Banana Oolong (organic) from DAVIDsTEA
63

So this is my very first Oolong tea. I brewed it in a glass tea infuser and I loved how the leaves unfurled. The scent of this is lovely, but I could also smell some bitterness.

My overall impression of this is that I’m not sure I ‘like’ oolong tea, but I do enjoy taking a deep whiff every time I bring my cup up to take a sip. The aftertaste is very bitter to me, but not as bitter as green tea. Even with the bitterness I found this to be very smooth to drink. Perhaps a I should add a bit of sweetener? Does anyone put milk in oolong?

I also see that people brew the same batch of leaves a few times. I have never done this. Can I brew the same leaves again tomorrow? Or does it have to be within a certain time frame (no moldy leaves please!)??

I usually reuse the leaves right away, but I’ve heard of others doing the next day resteep.

My first tea encounter was from my Polish grandmother; she used to make me chamommile tea when I wasn’t feeling well. She also used to rinse her hair with chamommile infused water. To this day it is still the most comforting tea for me.

I am just starting to get into loose leaf teas. I’m not a fan of green or matcha or anything like that. I like robust blacks, tasty herbals and flavoured rooibos teas. I also appreciate a good tea latte.
