1500 Tasting Notes
Yay for sipdowns! (427) Also, a huge thanks to Janelle for sending over just enough so that I could try it. I really appreciate it!
This tastes very differently than expected. I used to have a thing for a yogurt tea several years back that the Tea Centre in Courtenay, BC sells. It had tiny yogurt chips in it, and it gave the tea a wonderfully creamy, slightly tangy feel. This is also something I would have avoided at all costs, until the owners of said tea shoppe gave me a cup of it and just said to try it. So glad I did! Anyway. This tea reminds me of that one, even though I see zero yogurt anything in the ingredients.
So I get a yogurt-y mouthfeel, and the flavors of lemon and hibiscus. It’s… okay.
Preparation
Sil posting her tealog of this reminded me that I have some too, and I’m really feeling the pu-erhs these days. So, I wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately, I too only got orange out of it. Light, juicy orange, yet still just orange. There’s a bit of a dryness to it that I could attribute to chocolate, but it’s faint.
Preparation
Okay, so I enjoy this so much that I caved and bought some Verdant last night. 2 oz of this in that order. It definitely helped kick whatever stomach ick I’ve been fighting the past week.
Preparation
Everyone is buying tea! I want to place an order and I think it is because I miss getting tea mail so I am itching for something new. Meanwhile, I have like 8 swaps going and at least two orders on their way.
I’m in the same boat — I’ve sent out about $100 in shipping’s worth of packages last week, and… still only a small dent in my cupboard. It’s hard to avoid tea shopping!
I was able to avoid placing orders because I know that in the swaps I have teas from different companies. I figure I should try the teas first and that way know if I like it and should buy more or I don’t like them. I was going to buy the Choco Honeyberry from Steep City but the shipping was insane which made me lose interest. Same goes for Whispering Pines S’mores.
Somehow, I only managed to get a small amount of this in the S&V Black Friday mammoth sale a bunch of us got into together. Initially I was bummed at this thought, then I realized (a) I can always order more, and (b) I have way too much tea as it is. ;)
I only brewed this for 2 minutes, concerned about the black base. I shouldn’t have been, although it’s more delicious to me a bit cooled than hot. Hot, I get caramel and that’s it. Cooled, I get chocolate caramels with a hint of the base. It reminds me a lot of Della Terra’s Salted Caramel and Chocolate, minus the salty notes, and with more of a full, natural taste to it.
Preparation
I’m at the point where all I’m drinking is tea now, and holding off on food until my stomach settles. This is helping… a little. I just left the bag in to steep indefinitely. It tastes so good though!
Preparation
Still tasty, and I can tell it’s the same base as my beloved Caramel Pu-erh from the same company. Really, um, truffle-y, in an earth sort of way. Hoped it would help settle my stomach down.. still working on it.
Preparation
Haha. You and your caramel pu’erh. Sometimes I feel like you could have that, a few caffeine free options (probably Lemon Meringue and the Candy Cane Rooibos from Simpson and Vail), and nothing else and still be happy.
This tastes much more.. herbal than anything when oversteeped. Still something sweet and tasty in the brew, however less appealing now than previously. Was hoping it would help kick whatever I’ve got going on in my stomach.
