drank Tulsi Red Magic by T2
1500 tasting notes

Woot! My T2 order arrived today, and I’m over the moon. This is the most I’ve ever paid for tea (due to shipping) even with the massive BF orders for multiple people last year. So this is the first tea I’m trying, because I’m craving some tulsi right now.

First, the packaging: amazing! All of the teas came in a black box, kept together with a magnet. Everything, including the paper packaging to keep things from shifting during transit, had T2 written on it in black on black. Super classy. Then the tea came in boxes with T2 prominently displayed, all lined up in a pretty row. Inside however, the tea came in basic, clear plastic wrap, with zero way to zip it back up again. Not cool, and the brittle plastic broke already with one of the teas, making a huge mess with a lot of expensive tea. Boo. Note for next time (if I order again): buy the tea in tins.

On to the tea! It’s an odd yet comforting blend. Herbal cream with some faint cacao/chocolate in there is what I’m getting. Something dry at the end, which I’m attributing to the tulsi. Yep, for what this is, it’s quite excellent.

Another situation where I’m not liking this as much as usual… although that may well be that I understeeped it this evening. Still yummy, just not as yummy as before.

Preparation

drank Almond Dream by Souvia

Brews to a light orangey-pink, and both smells and tastes strongly of… apple brown betty? It’s quite fascinating really, and comforting. I think I may need to buy some of this.

Got this from khamilton611 in the Tea and Yarn Swap. Thank you so much, this was my first tea from this company!

When I bought it, the person helping me told me that someone buys it…not to steep as tea…but to eat it!

Had this last night with one xylitol caramel placed carefully inside for sweetening. It was okay, and more chocolately than normal, but still not living up to the taste described, sadly.

This still isn’t tasting right again. Is it my Finnium, or something else? Tastes bitter and a bit off, with less cocoa than I remember.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

A bit of tartness to this today that I’m forgetting where or why it showed up; methinks I need to scrub my Finium baskets. Any suggestions? Otherwise, creamy and delicious as normal.

drank Vata Ayurvedic by DAVIDsTEA

Case of the Missing Tealog opened, as I know I’ve logged this on more than one occasion. Regardless, I had a huge cup of this tonight/today, and it’s weird stuff. As long as I remove the rosebuds, I find this palatable… and relaxing. I think once this bag is done however, I too will be done. Looking forward to a sipdown with another… three? massive mugs of this. Sigh.

Wasn’t sure what I’d think of this, as it’s just spices and zero tea anything. Still, it’s exactly what I wanted today/tonight, so I brewed myself a cup. Oh, yum! Okay, so it’s missing the thickness of a black tea, which I’m sure would be quite lovely if added. Still, it’s a decent chai-like blend when I’m needing/wanting zero caffeine.

Add a teaspoon of your favorite black tea :)

Mandy

Sounds to me like the perfect way to have a nice cup of chai before bed without being up all night!

Exactly, Mandy! :)

Woot! Finally got my Whispering Pines order (darn borders…) So this of course is the first tea I tried. Dammit though, I oversteeped it while watching Person of Interest. Bah!

Regardless, this smells so strongly of chocolate out of the bag I looked around to see if I’d left some chocolate out accidentally. Nope, it’s from the tea! Amazing. Steeped (for 11 minutes, bah!) it’s still very chocolately with zero astringency, although I can still tell it would be much more delicate, light, yet full and rich had I done this justice. It smells amazing still even as it sits here, and I hope the scent floats out throughout the house.

I want to go back and watch Person of Interest from the beginning (I hate starting a series mid stream). Do you like it a lot?

Sami Kelsh

Oh man, this sounds SO good.

MissB

Person of Interest is one of my favorite shows, however I am biased; the showrunner is the (lesser known) brother who co-wrote both Memento, and had a part with the production of Inception as well. I see it as a television version of that style of film, and then when they added a female lead that just happens to be one of my favorite actresses, I was overjoyed. It’s really solid writing, and they’ve thought through the very complex storyline five years through… it shows.

Sil

Hmmm maybe I should give it another shot lol I watched the first season and just found it too repetitive

Dinosara

Woohoo Person of Interest! Possibly my favorite show on television. LOVE Jonathan Nolan too, MissB! Killer writing… I love dramatic shows that still have lighthearted moments occasionally and lots of witty one-liners. And yes, the storyline is awesome and has never felt tired (side note: omg ends of seasons are so stressful!).

I personally love the “number-of-the-week” format (with larger storylines interwoven) but I suppose it’s not for everyone. :)

Suziqzer

Hmm… I’m looking for a new series, I might have to check it out. I just recently finished Fringe and hate that it’s over! It was so hard to watch the final episode!

drank Lemon Chiffon by Della Terra Teas
1500 tasting notes

I do love this tea, although it’s very similar to several others I have already (Lemon Meringue by Tealish and Green Rooibos Citron by Adagio). This will be a sipdown shortly, and while I do like a few of Della Terra’s blends (this being my favorite), there’s nothing that called to me so strongly that I feel the need to reorder anytime soon.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
greenteafairy

Do you find all three of those blends basically comparable, or is there a standout among them?

MissB

I find them all excellent, in different ways. Citron is more orange/lemon, Lemon Meringue is the creamiest, whereas Lemon Chiffon is the more lemony. I am leaning towards green rooibos over red of late though (which Citron and Meringue are), although I’d never know it was red with Lemon Chiffon.

Profile

Bio

A few years ago, the obsession with tea started. The cupboard got bigger and bigger, more swaps occurred, group buys, secret rendezvous with local teapassionistas… and that’s how you end up with 500+ different kinds of tea in your home. At one time.

Almost all of the tea was given away, sold, or otherwise shared. A few relics still remain. I now travel full time with only two carryon bags to my name. One quarter of those bags are tea.

It’s still a challenge to avoid the chipmunk-like hoarding of The Teas, yet, the lightness of being from having so little compels me more.

If I have enough, I’m happy to share. If I’m in your area, I’d love to swap, meet for tea, and explore together.

As for the day-to-day stuff, I’m focused almost entirely on Love, (yes, with a capital L), Spirit/Self, transformation, travel and my writing and speaking work.

What kinds of teas do I normally like?

YES: flavored teas, fruity, dessert, chai, and spicy (REALLY spicy).

A FONDNESS FOR: all white teas, malty black teas, any herbal or medicinal teas, strange/weird teas you can only get in one place.

ALLERGIC TO: strawberries, lavender

DISLIKES: any added sugars, grains, lapsang souchong, and overly floral teas – I might enjoy a Jasmine Green every once in a while, but unless it’s a creamy floral tea (think roses in a chai, or the smoothness of a floral note in a French tea), I’ll likely pass. Earl Greys are a hit or miss with me; heavy on the cream or fruit notes and I might like it, heavy on the blergamot and I definitely won’t.
