2291 Tasting Notes
Thanks, Cavocorax! Yes, I’m just trying this now. I still have to do the Coconut-Oolong-off, I know…
Anyways. This tea. It smells like creamy citrus candy. It’s pretty delicate, but that might be because it’s been sitting out on my counter for a couple months. I swear, I’m trying to drink down my samples! Really! I just have a HUGE box of them…
It tastes almost like thick water, sadly. The flavour is so delicate it’s almost lost. This is definitely because it’s been on my counter too long. I’m sorry, tea, for mistreating you. I’m sure in your original form you are delicious and amazing.
Preparation
I received this as a sample in the order I did just before the new year.
New tea! Sadly, I have NO IDEA what is in it. Looks like cloves, pepper, orange peel, cinnamon, ginger or licorice, maybe cacao nibs? IDK. I’ll try it anyways. Just to see.
There was 1 tbsp in the packet, which is about perfect for a 16 oz mug.
Dry I definitely smelled the chocolate. As it steeped, it smelled spicy. Drinking it with some homemade coconut creamer, it’s actually really tasty. Although… I’m uncertain as to the presence of licorice root. And there could probably be more chocolate.
I’d definitely pick up a sample pack in the future (pending ingredient knowledge) to play with a bit more. Maybe steeping it in almond milk would be good.
Preparation
Interesting! I actually love cloves, just that David’s Sugar and Spice had a weird thing going on with them.
2 tsp in 16 oz, steeped for “a while”.
Added honey.
So amazing. So, so good. This is a fantabulous tea to have when sick, if you like all the ingredients. :) I love sage tea with honey, so the savoury-ness doesn’t bother me at all.
Preparation
OM NOM NOM.
I steeped this (possibly) forever. Even having the lid on, it’s down to guzzling temperature. Oops? Oh well. It is DELICIOUS.
Preparation
I got a lot during the summer sale. :) I want more, though. I’m keeping an eye on MissB. Maybe we can all do a big order!
That is definitely a great plan. I only got a sample and when I fell in love I learned I could buy no more :(
I heard she’s doing a black tea version, but I might be wrong. I might need both versions in my life, if it’s a base I like. :)
Oh, we can definitely do a large order. ;) It’ll just have to wait until Stacy is back from holidays to discuss the details. I’ll order whatever quantity she needs to reblend it, so that everyone who wants some can enjoy it.
:( Now I’m sick! I could have sworn that people couldn’t be infected through the internet! (Actually, I’m blaming my brother.)
This is delightful, and my throat isn’t sore enough yet for the acid to hurt it yet. Yay! Next up I’m having a hot honey and lemon. When it hurts to breathe and swallow, the honey definitely makes its way back into my food repertoire.
Preparation
My boss sent me home from work today with a bag of paperwork, but I got home, had food, and slept! Oops. There’s a bunch of stuff due tomorrow, too.
So sorry you got sick…
Lol at «I could have sworn that people couldn’t be infected through the internet!» …those darn Internet viruses!!!! Feel better soon :-)
You’re right OMGsrsly, we’re a bunch of sickos! I can just imagine the high energy level if we’d arrange for a meat up right now, lol!
Tea of my heart, you are so tasty.
I love this. The jasmine and frankincense are amazing together. The super floral oolong is just amazing with it. I definitely get how people can say oolongs can taste like lilacs – no doubt that is enhanced by the jasmine. I keep thinking I should drink what I have, but then I never do because the idea that I need to wait and save it for something special overpowers. Hah. That’s ridiculous.
So I’m enjoying it now. I hope the incense is easier to get out of the glass steeper than it is the metal ones…
Preparation
Crowkettle gave me some in the initial meetup we had in Victoria, and I also ordered more. I can totally see this as a love-it-or-hate-it tea. :)
I kinda like this one. It would be (much) better without the coriander, but the toasted rice kind of overpowers it while hot. I LOVE the toasted rice Verdant uses. So strong and toasty. :D
The Oolong is super duper floral. The floral is coming through the toasted rice, soap, and cinnamon. And sadly as it cools, the coriander is getting soapier. This would be SO good without the excess amount of coriander. Just a little would be fine, but in my bag it looks like at least 1/3 of it is coriander seeds.
Another tea I’m glad I’ve tried, but will probably be relegated to the swap pile. Between the coriander and the mint, I wasn’t super happy with the Blends Club. There are some Verdant blends that I like that I will probably purchase again soon (Sweet Cinnamon Pu’er!), and one I LOVE but just haven’t had the time to sit down and do justice (Earl of Anxi).
Having this again at my parents. They have hid all their full bags of tea so we’re drinking up leftovers. Heh. Normally they have ~20-25 varieties of black tea to choose from, but I only see 7. Boo!
Oh well. It’s a nice strong delicious tea. I’m having it with almond milk because I steeped it for 3 min and the tannins were a little strong. Mmm.
Instead of waking me up like usual they let me sleep in. So I’ve made my breakfast and some tea, and as soon as I’m done we’re gearing up for a walk in the mud and ridiculous pouring rain.
Had a bag of this on the ferry today. A bag I brought myself. :) The ferry only has Lipton, which I didn’t want to deal with.
I really enjoyed this! Loads of lemony herbal green flavours, a nice kick of caffeine, really easy to make. Definitely something I will have if I’m out and Numi teas are the only thing available.
Preparation
I tried this blend a few weeks ago and christened it “Mate for Gringos”. It has a good, very accessible flavor—unlike straight mate, which can be bitter and grassy to a fault… I agree that the caffeine content is not at all negligible!
Too bad it’s so weak. To be fair, I bought it off someone who’d had it for a little while too so it was going to be delicate no matter what! :O
It has potential! I’d probably buy it if I saw it. :)
I probably would too!
(Also, I love how Steepster messed up and wouldn’t let you post – now you look VERY VERY Excited to get more of this tea).
Ugh, Steepster!
