drank Lemonade by jar of tea

This is pretty good. This company is one that I’ve ordered from in the past, before it called itself “jar of tea” – it used to be called AuraZen on Etsy.

I just finished submitting a review for this tea on the Tea Review Blog.

It is light and refreshing, with a beautiful lemony taste. Sweet, but not too sweet. Nice.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea!

This is a very lovely black tea. There are notes of smoke (but I like it!) and an earthy quality. Neither of these two attributes are off-putting to me though. It has a very deep, almost Assam-like quality to this tea – malty and somewhat chewy. Very nice!

drank English Tea No. 1 by Ahmad Tea

My first cup of the day – this is really a good tea, which is especially surprising to me since it’s a bagged tea. I like it a lot.

It is bold and the bergamot is light. Smooth and delicious.

Try their Darjeeling. Equally good.

drank Winter Mint by Octavia Tea

This is really yummy. The mint does not overpower the other ingredients, there is a nice balance of chocolate, peppermint and vanilla. Nicely sweet. A really good dessert tea or just for a late-night “snack” that won’t take up residence on the hips.

It has an invigorating taste but is also quite soothing. A very nice rooibos blend that reminds me a bit of a blend that I created years ago – mint chocolate chip!

drank Mountain Berry by SpecialTEA Brew

The dry leaf of this tea is really beautiful. So colorful! Lovely! The aroma is berry-like… but I have to admit that I’m a little worried about the hibiscus… I have my fingers crossed that it won’t be too overwhelming…

Wow… this is TART. I tried brewing it for a shorter than usual brew time (normally I brew fruit blends like this for 8 minutes, but I steeped it for just 5), but I still got that sort of thick hibiscus-y syrup when I started to strain the tea. After some sweetener and some ice cubes, I find that it is much better – this tea should be iced. It is still on the tart side, but it’s much better this way.

Fortunately the hibiscus is not the only taste in this cup, I can taste the berries… in fact, it tastes like a tart berry… and it is tasty. Not something I would drink on a regular basis though… I think it would be better blended with honeybush, or maybe green or white tea like it was suggested on TeaEqualsBliss’s tasting note of this tea.

“…that sort of thick hibiscus-y syrup…”

I realize I’m strange, but that phrase right there makes me want to try this tea. I love that in hibiscus blends.

LauraR

Have you ever tried Hibisca?

Jaime

No…what is it?

Meghann M

The line about the Hibiscus-y syrup caught my attention too. Will definitely have to look for this tea.

Meghann M

Jaime-I googled Hibisca and it looks like it is a drink mixer, here’s the website: http://www.tryhibisca.com/recipes/

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons

I ordered this sample months ago but have put off trying it because the “decaf” part scared me. I have had a lot of really good decaf teas lately, so I don’t know why I continue to fear the decaf, but, I do. It’s a deeply seeded fear that needs to be uprooted, but I haven’t been successful with that yet.

The aroma is lovely – it has a maple-y vanilla-y sweet scent. Delicious. And I can SEE the vanilla beans!

Wow, this is really good. REALLY good. Smooth and sweet and so very YUM.

Are you sure this is decaf?

@amandajo that’s it exactly! Herbals and other naturally caffeine free teas are ok, but, I have had some really nasty decaf teas in the past that when I see “decaffeinated” – I cringe.

amandajo

lol, I know, me too! Cringe is exactly the right word, it’s a physical reaction!

amandajo

I too fear the word decaf! Now I have no problem with herbal teas, red teas, etc. But I think there are so many bad decaffeinated teas out there that it’s guilt by association!

Jaime

I’m looking for this the next time I go to Jungle Jim’s (the only place near me that I know carries this brand). I’m always on the hunt for good decafs!

LauraR

I wish I could find this one the shelves somewhere.

Jaime

If I find it, I’d be happy to pick up a tin for you. I probably won’t be able to go until next month; every weekend in October is now booked for me.

teabird

I’ve been planning to make an order from Harney pretty much just to get a tin of this – it seems to be the best decaf tea out there. (Though, I’m happy to be corrected if someone has a better suggestion!)

Stephanie

Yay! I’m glad you liked it! The flavor totally makes up for the decaf-ness.

amandajo

Of course other decaffeinated items have proliferated the “nasty” connotation as well, sodas and coffee come to mind. Was this tea available in a particular store or did you order it online? It is tempting me. :)

I’ve only enough of this tea for another cup – actually closer to a half a cup! It is really good… one of the best Mango flavored green teas I’ve yet to taste. It has a very beautiful fragrance – a very STRONG aroma! Lovely.

The flavor is very much like a fresh, ripe mango. Sweet with no tartness to it at all. The green tea falls somewhere between “grassy” and “vegetable” in taste, and it melds very well with the mango taste.

YUMMY!

drank Honey-Kissed Green by Element Tea

This is just the ticket for this evening – I wanted something lightly sweet with a hint of spiciness, but just a hint… I wasn’t looking for an in your face kind of taste, and this tea delivered that.

The ginger is gentle, and the honey is sweet but not overly so. The green tea has a soft quality to it, it is light and fresh tasting with a very light mouthfeel and very little grassy/vegetative quality to it.

A very good tea!

drank Jasmine by TeaSpree

The aroma is so delicate but it is very alluring… this tea smells a lot softer than many Jasmine teas, but the scent is so beautiful!

The flavor is fantastic. The jasmine note is so light and refreshing, and the green tea tastes very fresh with very little vegetative note. It just tastes sweet and light and luxurious! I love it!

I love this Oolong and I’m sad that I’ve only enough of it for one more gaiwan of it. It has such a lovely fruit/flower/earthy/musk flavor to it that I don’t think I’ve ever really experienced in an Oolong before. It’s very nice!

I have increased the numeric rating on this because … well… I can!

I am obsessed with tea!

I am a co-founder of the SororiTEA Sisters:

I no longer write for the SororiTea Sisters but I am still the admin for the blog.

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
