I don’t really know what to think of it. It’s my first white tea ever! Dry, the leaves are a little squishy, and are quite large. The package says 1-2 tsp, but I just estimated as the leaves are too big to measure that way.

It smells really sweet and a little grassy. The flavour is super delicate. I have a feeling I didn’t use enough leaves as I can’t really spoon it out, but then how many grams would I use for a cup?

I do like it as it’s another tea I will drink without any additives (perfect for work!), but would I buy more? I’m not sure. I’ll have to drink more of this (really huge) sample and make some more notes.

you should use about 3g per cup of 8oz

Thanks! Just weighed it out, and it looks to be what I had estimated. Now, to drink tea.

Just a note – I imagine that you figured it out already, but although this is a white tea, it’s also a pu’erh! So probably doesn’t quite taste like a classic, regular white tea (although tbh, I’ve only had about 1 straight white tea in my life, though I should hopefully be fixing that soon!) Anyways, just noting this :D

OMGsrsly

I actually like this one way better than the white teas I’ve tried. Granted, all the white teas I’ve had have been flavoured, but still. This one was so good. I’ve had it a couple times since (without logging) and yum. Delicate, delicious tea.

Kittenna

I think this one is more strongly flavoured than most whites, which is nice. I also like the flavour of this one better than the one straight white tea I have had (Bai Mu Dan). I know I like Silver Needles and such, but haven’t ever had them straight, just in blends (like Butiki’s), where you can actually taste the tea.

OMGsrsly

Most of the flavored teas I’ve had have been bai mu dan, which I did not care for. I’ll have to check out Butiki’s white blends! I’m planning a birthday-money-order from them.

Kittenna

Yeah, bai mu dan tends to have a plasticky taste to me. Or I’ve often had low-quality versions. You should love Butiki’s teas!

OMGsrsly

I’m so excited I’m going to hit that $75 shipping minimum in about 5 minutes!

Kittenna

Ahahaha. It’s not difficult! I think my first Butiki order (BEFORE a free shipping threshold), cost about that much… plus shipping. Yum.

Bio

Black teas are my favourite, although I do drink the occasional green tea. I am exploring herbal and fruity teas for summer icing and winter evenings, and oolong and pu erh are new and exciting… although I do not like a tea that tastes mostly of seaweed.

No: Spearmint or peppermint, licorice root, gluten (cookie bits, wheat, rye, barley, I’m OK with oats)

After sending my first box to the USA, bubble-envelope swaps are where it’s at.

When I rate, my ratings are based on the little faces, and depend on what face I make when I sip the tea! :)

Also: A map of tea places in Vancouver. I’ve been to some of them, but not a lot. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
