1500 Tasting Notes
The more I drink this, the more I enjoy it… just as long as I ignore the name of the tea. I think it misses on a few counts, however it’s still really, really tasty.
Preparation
I debated about buying this one because I enjoy Frank’s honeybush blends but I was unsure how I felt about the ginger
I get very little ginger out of this, and I love ginger. More pumpkin with a touch of sweetness and some mild cheesecake twang than anything. I’ll put some aside to send to you if you’d like to try it.
I’m already well aware that I like the custom Adagio blends more than the basic teas, however anything chestnut calls to me. I literally can eat a bag of the cooked ones I find in a local Asian grocery store in two minutes flat. So, this tea appeals to me on several levels, even if I had lower-than-normal expectations.
I steeped it less than recommended as I find Adagio’s bases sometimes get bitter, fast. This definitely worked for me. Interestingly, this reminds me strongly of one of the TARDIS blends; this must be the base in it. I’m getting little chestnut however and more of a… hm. Creamy EG, with more cream than EG? Odd. Still tasty, just wondering if somehow the wrong tea was put in the wrong bag – or maybe I’m feeling more off than I thought. Holding off on rating, for now.
EDIT: Looked at the tea again; this is definitely not chestnut. Emailing Adagio now.
Preparation
Heh. This may well be my tastebuds… there’s just no chestnut pieces in it, as per the pics? That’s what threw me.
Confession. I haven’t had chestnuts before. At least not since I was too young to remember. But I hear they’re fabulous.
Started this last night/this morning, and just finishing it now. Whatever was bugging my stomach last night has now moved lower on down, and while I feel better, I’m still a bit off. Going to take it easy today, knit, drink a lot of tea, and hopefully get a bit of writing done to boot. This tea? Amazing, as always. One of the few 52 Teas I’ve purchased more than one bag of.
Preparation
Third cup of this tonight, and this is a re-steep. Surprisingly, tastes just as good as the first, although this time I had to strain the tea through a paper filter because of all the clumpy (I assume caramel) bits — so many that they actually clogged the bag and stopped water from pouring through!
Preparation
Okay Superhero of Teas. Work your magic! All I want to see is your cheap red cape, blowing in the breeze behind you as you fly away to save your next ingestor, after having saved my stomach from the perils of bad, evil food.
Preparation
My bag says only pu-erh and caramel pieces in it, sans ‘natural flavor’. Regardless, this is fantastic. There are chunks of caramel in here, and it’flavors the pu-erh beautifully. I find pu-erh’s really help my stomach and get my digestive juices flowing, and thus why I’m trying this tonight… so amazingly delicious, even oversteeped.
Preparation
Why did they have to close all their local stores? Why didn’t I ever see this one on the shelf when I went in? These are important tea-questions to ask. :)
Heh. I only saw this online after I specifically went looking for it — if that helps? I’m going to go through this fast. Already on cup #2.
Oh crap, I didn’t look at the pu-erhs when I was at the Edmonton location the other day. Wonder if they had it.
What?! Argh. Well that blows. When I order more, I’ll grab you some OMGsrsly, although frankly I’ll be AWOL still in person for a bit.
Definitely suffering from massive stomach upset, so this is in order tonight. Brewed it extra strong with two teabags for 12 ounces, and I hope it does the trick! Flavor-wise it’s basically a mint with some herbals in the background. Definitely drinking this for something other than the flavor. ;)
Yay! You really should enjoy it so I am glad you made yourself a delicious cup :)
Woot! Do you know if she reblended this one?
Yay for breaking the hoarded stash!
Courtney: It came up in another person’s discussion, however Stacy has offered to reblend it if anyone is willing to buy a large sum of it at once. So there are three of us now in on that… I’m sure there will be more once Stacy is finished her holiday and we can discuss specifics.
Ooo, maybe I’ll have this one next. Especially if there’s going to be a reblend order. :)
