I absolutely love smoky teas. I had this one with lunch today. It was a nice smoked wood flavor, without tasting burnt or like dirt, like some can.

This my go to tea when I want a black tea but I don’t know which one. The coconut and the assam go together well with no bitterness. I think this one would be interesting in cooking.

This is my first time in quite a while using a gaiwan so we’ll see how this goes!

First steep, 15 seconds: Everyone else seems to get sweet caramel flavors, but I’m getting light vegetal flavors with a bit of a sour note at the end. The steeped leaves smell like rice to me

Second steep, 20 seconds: This one was about the same as the 15 second steep, I didn’t notice a huge difference.

Third steep, 30 seconds: This one is less vegetal and more creamy

Fourth steep, 45 seconds: I didn’t get much flavor out of this one so I’m going to really up the time on the next one, and it will probably be my last of this for today. The steeped leaves smell almost like paper towels, weird.

Fifth steep, 90 seconds: Still not much going on here. Oh well

I really don’t like licorice that much, so I was hesitant with this tea. Brewed up, it had a very strong licorice scent coming from it. However, when I sipped it, I got sweet, almost bread-like notes instead and didn’t get much of the licorice at all. I’m pleasantly surprised with this one!

I just never know what to expect when it comes to green teas. It seems that I really dislike most that I try, and love just a small few. I need to figure out which green tea base it is that doesn’t agree with me.
Unfortunately, this is one of those that I seem to not like. I think I get a bit of creamy vanilla right at the beginning of the sip, and then it’s overpowered by something vegetabley and almost fishy. It’s all I can taste, and I don’t get any peach flavor at all! :( This tea has great reviews, so I doubt it’s anything with the tea itself, just my own weirdness with green teas.

drank Turkish Apple by Art of Tea

This was my morning tea, and I really liked it! It has a kind of baked apple flavor, and the cinnamon isn’t too overwhelming. I also am really happy that this seems to not have any nutmeg in it. A lot of apple teas tend to have it, and I just really don’t like that as a tea flavor. Overall, this is a good mellow apple tea!

I definitely underbrewed this somehow, because I am not getting any flavors at all out of this. That, or this stuff is just really old. I got no tea, and no fruit flavor, and all the other reviews rave (or rant) about the fruity flavors. I will definitely retry this one soon.

I have been craving a smoky tea all day and I finally got to make a cup of this! This is a really nice smoky tea, it’s not bitter, gross, or overwhelming. It actually seems to be pretty mild as far as smoke in teas go.

I made a cup of this, and then accidentally fell asleep, oops…
When I woke up, it was cold but still tasted nice so I took it to class with me as an iced tea. Not quite as flavorful as it is hot, but still a lovely unflavored tea.

I’ve tried this now hot, iced, and cold brewed, at least a few times each way. This is a really nice flavored tea in my opinion. It’s not too sweet and doesn’t overwhelm the tea itself. When brewed hot, it has an interesting milk chocolate flavor (not sure where it comes from though?) with some rose in there. Cold brewed, the chocolate flavor gets even stronger, in a good way. Iced is where the pomegranate really shows up in my opinion. The tea takes on a tart tanginess that you really don’t get with the other methods.

Flavors: Chocolate, Rose, Tart

I’m a premed student at a university near Austin. I’ve recently started getting very much into tea, but I’m still learning. I’ve lived in Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Maryland, and California, and each place has it’s own charm, but Colorado was definitely my favorite place. I also knit quite a bit and sell things on my etsy when I’m not busy with school.
