It IS best to simply drink and enjoy this tea without expectation or judgment. A very zen notion. It’s just about the only green tea I drink and I have it almost every day. Needs nothing added or taken away. Best to drink with eyes closed.
7 Tasting Notes
I’m not one of the more sophisticated tea drinkers but I’m quite pleased with Twinnings’ Darjeeling when I want a black tea with a bit more smooth sophistication than the typical everyday blend or a breakfast tea. I remember thinking when I first tried this it would be a shame to turn it into a commonplace by drinking it too regularly. Goes well with Charles Dickens.
I love to turn to this tea in the fall. It just goes well with spice cakes and the brilliant colors of the turning leaves. The exotic mandarin orange flavor in a hot tea is just what I need to put a little warm back into the shortening days.
I don’t drink a lot of this tea but this has to be number three on my list of favorites. Because the tins are just about air-tight, the aroma and flavor are preserved very well. I think I keep this tea in the house just so I can pop the tin from time to time to take in the incredible peach tea scent. It’s romantic and dreamy whether smelling or drinking.
This is the first black currant I ever tried and I was hooked with the very first cup. I’ve tried many others since and Harney and Sons still comes in first in my tastes as the best of this kind. I keep four or five of these tins in the house at all times.
This is the tea I drink most often in the cold months. It’s a great black tea and the fruity currant reminds me of spring and summer when the weather and the world outside is a bit barren and imposing.
This is my everyday tea. I’ve sampled Early Grey from many different suppliers over the years but was never quite satisfied with the usual proportions of bergamot. Stash’s Double Bergamot Earl Grey has it just about perfect for my tastes. In fact, I love the tea so much, I keep the paper envelopes around for a little “aromatherapy” even and especially when I’m not drinking tea. Yum!
