drank Earl Grey by Lupicia

Yum! Starting my day with my favorite Earl Grey!

Now that I’m moving away from being a tea vendor into tea customer status, I find myself drinking less and less breakfast blend teas. I think I really prefer to start my day with Earl Grey – it just has a way with it that is so comforting but at the same time invigorating.

And this one is my favorite! I love the blend of bold Keemun and bergamot. A splendid way to start my weekend!

drank Bamboo Shoots by TeaFrog

This is one of the teas that I selected in the sampler that was featured in the Steepster Select back in May.

I can taste the genmaicha right away. Since genmaicha is one of my favorite green varieties, that’s a good thing! It’s quite fruity, but there is a little bit of warmth to it too. I’m really liking this one a lot!

This is one that I’m definitely considering placing an order for a full-sized package!

You had me until I saw genmaicha. The name of the tea is so awesome that I might just have to cave!

Rabs

If this were called “Bamboo Shoots…Bamboo Scores!” then I’d totally cave ;)

TeaFrog

@Rabs – you are onto something there… and that fits so well with the fact that we are CANADIAN! ;) (naturally I went to hockey with that :)) There may well be a name change in the near future for this one!

Rabs

Tea-hee! That’d be awesome :D

drank Casablanca by Chado

Hmm… interesting! I bought this sample because the combination of mint and bergamot intrigued me and I had to try it. I wasn’t sure how I would like it (I’m not always crazy about green Earl Grey teas)… but I figured it was worth trying.

I like the way the flavors of the mint and bergamot complement each other. It has a very zesty flavor from the mint and a pleasant citrus-y flavor from the bergamot. I’m really liking this a lot more than I thought I would!

I’ve only taken a few sips so far, so I’m not yet getting much from the green tea, I can taste it, but, the other flavors are quite strong so it has a hard time expressing itself.

I’m really liking it though.

Sounds like something id drink. You have a lot of it?

LiberTEAS

No, I just purchased a sample of it, but Chado does sell samples.

JonTea

Tempting… :P

LiberTEAS

I got several samples from them, and I got my package pretty quickly. I’m very happy with the transaction. :)

drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas
4843 tasting notes

This one came with my order today too! It was hard to decide which to try first, the Dreamsicle or the Strawberry, but my love for Darjeeling won out.

OK… so I’ve never had zabaglione… but I have had custard… and this has a very creamy, custard-ish flavor to it. The strawberry flavor is softer in the beginning, but at the end of the sip you can really taste it.

YUM! It is very good.

Frank… if you’re reading this (and I know that you are… yep… I can see you) next week make something that I will not be interested in. Please. I should not be buying any more tea for at least a couple of weeks. So make a pu-erh or a Lapsang Souchong blend. OK? Or even a Salvadorian Dung Beetle flavored tea. Something that I’ll have no interest in purchasing. OK? Thanks.

This tea is awesome!

Hehehehe. Sorry, no dung beetle tea. I’m afraid it is going to be another delicious blend. Don’t tell anyone, but it will be a fruit cocktail green tea with real pear, peaches and pineapple with natural pear, peach, orange, pineapple and maraschino cherry flavors. I just got finished blending it. It smells AMAZING.

Southern Boy Teas

Oops. Did I spoil the surprise?

AmazonV

only for those who read the comments :)

LiberTEAS

(expletive) why Frank? Why? Why must you do this to my wallet?

Southern Boy Teas

It’s just part of the five year plan—world tea domination one tea drinker at a time…

Southern Boy Teas

I hadn’t seen that, but thank you VERY much! I was pretty happy with the Pineapple Upside-down Cake too.

oooooo i wondered about this one!! :P

drank Dreamsicle Darjeeling by 52teas
4843 tasting notes

Yay! My order arrived today! 52Teas has the fastest FREE shipping ever! Woot!

OK when I first heard about this tea (Thanks Stephanie for alerting me to it!) I knew I had to try it. I LOVE Darjeeling… and there really aren’t a lot of flavored Darjeelings out there (yeah – they don’t really NEED flavoring because they’re so complex and flavorful without the flavoring, but, I’m always interested in trying something a little bit out of the ordinary … in case you haven’t noticed from my tasting note archives).

