-verdant-tea/

Hi Liberteas- thank you for your wonderful review!

We were able to bring in Mrs. Li’s 2013 Spring Harvest of Shi Feng Dragonwell, and we still have some available. I hope you get the chance to try it again sometime soon. :)

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea!

I love Jasmine Oolong teas … and having tried a few of Zi Chun’s teas … I knew that this one would be top-notch. The teas from Zi Chun Tea Co are among some of the very best I’ve ever tasted.

This has a lovely Jasmine flavor – sweet and exotic! It is creamy from the Oolong, but the sharp notes of the jasmine offset the creaminess just enough to create a soft, smooth texture without being too overwhelmingly “heavy.”

A really good Jasmine Oolong, here is my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/15/premium-jasmine-oolong-tea-from-zi-chun-tea-co/

Thank you Azzrian for sending me some of this tea!

This is really interesting … I’m very unfamiliar with the lulo fruit. I described the appearance of this fruit in my full-length review as a fruit that looks a bit like an orange that had a funky twisted romance with a kiwi fruit. You can read my full-length review here (and see the photo of the lulo fruit): http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/14/blue-shadow-flavored-black-tea-from-the-tea-smith/

A very interesting tea. I taste strawberry, black tea, and berry notes. I also taste notes of citrus. Quite a unique tea, I liked it.

This is one of the better Tropical teas I’ve tasted, and I’ve had quite a few. I really like the Oolong base with this one! Very interesting … very unique!

The pineapple is a sweet, juicy taste and melds beautifully with the Oolong base, the orange really brightens the cup, and the coconut marries nicely with the creamy notes of the Oolong. I really like this!

drank The Earl's Garden by DAVIDsTEA

Backlog:

I was excited to try this variation of Earl Grey (as I am to try any variation of Earl Grey! I love me some Bergamot!) This is truly a unique combination … bergamot with strawberry and black currant! Yummy!

The black tea is fairly mild with this tea, which in most cases, I prefer it to be a little more aggressive in taste but, with so much going on here – bergamot, strawberry, black currant – I really wanted to taste each of these notes too, so I didn’t mind the softer approach by the black tea.

The flavoring is interesting, there is almost a ‘wine-like’ quality to it, and I found this to be very intriguing. A really nice Earl Grey twist!

I liked this one too!

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
