1500 Tasting Notes
Apple, hibiscus, pineapple, something oddly bitter (melon?), more apple. I think this would be really fun cold-brewed and given to the kids; kids that love apples! An interesting tea, however I think I steeped it a bit too long, or perhaps used too much (two teabags for 12oz).
Thanks to KittyLovesTea for sharing this with me! Something I probably wouldn’t have found on my own, which is always one of my favorite things – to discover things within someone else’s wheelhouse.
Preparation
Forgot I even had this tea, and also forgot how much I like a Monk’s Blend. Reminds me of the Shirley Temples my parents let me have each time that we went out for dinner. This time though, there’s a floral note that I’m just meh about. I’d rather the grenadine, with zero flowers in this blend.

Most definitely creamy, lush coconut in here. So creamy it’s actually serving as a lip balm at the moment as I lick my lips. Cheesecake? Hm. Maybe, if the coconut wiped out most of the cheesecake twang.
Flavors: Coconut, Cream
Preparation
Made it again from scratch, underleafing it this time like others suggested. NOW it’s delicious. NOW I can recommend it wholeheartedly. I get every note in there that’s supposed to be: cream cheese icing, blueberry, danish pastry. So glad I re-did this so that my daughter had something nice to wake up to! Not so happy about the 10 tsp of tea I wasted prior, though.
Which makes me wonder: does Frank try his teas before making them? If so, why does he avoid offering any sort of steeping instructions to help his customers avoid such mishaps? Thank goodness for y’all here though, or else I would have given up on it.
1.5 tsp in 16oz.
Preparation
I don’t know why companies don’t make recommendations. It is quite annoying when you are trying to figure out how to best brew their teas. You would think they would know.
Yeah, I find that frustrating as well, although often I find that if you wing it, you’re more likely to (eventually) find parameters that work for you. Verdant comes to mind—I’m not a fan of one-minute steeps for blacks and such, but it’s what they suggest—and hey, maybe that works for some people.
This is… interesting. I get honeybush, I get eggnog spices, and I get a weird cream-like flavor that’s a bit… different. Maybe this is boozy eggnog? It’s very different than any eggnog I’ve had, even though it tastes good… I’m just having a hard time falling in love with this blend.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cream, Nutmeg
Preparation
I’m sorry this blend was not what you were hoping for though it does ease my mind a bit in knowing that I am not missing out on something amazing.
Oh my goodness. What on earth did I do wrong here? This was, by far, the worst cup of tea I’ve had in years. One sip and it was so bitter, I had to dump 1200mL of it. Even did it up in the Breville the “proper” way, because my daughter had asked for some to put in a jug for tomorrow.
1.5 tsp per 8oz.
Preparation
Wanna hear weird? I definitely get cheesecake out of this, however it’s missing any sort of cherry whatsoever. How on earth did I manage that? Also getting a bit of the metallic taste as I did with the Cantaloupe Watermelon as it cools. Oh, wait. There’s the cherry, kind of, well after the sip. Think I’ll let this one marinate a bit before trying it again.
Preparation
Hm. Much better hot than cold, this is very cantaloupe-y with less watermelon than I’d expected in the mix. Also, was a bit disappointed to see this was a 1 oz. bag, when it’s the same price as the 2oz. bags in the same order. Yes, I realize white tea takes up more space – however I also need more of it to brew, and if I’d known it was double the price, I likely would have passed. My bad for ignoring this important aspect of buying.
Really though, it’s a very authentic cantaloupe, even if it gets a bit metallic as it cools. Watermelon comes in a bit at the end of the sip.
Preparation
This is delicious cup of mostly creamy caramel, with a tiny hint of chocolate at the end. It’s really quite lovely both hot and cold, although I do prefer it warm-ish.
I think (?) I bought this from Starfevre in her tea sale, and I feel badly that I bought it at a time when I’d yet to think of marking each sample with the handle of the person who sent it to me. :$ Silly MissB. So, to whomever sold this to me at a greatly discounted price because it was in a different tea’s bad – thank you!
