Winner winner chicken dinner! That’s what this tastes like. — would prefer it as a brine.

Smells like cotton candy to me, it’s that sweet (super surprising!) The taste is also pretty sweet, with a hint of cranberry tartness at the end.

Try #1 got botched by BCAA showing up to jump my (now-former) car, so now I’m drinking try #2. Dunno what I did this time around (as opposed to last time), however I’m getting chocolate juiciness with a hint of mint. It’s really delicious today!

Flavors: Candy, Chocolate, Cream, Mint, Smooth

drank Cherry Almond by Market Spice
1500 tasting notes

Smooth and sweet, it’s like a lightly cherry sweetened marzipan. Is it great? Uh… well, I’ll be fine finishing off the $0.50 of this that I got. :) I think that someone who really loves cherries and almonds would find this quite delightful.

Flavors: Cherry, Marzipan, Smooth

This one surprised me. Tartness from the cranberry and smooth mint made a nice combination, one I’ve yet to find elsewhere. Was teabag, and red rooibos at that, but I think I’ll grab more the next time in Seattle, it was good enough to try again.

drank Spicy Seattle Chai by Market Spice
1500 tasting notes

I was really excited when I saw, “spicy” as part of the title, because frankly, I loves me some spicy tea! (Yes Kapha from TeaGschwendner, I’m thinking of you fondly here). I grabbed a tiny bit – $0.52 worth to be exact – and now wish I’d grabbed more. Most of the heat from the spice comes from extra ginger, which I LOVE, and the rest is a pretty smooth, delicious chai.

Flavors: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Pepper, Spicy

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 2 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

You tried Winter Fire from Butiki?

I’m confused by the high rating for this on here. Although I had it a few days ago, the bitter, almost tannic coconut in this made the rest of it unpalatable for me, and I dumped it. Will have to try again, perhaps at a lower temperature, to see if I can get it to taste as lovely as it sounds.

Flavors: Burnt, Coconut, Tannin

That’s too bad! This is one of my all-time favourites.

Your temp was too high, probably. I brew this at 73 or 76 tops…

I gave up on coconut tea. First, it’s hard to find a good one, second when you do find one, it turns waxy and sour in no time…

drank Seattle Surprise by Market Spice

First off: whatever is in the pineapple in this blend causes it to mash together into a huge lump, and it needs separating before drinking. Having said that, this is probably the juiciest, most luscious tea I’ve had along these lines, so I’m thinking it’s a less processed pineapple (because well-dried, it wouldn’t have this moisture to cause smooshing).

Is this a complaint? Definitely not, other than trying to figure out initially if that’s intentional or a mistake (the seemingly congealed mass of white clumps around the tea). This is a bright, light pineapple tea, and while I get little else other than a touch of mango, and zero actual tea from this, it’s really quite delicious. I could easily sip this all summer happily, although I’d likely forget it was caffeinated, it’s just that light.

drank Green Rooibos Citron by Adagio Teas

Still the only non-fandom Adagio blend I keep in stock at all times — which is funny because I hoard it, when I know I can grab more anytime I want. Need to drink this more often, and try it iced!

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 8 min or more 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

I too hoard on some tea I don’t even need to cause they are still available…it’s like having a security blanket or something :-)

I’ve been drinking this almost nightly the past two weeks, just haven’t been logging anything, sadly. I like it… it soothes me, I find it appealing and comforting in a very herbal/creamy/sweet way, and it definitely helps me pass out sooner than if i didn’t drink it. Upping the rating, because I obviously enjoy this more than a 70 rating.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 8 min or more 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

I used to drink so much of this one when my kids were young.

Bio

A few years ago, the obsession with tea started. The cupboard got bigger and bigger, more swaps occurred, group buys, secret rendezvous with local teapassionistas… and that’s how you end up with 500+ different kinds of tea in your home. At one time.

Almost all of the tea was given away, sold, or otherwise shared. A few relics still remain. I now travel full time with only two carryon bags to my name. One quarter of those bags are tea.

It’s still a challenge to avoid the chipmunk-like hoarding of The Teas, yet, the lightness of being from having so little compels me more.

If I have enough, I’m happy to share. If I’m in your area, I’d love to swap, meet for tea, and explore together.

As for the day-to-day stuff, I’m focused almost entirely on Love, (yes, with a capital L), Spirit/Self, transformation, travel and my writing and speaking work.

What kinds of teas do I normally like?

YES: flavored teas, fruity, dessert, chai, and spicy (REALLY spicy).

A FONDNESS FOR: all white teas, malty black teas, any herbal or medicinal teas, strange/weird teas you can only get in one place.

ALLERGIC TO: strawberries, lavender

DISLIKES: any added sugars, grains, lapsang souchong, and overly floral teas – I might enjoy a Jasmine Green every once in a while, but unless it’s a creamy floral tea (think roses in a chai, or the smoothness of a floral note in a French tea), I’ll likely pass. Earl Greys are a hit or miss with me; heavy on the cream or fruit notes and I might like it, heavy on the blergamot and I definitely won’t.
