The weather calls for strong teas this morning. This is a very good assam tea with the malty taste, no bitterness and light astringency. While this tea is from the same area as Mountain Malt, it is not in the same league. Its not even close. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Woke up a little groggy so this strong tea is what was called for. This is one of my favorite blends as I like the malty taste of the assams in the blend. Very strong, no bitterness and a touch of astringency. Its cold, rainy and a little snow here so a strong delicious tea is called for. My stash is getting low as I use this for iced also. Almost time to order more which is no problem as it is very inexpensive which is a plus.

This is a great tea. I’m alternating now between Rishi and Leafspa Yunnans trying to see which one I like better. They look the same, smell the same and almost taste the same. The difference right now is the steep times I use. Rishi’s is 4 min. and Leafspa’s is 3 min. I like them both and this is likely to come to a draw.

This is my first white tea but I do like it. The leaves are green and soft with little white hairs on them. I don’t know what to compare the smell to other than to say that they smell fresh and airy. It is a very soft aroma. The tea brews up to be a light golden color with tiny white hairs in it. The tea is very delicate with a mild sweet floral taste. I have no other white teas to compare this tea to so I’m rating it as it appeals to me. I like it a lot.

This is a very smooth vegetal tasting tea. The tea smells a little smoky but doesn’t taste that way. Very enjoyable cup.

My Leafspa arrived today and I dug out the yunnan. It rivals the Rishi Golden Yunnan I have. The tin is really packed with tea. It’s one fantastic deal for yunnan that tastes like this. The yunnan taste is there, earthy, peppery, and distinctly yunnan. I drink a lot of Yunnan tea, I have quite a few in my cupboard. I would not say that this is the best, but it would be in my top 5. I will order it again

A nice afternoon tea. The tea has a delicate flavor with no bitterness or astringency. My wife tasted mine and had me make her a cup. This tea is very light and slightly fruity.

This tea has a light spicy aroma and steeps up to a light amber color. It is stronger than most darjeelings but still has a lighter taste than any breakfast tea I have had. I am not a fan of darjeelings but I like this tea. The tea is slightly fruity and a very nice cup.

I’m really surprised but I like this tea. I received one tuo cha as a sample and the smell is earthy and musky. The tea really gets dark in a hurry. The taste is earthy and my wife even likes it (bigger surprise). The tea is really good, no bitterness, no astringency, just earthiness in abundance. I’m going to have to order more of this. All this and it just keeps making more cups of tea. I’m on the third cup now, still earthy and delicious.
This is a nice inexpensive yunnan that is smooth with slight peppery notes. I didn’t see any fireworks while drinking this tea. Its more of a middle of the road yunnan for my tastes. I tend to like teas that smack me up side of the head and say “Here I am.”
This is an interesting sample I received from The Tea Table. The tea leaf smells more of cherry with hints of vanilla. Its a very smooth tea, no bitterness or astringency. The taste has hints of both but not really strong. I think this tea would be great in an iced tea which is what I intend to use the rest of it for. Its an ok tea but not something I would drink every day.
This is a very nice breakfast tea with strong rich flavor, no bitterness and just a touch of astringency. While nothing spectacular happened while sipping, it is a good tea.
The reason I wanted to try this tea is that Mountain Malt is an Assam Gingia tea also. While this is is a very nice assam, it is not Mountain Malt. There is no comparison. This tea is malty and has a touch of bitterness and astringency. The chewy biscuity notes are not there. They do not even look the same. All that being said, still this is a nice assam.
This is a nice tasting green tea but it tastes like any other to me. I really don’t taste anything outstanding about this one.
This is a very nice robust, brisk, and malty tea. You can smell the assam tea in it and it really has a kick to it. I’m really glad I only steeped for 3 minutes. I have a feeling that you could stand a spoon up in it at 5 minutes. I’m getting no bitterness and a touch of astringency. This would make a very good breakfast tea and I like it a lot.
Fantastic tea for breakfast. mmmm chewy biscuits….

I drank this last night. This tea is very smooth and I actually used enough leaves to get a spicy taste. The tea brews up golden and smells of honey to me. The tea tastes slightly peppery and floral. A very enjoyable tea.
OK, now I’m very confused. I fixed this the very exact way I did yesterday and today this tea is strong, bitter, and very astringent. I can hardly drink it. This is getting dumped and I’m going back to the drawing board and try a 4 minute steep. I’m dropping the rating until I can see what it wrong. The 5 minute steep is the directions on the box.
2nd try;
I increased the water to 12 oz as this is one huge tea bag and decreased the steep time to 4 minutes. This is much better than earlier. The tea is smooth and not bitter. Yet this tea just tastes like tea, a strong tea. I’m not getting any of the nuances that I get from other teas. Maybe its the blend, I’m not sure. I really expected a lot from this tea. If anyone has any ideas on how to prepare this tea, please leave me a comment.
This is an interesting blend of teas. It is brisk, robust, no bitterness, and just a touch of astringency. This tea is in a tea sachet. It is slightly floral and has a subtle sweetness to the tea. I really do like it, its just very hard to compare this tea to other teas. I can definitely taste the assam in this tea. I can say that I like Simple Leaf’s Mountain Malt and Rishi’s Golden Yunnan better but they aren’t blends.