Mmm… creamy… mmm… sweet and orange-y … mmm… Darjeeling! This is really good!

It tastes like someone dropped a Dreamsicle into my cup of Darjeeling! YUM!

Shugi

Sorry to ask, but being not a native English speaker … what is a dreamsicle? Orange ice cream?

LiberTEAS

a dreamsicle is a popsicle brand frozen treat on a stick – orange sherbet on the outside, vanilla ice cream on the inside. :)

Shugi

Thanks :) Never seen that combination here in Central Europe, have to look out for it, sounds nice :)

Currently enjoying a cup of my custom blend!

YUM!

I love the rootbeer-ish, cocoa-ish, peppery-ish, floral-ish flavor of this cup. It is so “out there” and so ME. Very different, unusual, odd, but flavorful and delish! I love it.

I love Earl Grey in the morning – it really invigorates! The aroma, the flavor – it really gets me going!

I really like this blend a lot. The lavender is nice. Smooth and very delicious.

By the way – we (the SororiTEA Sisters) will be giving away a tin of this next week! Details coming soon!

i have to ask, sorry if it comes out rude: every blogger (tea and not) seems to get this tea to give away from GM – I wonder why this one? is it their best know? most liked? cheapest?

LiberTEAS

It didn’t come out rude :)

I don’t know why that is, but coming from the perspective of a tea vendor, I would think that it’s probably because Earl Grey is a classic flavor that just about any tea lover can identify and most tea lovers will appreciate? I really don’t know their motives, so I’m just speculating … and I’m just very happy that they’re offering to sponsor a giveaway on our blog! :)

AmazonV

it is very nice of them :) i am glad i got the sampler because they have so many yummy teas, I wonder if it’s for SEO reasons…hmmm

and you like it so it must be a pretty good pick anyway!

I didn’t steep this for the full 8 minutes as suggested by Upton because it’s been my experience with teas containing hibiscus that they become way too thick and syrupy (not to mention TART) when left to brew that long.

I really like the way this tisane smells. Strong with cinnamon but I can also smell the fruity notes from the plum too.

This is not a terrible tisane – The cinnamon is the strongest element in the blend, but there is a nice enough fruity flavor to it too. The hibiscus is a bit tart, and I think I’d have liked it better if there was less hibiscus in this blend, but it isn’t too sour, just a little bit more tart than I would like. A little agave nectar helps to curb that – but it would be nice not to have to add it for that purpose.

Not the worst tasting tisane I’ve ever tried, but certainly not the best either. I’m glad I tried the sample of this, but it’s not one of which I’ll purchase a full-sized package.

Boiling 6 min, 0 sec
LiberTEAS

I will say that the more I drink of this the more I’m developing a liking for it – but that is mainly because the cinnamon has really taken center stage – the hibiscus flavor is not so much present anymore, but neither is the plum flavor. It has become all about the cinnamon now. Not bad, but not what I expected from a tea that calls itself cinnamon PLUM fruit tea.

TeaEqualsBliss

This sounds interesting…

drank Safari Chai by jar of tea

Smells very cinnamon-y, kind of like red hots but with a citrus twist.

This is a very pleasant tasting rooibos chai blend. The orange peel gives it a juicy, refreshing flavor, and it has a sweet flavor to it – sort of spicy sweet, which I really like.

This one sounded so good that I just bought a sample of it. sigh Thanks, I guess!

drank Caramel by Kusmi Tea
4843 tasting notes

Another sampling from TeaEqualsBliss – thank you!

This is one that I’ve been most interested to try. I’ve read a few very positive reviews on Steepster for it and it peaked my curiosity.

The aroma is delicious – I do love caramel! A sweet, browned sugar scent.

The tea base is strong and I’m getting a little bitterness from it, but not so much that it’s unpleasant. Not as sweet tasting as the aroma lead me to believe but it is tasty (although, I must admit that I do prefer my own caramel blend)

I am obsessed with tea!

I am a co-founder of the SororiTEA Sisters:

I no longer write for the SororiTea Sisters but I am still the admin for the blog.

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

http://52teas.com

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

*

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
