I recived this as a sample, and it seems Mandala knows my tastes, this came out very smooth, with just a touch of bitterness at the end, and now I need to order a full cake. With most puers Iv come to expect a very strong and almost musty taste but these are so smooth and unlike any I have had before its once again clear that alot of thought and care went into this product.

also as I drank it, a bit of fruitiness came through that was a very nice suprise.

So happy you dig this. I am starting to get into a hoarding mindset with this one as the number of cakes begins to dwindle. So excited about this tea. Both Jamie and I are eyeing up the stash of these and deciding how much we are going to buy for our personal collection. And you are definitely right with the fruitiness that comes through, I get that as well. I also like the floral notes present even in the dried leaf.

Try this: heat up the pot with hot water. Once the pot is heated up, dump that water out and then put the dried leaf in and cover. let it sit for a few seconds. As the heat transfers into the pot, it opens up the aroma of the dried leaf. If you haven’t done this before, give it a try. I do it with every tea now.

Enjoy, my friend!!

Not a huge fan of jasmine teas I find the flavoring so strong that you miss out on the tea, but the visual effect of this tea is quite nice.

Unwitingly my first puer, i didnt know quite what I had purchased, by itself it is a bit too earthy, works wonders on a hangover, and is a must in most home blends if your going for a dark brekfast tea.

This was the very first loose tea I expermented with. Tried it once that same day I purchased 16 oz, a tea tin, and my beloved faded green cast iron tea cup which I use exclusivly for gykoro and sencha. This is still one of the best teas around and a staple in my tea collection.

I am lucky enough to live close to an asian super market and shop there consatanty so running into this was inevitable. This is the first loose black tea I tasted that was almost 7 years ago and I still love this stuff especialy on a cold day.

within 20 minutes of its delivery this tea was in my pot, it is semi sweet with very melow earthy undertones not pungient like many puers, the leaf grade is outstanding its clear that much thought went into the production and due to the nature of the trees it was harvested from no cup will be the same.

Wow!! Thanks for that, my friend!! I’m doing my darndest up here in MN to keep growing and being even better :) You’ll be happy to know that there are some great pressings in the works right now. One of the new pressings is the autumn 2013 version of the very cake you were reviewing! So glad that I was able to secure a bunch more of their mao cha for this! It should be pressed in the next couple of weeks. Granted, it’ll be a couple of months before all the cakes make their way to our tea vault here in the US, but get here, they will! I’m excited about the new pressings!! Thanks so much for writing up your thoughts on this tea MagicDon!! Grateful, Garret
