429 Tasting Notes
I smell cocoa. I’m brewing this tea and it actually smells like cocoa. If I put my nose a little closer to the cup, I also get hazelnut. My first taste was of cocoa, hazelnuts and black tea. I’m drinking it w/o milk or sugar. Right now I’m thinking how happy I am for buying a whole tin of this instead of a sample. This tea just tastes wonderful. The reviews on this tea convinced me to try it. I’m very glad that I did.
Preparation
This is one of the teas I found on my tea hunting expedition yesterday. I found this at Big Lots for $2 which relates to .04 a cup. This is an ok breakfast blend. It brews up amber in the cup and has a slight sweetness on the tip of the tongue. I’m drinking it w/o milk or sugar. It is all Ceylon tea and has an astringent quality to the tea. It is packed 50 to a tin w/o strings. I like their black organic blend much better.
I just had a second cup of this tea steeping only 4 min. and the tea tasted less astringent and made a much better cup for breakfast.
Preparation
This tea really surprised me. It brews up very amber in color and is very brisk and robust. The tea is not as strong as PG Tips and I was able to drink it w/o milk or sugar. It has a very clean taste for a Kenyan tea, no bitterness at all. The tea comes in hemp tea bags w/o strings and isn’t even flo-thru. I found this tea at a Christmas Tree Shop in Maine and it was very inexpensive. The date on the tea was 2012, so I bought it. A very nice breakfast tea.
Preparation
This tea just smells great when you open the tin. I can smell vanilla and berries. When brewing this tea I get the smell of a bowl of berries with vanilla on them. It tastes just as it smells, wonderful. This is not a strong tea. Its very mild with all kinds of flavors. I thought I tasted plum on my first taste, then it settled down to berries as it cooled. I like this tea. Without all the tasting notes on Steepster I may have missed this tea. THANKS!
Preparation
I’m having this tea again this morning. My wife and I are getting ready to go to the mall on a tea hunt. This is a very mild tea and I’m going to look for some more robust ones. I think I prefer this tea with Lapsang Souchond added. Its still a nice cup of tea.
Preparation
Having my last cup, I’ll miss this tea. I am experimenting with blending tea trying to recreate this tea as close as I can.
Ah, lucky you. I thought of buying some Andrews & Dunham, but I like and hate the fact that it comes in a set (or series) at the same time!
Looks like I’m on a English Breakfast kick this week. This one is very mild and smooth and I like it a lot. It doesn’t have the harshness many EB’s have because of the cheap teas that they use. The tea has a very balanced taste with no smokiness that I can taste. Its reddish brown in color and has a very slight fruitiness. I wish I could tell which one but my espresso drinking in my youth have probably killed some of my taste buds. Overall I like the taste and will buy it again.
Preparation
I’m a little lazy this afternoon so I’m drinking bagged tea. This is an ok tea by Darjeeling standards but nothing to write home about. The tea seemed a little bitter for some reason. Might be that I forgot to set my timer and had to guess. (oops) So, the water was boiling and the steep time was anybodies guess. This was my last bag and I don’t think I will restock, there are many other bagged teas I like much better.
Preparation
I bought this to mix with Keemun, but it is excellent all by itself. Its very smoky but not overpowering like the twinings tea bags. I added 1/4 tsp of splenda and its a very comforting tea on a very cold day here in Maine. I love smoky tea and would not recommend this tea to anyway who is not so inclined.
Preparation
This is one of those teas that I’m not sure if I want to try or not… I tend to like smoky teas, but never had Lapsang Souchong, and lots of my friends kinda scared me on the extreme smokiness of this tea. One of these days I’ll get a chance, I guess.
This is the one tea I’ve been craving time after time. It doesn’t help that I have a picture of Florence hanging in my room. I’m tempted to just throw in a Harney order to pick up a tin of this.
Teaplz look what you did! You introduced me to so many companies =P Which one’s next?
I’m still trying to figure out who to blame my tea cravings on.
